Title: Question to all music makers
Post by: The KWEDZA HOD on August 25, 2009, 09:03:20 PM
Its been a while, been asking myself this question...
As music makers, it be your a producer or rapper or whatever form of music you make and you post it on AG, what are you looking for by posting up here? Are you looking for listeners, feedback or what?

Hope the question is all clear.

What am I on AG for?

Bitching, nuggets of info, good music, random chat, ripping off Mad.

How's the scratching coming?

Ah, in that case, feedback. I like having a ready audience.

Sometime before I have my first child I will hav recorded a track and  I will want people like rob_one and munetsi to give me constuctive feedback and pointers. I think there are lots of people on this board who are highly talendted and have a lot to offer up and coming peers in the way of mentorship. However, time constraints due to well...life... make it difficult to fully engage. i think this is also a place one can use as a test audience coz they aint scared to crit.

I still think you should have come and dropped something at 111 Studios but hey, one day it'd be dope to hear you spit.

FEED!

without it there is no nourishment and are rendered unable to tap into the diverse perspectives that shape and drive the times...

"music should reflect the times & the times reflect the music" (c) GURU

so if we cant get dialogue going and receive each other's opinions about work; be it records, beats, shows or any of the facets of the hiphop culture that house expression we might as well be pissing in the wind day in day out and adding to the superfluous nature of a pointless noise...

FEED!  :)

i want any and everyone to listen to my shit and give feedback on it. i get a kick out of someone not liking my stuff even.. kinda makes me upset and makes me wanna prove that person wrong. its great to hear people compliment something u've put time and energy into constructing and i guess i wouldn't be making music if no one ever got to hear it, critique it and most importantly like it... at the very least respect it!

plus i've realised that a whole bunch of talented musicians spend some time here who may become involved in my projects and vice versa.. networking is big on my agenda too

i guess its both Feed and Listeners, without listeners you wouldn't get feed. i've met a bunch of people here on AG who've help me grow with this music ish. i mean everybody takes me seriously now and i think i owe that to AG. So let's keep up the good work.

I do not mean to be name picking or anything, but there are people who can't handle the truth if I may put it that way.
Kats get angry and whatnot when people don't like their music, so then when should one know when to feed and when not to?

Personally I would take both, I have posted beats(49keys for example) where certain people said they hate the beats, publicly, and i loved that beat. So i take it, its a matter of personal reference. Just wanted to hear what ya kats post for...

Oh, i have also noticed kats not posting because they dont get feed..... SHAME ON THEM!!

initialy i came here to post links to hip hop images for an audience who wanted to know what's happening and how hiphop is being used as a vehicle to uplift the youth.
also to network based on peoples responses to my pics and colaborate.

i took a major break last year from hiphop shoots with my family commitments needing more attention , but I am slowly re entering with a better focus.
aint much changed tho....
lots of people who want everything for free but moan when they get underpaid at gigs or get asked to perform "for exposure".

other than that I come here for comedy and talking a little hiphop to people who dont just listen to radio fluff.

Sh!t... It's been a while.

AG's a source of information for me - updated and ready to go. A learning curb too. As well as a place to showcase my work, critique and just straight discussion.

X.

those b 3 q's.....

forums do provide insight to the on goings of the bizz, mostly here there be producers and mcees, i haven't seen or heard from others in the hip hop world like dancing and graff heads is not doing much if they is avail on the platform. but these forums if u reading btn the lines and get to ask relevant questions to the right peeps, 1 will get answers accordingly.

we have a lotta cats that be involved in oneway or the other in this industry, urself for one, i bet if i were to pick ya brains on sum topics u'd shed more than what i have now.( the SA experience)
it don't help me rading only about the industry and not getting the low down from those who might have the 1st hand experience.

as for how much the industry be available on this platform: we lack mostly the managerial part of it, the marketing gurus or those currently holding positions of power on the mainstream labels. we are currently fronting as indie peeps. when do we get to elevate this and ensure that all aspects are catered for equally, to promote hip hop in all it's sub genres?

eg: i learned more on publishing from here as per experience, from 1 of the threads posted.

there still is a lot to be dun, if only the focus was to be more on the industry growth than just communication amongst us, about gossip and thuggery talk....i'll go like busta asking the dead; where is the money??!?!!....lol
