Entlke Africasgateway has changed alot since last year, today we actually have rappers and producers that contribute to the growth of hip-hop and that is why I ask you. How many of use believe that Tbo touch is really promoting hip-hop in our best intrest and is not using it as a lab rat to try increase the rates on metro fm, I ant a huge fan off his show so I gave it a listen twice and for two weeks in a row I heard the same shit twice! Yip Twice, the local slot is messed up it only accomidates a hand full of mc's, Namely Morale,Supa,F-eezy, Tumi and some other cats. What bout Landmynz, Entity, Explicit, Reason, Nthabi, Mawe2, Zubz? Them caTS IS BLAZING

Then Touch started Butt kissing and Told Zooloo that Bob Mabena and DR Khumalo are pioneers of hip-hop Yes Players and Bitches "PIONEERS OF HIP-HOP" How had bob mabena not been the CEO of Sabc radio would touch still bebut kissing?
Personally for me anyone that believes Bob mabena is a pioneer of hip-hop should not have a Hip-hop radio show. Cause its evident the dude dont know twooo f***s bout Hip-hop

Touch Answers to his paymasters and as long as they can pay the bills with what they are doing they are cool, its up to the guy to try and hook up some stuff. personally stopprd listening to the radio ages ago, like when zak was still on from his 1st show, when i got tapes of Spaceman, 1st play on the show, Luke the venda with Molissa and sudan and tumi and when he had this slot for top ten local cats and ish was fresh and they had these freestyle battles and some cat was king for like a month straight chumping on foools, then but like com said "around the same time, I went away to school" and that was that.

Firstly dude bumrushed the show from Zack and my nigga D, when he used to work as a correspondent for them. That's some foul shit. Second, he dickrides everybody who comes on that show. Third, he aint really all that pa**ionate about local hip-hop. I've heard him countless times, where the Local Top 10 gets cut off before even getting to number one, cos he's got so-and-so from the US on the line for an interview.
I don't even listen to that bullshit anymore.

Moving along, i think we should fight ICASA to increase quotas for local content on commercial radio station, (25%) for commercial radio station and 40% for public radio stations... WTF is that. can't say i agree with a quota on the music getting airplay. worked in oz and in france, but i still think that people will always seek quality. there's a lot of shit floating about being pushed in the name of all that is local. granted, there are a lot of people who are putting out quality instead of quantity - that's the future right there.
improve quality, and the people shall follow. that's my humble opinion.

yeah,,, we're stuck in a vicious circle that needs to be broken though.
we won't have quality music if there is no market for the local product. there won't ever be a market for the local product if we are forcefed ('quality') music from overseas all the time.
the music industry doesn't invest in local music because it makes nice money from re-selling shit from overseas. as a direct result we don't develop local artists or market them properly.

At the Essence we stuck to playing quality music whether local or international.i believe that we have enough local music to make it a 70:30 ratio.it will improve the way people c local music.pela R Kelly sells over 50 000 copies in SA alone and that should stop.
