The inaugural Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival will bring communities together through music and celebrate our South African heritage on 28 September at the Soweto Cricket Oval (The Elkah Stadium).

There has been a call for all spontaneous dancers in Gauteng schools, to partake in a life time opportunity to showcase their talent on huge platform. The Dance 2 Yo Rhythm, Hip Hop talent competition forms part of the Gauteng Carnival 2013. This project is powered by the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation with the intended effect of powering the youth through fun mediums like dance and to also highlight safety in these communities by combating teenage pregnancy, underage drinking and drugs in the community. The carnival has over 15 000 people in attendance, thus creating the biggest platform in the country for an upstart dancer, graffiti artist, poet or emcee.

Miller Genuine Draft yesterday announced the return of Miller BOOMTOWN featuring international acclaimed rapper Kendrick Lamar LIVE in SA this summer. The three-city South African tour kicks off at the CTICC in Cape Town on the 7th November before moving to Johannesburg Stadium on the 8th November and Durban’s Wave House on the 9th November priced at R350-R1900.

Legendary hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics Imperium and Linden Street Brewery are proud to announce a partial line-up of performers for the 2nd Annual Hiero Day, which will take place on Monday, September 2, 2013 (Labor Day) from 10:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Linden Street Brewery, located at the Port of Oakland. Hiero Day, a free, all-day all-ages music festival, will feature live performances by The Hieroglyphics, Strong Arm Steady, Latyrx, The Seshen, Fashawn, The Reminders, Free The Robots, The Black Opera, Adrian Younge and Venice Dawn, Craig G, Sake One, DJ DSharp, The Kev Choice Ensemble with hosts Chuy Gomez, Mistah F.A.B., and others to be announced.

Casual of the hip-hop supergroup Hieroglyphics has announced the start of his Clash Of The Titans tour with fellow legends of the late ’90’s, The Alkaholiks and Cali Agents. These industry veterans will be bringing newcomers Cisum Tomorrow ft. Wes Nyle and S.B. Baby Cougnut & DJ Twelvz as openers. Clash Of The Titans begins in Santa Cruz, CA on August 14th and concludes in New Orleans, LA on September 24th.
