Javier, Mamie’s boyfriend suggests that they film him and his life as a sex worker about massage and ‘happy endings’ (when a man is having sex, yes, that kind of ‘happy ending’) instead.

Paul “Wrecking” Crewe is a former football star who was banned from playing after a rigging scandal. While on probation he gets into a messy drunk driving incident, really messy and winds up in prison. The warden of the prison (James Cromwell) pulled some strings to get Paul into his prison because he is a football fanatic and wants Paul to help him prepare his prison football team. If Paul doesn’t comply then doing time can get a lot harder than if he did. Paul then has to organise a team composed of convicts to play against the guards. Which is only the beginning of his troubles.

Crash is Paul Hagis’s first feature film and yet he displays a very mature style of directing. His sense of vignette story telling is succint and insightful and holds a lot of drama. The film is set in Los Angeles around Christmas time and it concerns the daily lives of several characters who are linked by racially motivated acts.
