4 most people(i think) your first dilla moment wasn't a wow one. u probably didn't stop to think who made that beat. u were just sucked into Busta's flow, or Q-tip's skill, or Elzhi's slick tongue or Janet Jackson soulful singing.
this is because dilla beats were never arrogant, they were soul vessels that alllowed the arists to do anything they wanted with it.
Take African rhythms off Welcome to Detroit. given to another mc that would hav been a sick love joint, Elzhi would hav broken lyrical backs with it, common wud probably have been the comm on it and dilla just pulled dat crazy swag we came to love from dude.
i know it's a lil l8 4 dilla month but F*** it. JAmes Yancey was the most incredible producer to ever tap da MPC. R.I.P. Dilla DOg

As much as I love Dilla ... I didnt feel African rhythms cuz after I copped the original sample, I realized he did nothing on it...just added more drums!

Mina he is one of my favourite producer of all times.....to me u don't have to make every record dope to be my favourite.....but I will state my reasons why Jay Dee is one of my fav prodcuer of all times.
These tracks Keith Murray - The Rhymes (Remix), ATCQ - 1nce Again are my favourites of all times...I mean I fell in love with these joints back then, and then I knew nothing about productions and how beats were made....
So when I started to take note of Jay Dee and his production....I've noticed that I've been a fan of his music back then without knowing that he's the man behind the above mentioned trax.
Also what made Jay Dee stood out for me....is that he put his whole heart to music....well producers are dope in different ways.....but Jay Dee had his whole heart in music.....too me that more important than just being dope.
