If you consider 2 days "old" ;D
Good that you opened a seperate thread for it. It deserves its own discussion thread. I am really liking it so far based on 2 listens end-to-end.
Highlights so far:
Kiss the Ring;
Have Mercy;
Black Mozart...
More to come soon.
Will end up around 7-9 out of 10 range.
What do others who have heard it think?
"Chef shine like Marble, rhyme remarkable."
-
I can never download from that link.
Got any others?
-
scratch that i got it, thanks

-
on my first spin, will give feedback after the 3rd spin
-
the whole album is A MONSTER...havent skipped a joint since i bumped it 2days ago....LOVING EVERY BIT of it, was worth the HYPE and then some...RAEKWON has def cemented himself in my opinion as consistent as METH in the WU when it comes to being able to deliver upon request...DOPE record 8)!
-
cant wait to get home and download.
-
Amazing record. Hip-hop needs to support this album. Perfect sequel to the Purple Tape. Couldn't have asked for better. This is Chef's Supreme Clientele. Contender for album of the decade.
-
can someone please up a zipped version of this?
-
You guys were talking loud about that weak Slaughterhouse album thats why I dont trust your opinions

You guys were talking loud about that weak Slaughterhouse album thats why I dont trust your opinions
opinions on here vary so much its almost impossible to make a decision based on a consensus here, cos there rarely is one.
so get it and make ur own opinion

based on first listen, this is great! im loving it. could be one of the best for '09.
-
Video for New Wu.

I also wish you'd be this pa**ionate about supporting artists from your own background and not belittle them when they want more money to open for The Gayme!

Huh? Mef? The Same Meth who released Judgement Day and 4:21?
I have always maintained Rae is one of the superior Clansman
Ghost spazzed out on Gihad though.
-
mad people clearly slept on 4:21. That's a dope record.
-
Surgical Gloves....
some hard shit...
-
Is 2 spins enough to label this album under cla**ics? :-\
-
Production is steller....the rehashed lyrics not so much.
Fav cuts so far pyrex vision(needed to be longer), cold outside (the dude on the hook is dope), surgical gloves(alchemist), have mercy (siegel was dope in this, brought memories of 'what ya life like'), we will rob you(the hook is ehh though shoulda given slick rick a verse instead of hook, gza took a dump on everyone on this though), mean streets.
Thank god no U-god sighting.
7.5/10

This album is banging! Just when I was having this conversation with a friend about, how cats don't make good albums anymore, how everyone caught up in trying to get a hit single, here comes this gem, it was well worth the wait! Am Lovin' It!

YES, the very same method man, in my opinion he has carried the WU banner successfully over the years, him and Ghostdinni have the most solo offerings (not counting Bobby ofcos) and on each one unlike Ghost he manages to reach out to newer fans and not blind sight them with "slangatore" that only a select few can understand and appreciate. in my opinion he has strived, on each record he has released to preserve the original sound of the Clan's man while injecting his own unique way of delivery and story telling...wasnt overly excited about "the day after" record but it was much more worth listening than Cappa's "yin & yang" or Ghost's "fishscale"...or U-God's "dopium"
-
First listen.
It's nice. Can't fault it at all. The only problem is that OB4CL1 was a cla**ic. OB4CL2 has a lot to live up to, but it almost sounds like a selection of tracks that didn't quite make the original.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a dope album. Fave tracks: 10 Bricks, House of Flying Daggers, Black Mozart, Catalina and Mean Streets.
It will probably grow on me. Was just expecting something more groundbreaking.

After a good few listens now, I'm loving OB4CL2. I don't really care that it's not musically innovative, it's just a dope cla**ic. I think Jada says, "f*** saving hip hop, we're bringing the streets back" and that just about sums it up for me. The first decent Wu-Tang release in a long time.
Definitely a summer cla**ic for bumpin' in the ride with the top down.

That Ghost verse on Gihad is decadently delightful. Cla**ic Ghost misogyny took me back to Wildflower

"But on the other side of town, it's Tony, laid up,
This white chick wanna gargle my nuts,
I put the Baileys down, tapped the blunt out,
Grabbed her by the hair, watched blondie love whip my dick out,
Spit drippin down my balls, she slobber me.
That's right, suck that dick, get it hard for me."

this is what Tate called 'decadently delightful'?
*shivers*
joking :D

Listened to it last night for the first time while 'cheffing' in the kitchen...Excitables!

Listening to Ghost when he is in "misoggynist mode" is like watching an ultra violent Rated R indie French flick (Le Doberman?). Its nothing I condone but is such vivid outlandish fantasy you can't stop watching/ listening in shock. Am I a bad man for being entertained by this?
Wildflower:
"But f*** it, I f***ed you on a chair with three legs
Broken tables, had you screamin while you was bitin on my cables
Whistlin to the washing machine, I threw it on spin
If your pussy dry, spit on my dick and put it in
My dick's the bomb baby, marvelous hot steak
Plus I'm conceited Starks make the biggest so-called rape"

I don't think Ghost is a misogynist, he just doesn't like 'bum a** bitches', 'whores' and girls who like fisting and taking 'bones like rib-eye steaks'.
Politically incorrect maybe.
-
girls who like fisting and taking 'bones like rib-eye steaks'.
But these are the best kind!
-
Politically incorrect maybe.
Cursing out and sexually abusing women is not misogyny?
Yeah Ghost is not getting invited to speak at any feminist rallies ;D
For real though this Rae album is like a complete cinematic experience. Vivid tales of criminal capers with violence, sex, nudilty, drugs, macho bragadocio chest bumping and comradery all served over a seamlessly fitting soundtrack.
Perfect recipie for the sequel to a cla**ic.
Compliments to the Chef.

It's not that he doesn't like them, it's more that he doesn't respect them :)

That's what Necro said when asked about the pron chicks he slaps around that get fisted in his vids.
I feel the same way. If you allow me to do these things, I will keep you around, but don't expect me to respect you.
I still haven't listened to the album. Maybe I should put it on now. Now I really wish I bought those headphones.

Wildflower was pure misogyny. Full stop.

That's it! Got to pick this record up! I thought this album would never come (at least while I'm still interested in hiphop). Do our shops already have it in stock?
Wait, didn't Supreme Clientele drop in this decade too?
-
Whuush this is good album, 8 joints got me to nod my head. Thank God for Google, you type mixtape/album/track name of your choice then comma, then type "Mediafire" then Search. You have the link, Nice!! No more struggle. Slaughterhouse album was Lukewarm but had some good joints on there. To download the latest mixtape of your favourite mcee go to Mixtapepa**.com or Datpiff.com

SMH @ Latte sounding straight Tina Turner. Like watching an abused woman keep going back for more.
-
Im no Tina son. Ghost loves the ladies! note I said Ladies! watching Lynch and Tarantino movies and lovin it, would that make me a Tina? ... I know this hardly makes my point but im sure you get my drift...
I don't know why you acting up cos if I had protested the mysogyny you woulda been ready to bend me over your knee an brand my a** a feminist... what these #%$ want from a 'nuh? I'll just cla** this as one of those male things...that alphamale shit...cats always hate it when a woman voices interest in another dude... I love ghost as a musician (in fact for me its a toss-up between he and Slick Rick for best storyteller of all time)- he has this ability to put you in the narrative as if you're there watching the shit go down, and I happen to find that extremely sexy *swoons PRETTY TONEY uuuuhnnn!!!* ... just deal dude.
-
f*** no!!! Bussa Bus only ups his game up when he features them Wu tang niggaz and Nas and not on his albumz no more :'( .That Flow he spit on "About Me with Raekwon" was ridiculously bananaz i last heard that Flow in the 90s and when he featured Ol dirty Bastard. Overall nice joints on From Raekwon but this is not a cla**ic.

OB4CL2 has been on constant rotation. This album, much more so than anything Nas or Jay Z has been able to cook up, has brought real street hip hop back to the limelight. Let's hope this sparks a resurgence.

So 2months later is anyone still listenin to and enjoying this? How is it aging?
Msani claims its average after nostalgia wears off. I argue its not that, more the current generation of music listeners is gluttonous and wasteful with ADD to boot.
Thoughts?
-
the current generation of music listeners is gluttonous and wasteful with ADD to boot.
this is just human development. is there really a point in railing against it? whole genres are being created and rendered irrelevant in a matter of months.

Yes. Gluttony and waste are bad. The artists deserve more than 1.5 listens on crappy laptop tweeters. Bad enough we're not paying for the musi anymore.
I have started rationing the amount of music I DL to 2 albums a week. Fugg a gluttonous hoarder.
P.S. OB4CLII still bangs hard 2months later. Kiss the ring!

You are in perpetual nostalgia ...soldier, carry on.
Though i would agree with you about hoarding of music...or people churning it out more than ears can afford to listening to.
-
P.S. OB4CLII still bangs hard 2months later. Kiss the ring!
yep
-
Ecstacy still doesnt come close to it :P honestly though I am still judging this album to this day well few other dope albums came after it and....actually Tate what more do you still want us to say about this album?
-
The Source(Im talking bout the old one) would get an album and review it before anyone, the source give it a 5 mic cla**ic the next issue you will see letters from readers disputing the reviews but at the end The Source's decision will be the one that count...I dont think some of those albums that made the cut then would have if we had internet then

i don't understand people who hoard music. it's seems childish to me. like, you waste bandwidth/money accumulating music you don't listen to.
but there's no point in railing against the rate at which music is consumed. everyone is swamped. everyone has access. you just have to seek out your own circuits and stick to them. those artists that you like etc.
personally, i don't even f*** with the UGHH2009 thread like that. i download music from artists that i like and can't buy as well as to just hear something i've heard about. most of the shit i don't go back to, though. even with CD's.
it's just how it is, bredren.
i liked Cuban Linx 2 a lot at the time, but i don't bump it anymore. i just don't feel that driven towards it, really.
like, i'll bump that Zuluboy album that came out a few months back more than OB4CL2. it just had more of an impact on my day to day.
-
Wow.
I saw the Nu Wu video yesterday. Had to store that *ish on my hard drive. Some madd nice Wu vibes going on. "He's a f***ing cop!"
Raekwon brought it back. I had my doubts, but as destiny would have it, I was wrong. I'm actually gonna cop this at the end of the month, haha. Who woulda thought.
