Title: 16 Days of Activism against Abuse
Post by: cash on December 04, 2008, 08:31:36 AM
Whats Cracking AGians, I just wanted to share something with you all.

Imagine if, for 16 days, there was no rape, no child abuse, no sexual hara**ment, no emotional abuse. *Thats whats Cracking*

The 16 Days of Activism campaign challenges South Africans to declare a truce on violence against women and children - and, ultimately, to make it a permanent one.

Around the country, South Africans are being called on to combat violence against women and children. For the eighth year, SA is taking part in the global 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women campaign, which runs from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) through to International Human Rights Day on December 10.

SMS '16 Days' to 31616 and stand to win big prizes.

The R5 cost of your SMS will be matched by the Foundation for Human Rights and used by organisations working with victims of violence.

Although the global campaign focuses on violence against women only, South Africa added children to its campaign because of the high incidence of child abuse in the country.

South Africa is still home to high levels of violence against its women and children, despite a world-renowned Constitution and a legislative overhaul that safeguard women's rights.

This year the campaign, coordinated by the Department of Correctional Services, is popularising the white ribbon as a symbol of personal and organisational commitment to the eradication of violence against women and children.

Sign the online pledge against women and child abuse, and help raise funds for organisations that support survivors of abuse.

The white ribbon, according to the department, symbolises the commitment of the wearer to "never commit or condone violence against women and children, and to speak out about violence where they see it."

The campaign also aims to:

-Generate greater awareness of the negative impact of violence on the development of women and children.
-Stress the importance of partnerships between government and civil society in eradicating women and child abuse.
-Involve men and boys as crucial role-players in the eradication of violence against women and children.
-Provide victims and survivors of violence with information about legislative services and other mechanisms put in place by the government to ameliorate the impact of violence on their lives.
-Raise funds for non-governmental and community-based organisations working with victims and survivors of violence.

As much as I support the initiative and wish that it could become a reality, I have to see it for what it is, a pipedream.

There are too many sick f***s out there and the people who do support the initiative are really the proverbial choir who do not need to be reminded that abusing and killing our women and kids is wrong.

The rest just don't give a f***.

This must be a daily campaign in our communities and not just for the 16 days...the violence against women and children needs to be stopped...

All the silence needs to stop, make that noise...get help...dont just stand around and watch yo fellow sista get beaten up, do something...if u are afraid to intervene, pa** the message to sum1 who can...

No one has the right to beat u up, no matter wat u might hav done...

Speak out...save a life...

I've realised that I see more abuse during this time than any other time of the year... And people find harder to speak about thing that doesn't concern them (me included)... Im sure you know where I come from(Kasi)... Its festive nou... and you know its going to get worse than it is and speaking out aint an option from my hood. We suck it up and hope for it to get better, You don't wanna stick your nose in somebody thats gonna call you a home wrecker's business, After sending a bread winner to jail...

We should make it clear that jail would be the least of his worries.

Instead of reporting him to the cops, gather up a group of your boys and beat the fear of God into him.

I doubt it... What happens if the guy goes and kill each one of the people that beat him up? what then? or worse... He kills his Family and hangs himself?... is the matter solved?

Now thats something else...but the problem needs to be taken care of...too bad counselling is not popular in the african community...ppl need to learn how to manage their anger and resolve their issues...they need to accept that they got problems and work them out properly...

Ppl forget wats important and lose themselves in the moment... They keep things inside and let them pile up until they explode...hurting their loved ones...they resort to drugs and alcohol instead of seeking help...

we as the community must also do our part, we must stop labelling ppl who receive counselling as weak, we must encourage them to get help, giv support, show them there's ways of dealing with issues without havin to be violent...
All that talk of putting a woman in her place needs to stop....if there's mutual respect, there'll neva be a need to "put a woman in her place"...

If we all keep quite...we givin them the impression that their behaviour is acceptable...and the violence against women and children will neva stop....

Say something....save a life...

Man the solution is simple... just try to stay in your own place untill the victim asks for help from you... then what you do is to point the person in the right direction...

Or till she is beaten to death or her child raped and then we can sit and ask what happened.

This is exactly the attitude of apathy that is the cause of the shit.

Yes it will.
Me and my boys were chilling in front of Whispers one night when some boy started beating his girl in the face with fists that you could hear from across the road.

We stomped him, and those Nigerian dudes from the joint across the road even smashed his car's windows, to make the point clear that they won't stand for this shit. It stopped the girl from being beaten, and I'm sure he thinks twice about that kind of thing now.

The girl also left him after that, and she is engaged to one of my boys now.

@ Pyro, I feel your sentiments man. The plight we see our women and children facing is inhumane!

And if knocking a niggas head wide open is the only way you can reach him,so be it! It may not be the right way, but sometimes it can save a woman/child from continued abuse, or even their LIVES!

Whan are droping by in bloem?.... Kovsie misses your Black a**...

I was there for two weeks, just got back on Monday.

I hear they canned the hip hop show and replaced it with some chart shit, due to Sqew and Bangi's on air beefs. I leave for a few months and this happens. Damn.

I'm busy planning something for next year though. Keep your ears open.

The return of Ground Control...

----------------------------------------------DECEMBER DECLARARTION---------------------------
It is that time of the year or rather should I say its Duck Season, your either ducking her down in his backseat or ducking from his punches when he finds out.
It’s that time of the year where if she’s unattended for more that 15 minutes she’s fair game
From this day onwards if you did it drunk nobody who knows can ever bring it up
From this day onward the statement "I WAS DRUNK" is considered grounds to drop all charges as it is seen in the same regard as an insanity plea
From this day on you have 25 days to go crazy, you are allowed not to know which day of the week it is EVEN if you are in church and seated in the front, it is ok to have a beer with every meal including breakfast.
From this day onward if he looks at her while she’s in your presence he is immediately to be considered a potential vulture who would readily pounce on your chicken
December 5th marks a day in which men can take 25 days to reflect on their achievements when men can marvel at their greatness and sheer sparkle.
When they can celebrate themselves, on the hard task of being the brains behind running the world (this disscludes BUSH, ZUMA, MOGABE, MOSISILI AND PEOPLE WHO CAN SPEAK AFRIKAANS FLUENTLY) so successfully.
It is a time in which men can loosen up their ties and forget about work (all butt the secretary), when men can just be lazy for 25 days, after achieving so much throughout the year.....having to pour out all your wisdom into Eve.
December 5th says its ok:
that she’s your next-door neighbor,
its ok that she’s a cousin twice removed,
never mind that you were best friends in 4th grade if his mom is checking you out do like the Stiffmeister.

25 days of serious parting heavy drinking,
25 days in which man is not allowed to use words like responsibility, reliable, accountable and remember.
For the next 25 days no man should:
drink wine or any fruit flavored crap or even alco-pop,
For the next 25 days no man will be home before 1 in the morning,
For the next 25 days man will not eat salad or any form of rabbit food or consume fat-free foods,
For the next 25 days a plate of meet and beer is considered a full mean. NO QUESTIONS.
For the next 25 days it is ok to disappear without a trace for only four days without having to apologies and if you are caught or found out, you need only say "My Bad". No need for reticulated extensive explanations and apologies.
These next 25 days menn must be sharp and quick for you only have 5 minutes from the time you see her to make a move.

Gentlemen I will not lie these next 25 days are only for the fittest and the strongest, where the piss stops are determined by the one with the strongest bladder not the one with the weakest.
For the next 25 days no man should be seen with the same chick at a different party from last week, as a matter of fact said man should be denied access to the given party and his man status will be put up for review or a fine of one case will be paid.
For the next 25 days no man will leave his place of rest without a pack of condoms, emergency airtime and an emergency 40 bucks.
For the next 25 days a man who has not had tang since Monday will not be allowed to share seating privileges or indulge in drinks or conversation with other men
Rather said man will spend that time in the sin-bin where he is to think up ways of redeeming himself while the others drink beer that he paid for.
No man will make his bed for the next 25 days.
For the next 25 days your friends bedroom is a pit stop where you can do any of the following change, shower, sleep, shag(this does not apply to your girlfriend or the girl from last week), use his cologne cream, hide blunts. All this with only 5-10 minutes warning prior to your arrival.
For the next 25 days no man will take down a woman’s numbers for if your PIMP game is good enough she’ll call you (this is in consideration to the fact that you might just clog up your phone)
For the next 25 days you WILL NOT pa** a fellow man by who is hitting on a chick without a drink in hand without offering him a drink. (Said man is to return the favor with double the interest)
The pecking order or the rather the hierarchy of importance for the next 25 days is as follows:
Beer, Tang, Blunt. NO QUESTION. (Although if your tang is holding both and is naked the order of execution falls out of question)

Also this declaration is 100% legal and serves as a get out of jail free card in any Pig station in the SADC region, not only that but if your girlfriend catches you just waive it in her face and she will undoubtedly forgive you. (Please note that this experiment can fail depending on your geographical region)
If your mom arrives and the house is a mess waive it in her face
If your girl walks in, waive it in her face
If you get pulled over by a Pig waive it in his face
If you say something while drunk & the next day you get death stares, waive it in their face
If you scratch or crash with you dads car, run like a mother f***er.

FOR THE NEXT 25 DAYS ANYMAN WHO RAISES A HAND AT A WOMAN WILL BE BEATEN TILL THAT HAND NO LONGER WORKS AND WILL BE SHUN FROM JOINING ANY MAN-CLUB FOR LIFE, HE WILL BE STRIPPED OF THE TITTLE MAN AND WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO ANY AND ALL PUBS CLUBS PARTIES AND BARS FOR LIFE.

From this day all PIMPS in training will receive full rights of qualified PIMPS to be able to prove their skill and craft.
Men don’t get 16 days of lets appreciate men (for the the ladies) so myself and the AA have come up with this 25 days of activism.

This declaration is valid as of the 5th of december for 25 days ONLY.

Yours truly
The 5 star general PIMP

>> MEN THAT READ THIS DECLARATION ARE OBLIGATED TO Pa** IT ON TO FELLOW MEN <<

------------------------------THIS IS THE DECEMBER DECLARATION--------------------

Just as i was about to say "Good Job" to all my niggas for holdin our women down for the 16 Days, just an hour ago I witnessed this guy manhandling and KICKING his wife in Sandton Mall.

When asking the security guards to step in, they were on some "Eish, baqalile manje! Balwela i bonus, bayas'nyanyisa njalo" apparently every year at this "festive" time, husbands get more abusive because of their womens xmas spending.

Even worse they were with their little baby. The woman was screaming on the floor *NO HELP ARRIVED*. The guy picked her up and threw her to the floor again.

f*** all you niggas who beat on women! Die slow "bitch niggas"

Now I'm all for some mob justice on a boring Sunday afternoon, but that shit can backfire.
Not 6 months ago a mate of mine steps in to stop some cat whose smacked his girl in front of this eatery where we were having lunch, with us a few steps behind... which is lucky cos we got there just in time to stop the chick from stabbing my buddy in the back as he re-aligned this cats dentition. that was straight f***ed up and it makes you not want to help.....

I lost a lot of blood that night.

Sadly after being knocked out i never found out who knocked me out, or who the girl i was trying to help was?
But at least i tried to help.
