Title: Africasgateway Mixtape
Post by: The KWEDZA HOD on March 13, 2008, 08:14:17 AM: I've seen this with a lot of other forums sites where all producers and emcees join up to release a mixtape, not 100% sure who takes charge of things behind the scene but it mostly comes out a great success.

Who is in with me, we get our very own mixtape for this site??

I'd have to rule myself out of it tho.

Naaaaah Nyambz...don't chicken out...remember what we spoke about when I was @ yo place? Anyway, my suggestion is....to create a thread where all interested will throw in their work (best)...and a pool conducted to source out tracks that will make it.

But first, a panel of Producers, Dj's and Mcees that will handle the track selection process will also have to be selected for neutrality.

Thanx Trompie. Its not going to be a easy task but its very possible.

We can have the folder where everyone can post something, but give a limited amount of time then we run a selection where the public vote(NOTE!! members only, so that Kats don't get their girl friends voting for them). then after we run another selection of emcees and DJ's or maybe run all during the same time and have different moderators in charge of each.

AG is copyright and publishing isn't..?meaning anything from here is by law AG's...any MOD that can clearify?

Its gonna take alot of time to pull this together, and i dont agree with the whole voting structure....
Heres my idea:
Producers post up there beats ---> all interested emcees listen and decide which beat they like and record vocals for it ---> vocals get posted up and the producers get to perfect the track ---> then we need somebody that will master the full mixtape.

When it comes to copyright and publishing, im sure there must be some indie publishers here that would jump at the oppurtunity... I myself want to start one but I dont wanna go at it alone.

So hows about we get the ball rolling boyz... 8)

Thanx for the input but you must remember there are goin to be a lot of beat makers eho want it and we can't just get anyone, we have to have thee best, as for the emcees maybe they could battle it out or something, but lets not get our heads up. this was just an idea its not 100% sure to happen.

Sure enuf but my understanding with such projects are that theres always alot of interest in the beginning but only a few people will actually make it to the end.....
I say we get as many peeps involved and whoever gets to the finish line surely deserves to be on the mixtape (unless the finished product is real wack :D)

1. Tag your beat, (include necessary info like name of track - dont put "beat1"/"accapella1" as a name pls, your name, samples used in case of copyrights and / or further info that may be required)
2. include bpms' info,
3. write a small bio of yourself,
4. zip, rar...your info and then upload on http://www.LINK REMOVED/ (http://www.LINK REMOVED/)

this will help in ppl judging and finalising.

I think a thread will be created last for the results. I again advice Mods to be active....hopefully I think we can get outside AG media guys to be involved. Anyone can give them a listen after download and they can then e-mail Mods that are active on this project...

My thought for being fair!

yes...might be difficult, but it will depend with the guy who will mix the beat and the accapella....maybe he would make it grimy or just use plug-ins to clarify it...thats work....serious work....but one person I know can clean your vocals sparkling and crispy is Nyambz....maybe if we buy him "Streetwise 2" or "Chicken folder meal" he'll be cool ;D

Big ups to him tho! ;)

Any feel will do...I dont have to regulate as I realise how many foes I might have created, but be free...your fam here on AG...and this will be proudly by AGians regardless style or genre.

I agree with Ruthless re the street anthem. Please get rid of that piano that comes in though, it doesn't work. Just my 2cd.

So Im busy creating a Database of all submitted beats and will make them always available for downloading purposes so if ever links expire, there's always a place where they can be active.

Meanwhile, there's two issues we need to deal with:

1. Lack of accappela's, and
2. no candidates yet to a**ist in putting this together (judges, dj's, media, etc.)

Solution/s:

DIY

Take all submissions with an agreed due date and see who amongst active peeps can be delegated to do something. Share workload and again stick to a deadline, which I prefer to be 31 May 2008. What yo'll skeem?

- the producer, must again remember to tag his/her track/s
* include all details that maybe requiered (your name, track name, featured artist name, a short comment/bio, etc.)
* perhaps tag again with a pic of yourself (I know most of us didn't, but it may help to do so)
* try uploading your ZIPPED file/s on LINK REMOVED for everyone to get it/them easily.

I think yo'll know what to do....time running out...can all niccz who submitted send me promo pics if avail.?

The other stuff's cool, but pics, is dat necessary? Last time someone posted a pic of someone, peeps where like " he looks like a rat" and stuff.

Of course that's not...that's why I said perhaps. I would have thought after all's done, although being a mixtape, yo track showing maybe a tagged pic of past, present or future pic art by or from yourself on projects. PPl have not yet realized, but there power of seeing cover art while playing tracks is huge.

I was flippin thru channels yesterday and my boy saw some dude rapin on SABC1 and he said "cats is it me or does that dude look like a rat", i payed attention to the screen and guess who it was......
