Not much of a Slum Village fan (Elzhi is dope though), so no gasping for air between 700 hard squeezing people for me.  ;D

Party People need to start bringing us legends, instead of these washed up Neo-Soul rap niggaz.

How bout some, Boot Camp, Some KRS-ONE, Onyx, Gangstarr ( do they still perform together ?), some Madlib, shit like that.

Well, I think Kenny is filling a void in the SA music scene, and I deeply enjoy going to his events, props to him. Now, MrC, while I disagree with you on the Slum Ville, I whole-heartedly agree that BCC needs to come, Heltah Skeltah especially...that would be super-dope!!!

Apparently the request to the Bootkamp has been extended already..
but Buckshot wants $10 000 dollars to do a show... for dolo..
so you can imagine what the whole group would cost..

And theres a shady promoter causing the Slum dates to be unconfirmed. Theres some 'unknown' guy who has offered Slum in the region of R300 000 to come to SA, but the problem is... no one knows this dude.. and they would obviously like to come for a higher price.. so Im still waiting to hear what will happen with that..

Ill Skillz were supposed to be bring Slum Village over but, according to my sources, some shady cat jumped in and hijacked their deal by offering SV more cash.

Apparently this jacker has no pedigree in promotions, no venues lined-up and even had the audacity to approach Ill Skillz for help putting on the event.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

well... this event will not be taking place under the aforementioned auspices. I heard its canned as far as Party People/ Oppikoppi are concerned...

On a side note.. I was chillin at 88 on Friday with this ninja DJ Romz Deluxe and we were randomly discussing this shit.. when I was like.. 'My boys are looking to put this show on'... he was like... 'yeah well, my boys got 300 g's for Slum'.. so I kinda got an insight into who this mystery promoter is although he wouldnt say much more after that...

OH well.. It was a good idea while it lasted..

It's at 10 Henry Nxumalo street, Newtown. Not far from the Ritual Store (Cnr Bree and Henry Nxumalo) so make a stop there sometime while you're in jo'borg and Osmic should tell you where it is. Either that or just roll up to newtown on the night and the gazillion 'car guards' will point you in the right direction.

no thanks. i can ask a cape town car guard for direction but i dont trust no one in your city. i'll ask a few people i know how to get there. was just wondering where it it.

Im familiar with the area you've mentioned, i guess I would find it easy if i were to be alone. thanks Tang.

What? I don't remember recording anything in more than 6 years and I am sure I have never upped anything on AG. I have also never been dissed, so you are probably on drugs or just dumb.

I do like white girls though. And Black ones, and Indian and Chinese ones.

ha ha ha. people have done more weird things to get tickets man (refer to prank gone wrong thread). so this isnt too bad so stop hating.

but on the real though. yeah i like slum village but would i really pay R300 to see them(and the Glitz gang lol, jokes)? if i dont get free tickets i'll find a cheaper party. my free tickets might come with a place to stay and unwanted company. can somebody hook me up with a place to before i sell myself for this cheap?

You know, you have every right, in fact the constitution upholds that.
But as another cat trying to make a living out of rap you should have left it alone.
Next thing cats say they don't want to pay what you think you think your artist are worth. Then what?
Just an opinion.
Move on.

looking into my crystal ball, i see the a**embly on 27th... it's empty... tumbleweeds are being blown by the winds of disappointment down Harrington Street... Long Street is full of heads bitching about paying R250...

 ;D

You know, you have every right, in fact the constitution upholds that.
But as another cat trying to make a living out of rap you should have left it alone.
Next thing cats say they don't want to pay what you think you think your artist are worth. Then what?
Just an opinion.
Move on.
Well said!! co-sign 100%

Just a little bit of comedy, don't be so sensitive!

Slum Village will have already been paid whether or not anyone turns up so don't worry about them.

They've been having noise pollution issues there so I doubt you'll hear anything outside.

i think Cpt Schti is asking the question on behalf of the organizers, not Slum Village. as in, would you 'jokingly' say the same shit if Ill Skillz was putting on the show for the same amount of money?

All joking aside, this is about simple market forces. It's nothing to get emotional about. I wouldn't try to charge R250 for any of my artists because it would be unrealistic. Obviously Slum Village are an established (if not mainstream) international act who have never appeared in Cape Town (as far as I know), so the novelty factor might convince some to pay that money, but it's out of line with general prices down here. Wordsworth was R70, Bahamadia was R70, Masta Ace was R100 (at an established party). The type of person that can pay R250 for a gig is going to be expecting to see Jay-Z, The Game or Lil Wayne. With all due respect to Slum Village, they don't have that broad an appeal. Most non-heads have probably never heard of them. If you're aiming at heads in CPT, R250 is too high IMHO. One thing is for sure, the promoters are going to have to market the hell out of the event (intense flyer and poster campaign, tv and radio etc) and not just rely on Facebook. Me joking about it on AG isn't going to make any difference to how many people turn up - the people will make their own mind up if they can afford R250.

Anyway,,, the proof will be in the pudding. Sadly I'll be in Joburg so I'm going to miss out. I wish them good luck though.

The ANC can TAKE THESE NUTS.

So can the promoters for expecting people to pay R200 for Slum V. They're not THAT good.

well thats all relative - whether they are worth R200 or not.

theres no gun being held to anyones head, you either pay and see slum v or dont pay and not see slum v, that simple.

I dont know who... but someone musta told those dudes that people in JHB werent feeling it very much, cos they came out gunz blazing in Cape Town... they proper killed it.. although if you're a throrough Slum V fan... you could see through some of the stuff.. like Elzhi saying he's gonna freestyle... then doing a verse from the Prequel Mixtape.. I was impressed that he did all of Baatins verses from Vol.2 though...

On a side note though... the organization for this gig was the shoddiest I've ever seen... like ever, ever... The flyer had a different time to when the gig started from the website promo. It was supposed to start at 3 but there were crickets in there till well after 8... but I guess its a start for these new promoter cats. I had a good time though.. how was the Joburg set... why is everyone like 'HHP was better'... or actually.. why the dissapointment..?

Contrary, perfomance was very good when it got going, the DJ was f***ing up a lot even the fat dude was annoyed.
As you can tell I'm not a big SV fan but they killed it plus they have a suprisingly great catalogue.
If you've ever been to Ba**line, you'd know about the steps on the side where people always sit down, even during performances, well dead prez and Slum Village are the only times I've seen people on their feet and wilding out.

i have to agree with kasualtee the organisation was pretty messed up for the most part lots of communication breakdown between the organisers themselves. The show was originally meant to start at 15h00pm being a schoolnight and all but peeps missed their flights man lotsa mad shit happened. lol!

On a brighter notes the performance was illin, well so i thought and the guys turned out to be really cool chilled out average dudes. mad fun too.
