Title: International Lady Lyricists
Post by: Nthabi on June 21, 2006, 02:07:51 PM
So I was thinking about all the international so-called "female emcees" that I dig and figured it would be dope to see in which order you rank them, starting with the illest.
Here's my list (in no particular order):

L Boogie
Bahamadia
Rah Digga
Free
Queen Latifah
Blade
Eve
Rage
Da Brat (before she flipped it)

So...In which order would rank these sistas with skill :?:
P.S Feel free to add any of your favourites that I left out

:D i was just gonna say, how u gon' forget Heather B. she is really insane. If Rah and Jean DNA were fused, Heather would pop out - and she was there first.

Anyway, Lauryn Hill is illest eva - male or whateva.A few dudes is on par for sure, but no-one, no-one is iller than she

L-Boogie
Heather B
Jane Doe
Jean Grae
...#uck it Princess Superstar is crazy.

that's it, i'll admit to not being an avid follower of sisters who spit.rap's like boxing to me, something macho & stupid that only men should do.rap can't save the world, but women can. :)  hate me

 :(
sound kinda disrespectful to sisters building the art..there are a lot of dope female emcees out there better than male ones, but they are overshadowed by male emcees cuz hip hop is predominantly male emcees . i recommend you lisen to Heroine of juggaknots .my fav female emcee now.i put her  above hill(i mean now since i havent heard anyhting from hill in a min) ..shes one of sickest female emcees, she didnt make many appeareances on clear blue skies ,she was on many tracks on tha love deluxe mixtape. at a point i used to think breezly brewin writes for her, but nah.. shes just too dope:)

funny enough, I only heard about eavesdrop in London. Went into this record shop in Camden (headnod records) and eventually it came about that I was South african, and this dude is like, hey do you know eavesdrop, she's from out there too- I'm doin some production for her. the beats he was making were quite sick. Is she still out in London then? Hopefully bakin up a storm...
