im sure hes gonna sale a lot during the first week, he re-released "so far gone" commercially and he sold 70k first week considering that all of the tracks were freely available for download and that put people off otherwise he would have sold a lot more

What is it about these artists: Drake, Kid Cudi, Jeremih etc; they release ONE track that people like, and then everyone's like "oh this boy is dope. He's gonna be the net big thing" Uh, no. There's just another one hit wonder. And really, it's only the BEAT that they like. You can't say Drake or any of the others I mentioned have fresh lyrics. Drake's song You the f***ing Best or w/e it' called, the lyrics sound like a million other r'n'b songs. Come to that, the beat aint that good either. Goes to show, must be a really slow time in he pop industry

drake has aleady released 3 mixtape(including so far gone) but from what have read he was on a tv and used to dable in music and i guess most of his fan know him from the tv show and they just followed him when he made a move to music...have a listen of drake's room for improvement or room for improvement you might just change you mind. he has released a plathora of dope songs.
to me jeremih is the new j holiday: by next year nobody is gonna know who he is.
as for cudi, that man on the moon cd is pretty cool...

i also think that time have changed and a lot of non-black are listen to hip hop and artists have recognised that and they are trying to cater for their new listeners. so they got make music that make black people go damn! and make white people go sweet!

That's my point. They're all probably going to be one-hit wonders. I never said they hadn't been around a while, I said they had ONE track that people like (by that I mean most people, like major air-play). But everyone is still saying they're going to be major, they're "dope", and the worst description I've heard - "fresh". To me they sound like a million other one hit wonders who had one nice track with a dope beat. And I'm not listening to no Drake r'n'b album thankyou.

i wouldnt go as far as saying he is the truth,he has got a lot of potential. i think last time an artist had so much a buzz without releasing an album was canibus. he was dubbed the next big thing...where is he now?

so just because drake has been in the music industry for a minute you guys decide to be ignorant and resist to call him the best artist currently in hip hop? he may sound gay or rnb, but he definitely knows what he's doing and can mos definitely make you move your head. he lives you wondering with every line he spits and you guys choose to disregard his lyrical power just because he is not gangster and all that fake thugging shit.

if you are talking about lyrical power and all that, you have to put drake on top of your list. and if you still wondering about what im trying to say just take a listen to the track where he features trey songs, the joint is called "successful"

and i want you to think deep down and come out and tell me drake is whack.

comparing drake to canibus is a straight fail if you ask me, these are utterly different artists we are talking of with utterly different lifestyles and personalities. canibus almost had a life but he decided to choose a wrong path in his career, i mean that blatant because if he made all the right choices he would've been here right now, right?

drake is a fresh artist, he is new to everything and is on the verge of making a legacy for himself. the least you people can do is to listen to what he has to offer the world instead of judging him before his career can even begin. he dropped a mixtape, sounded like an album and had the streets buzzing and talking about his name. i bet your sisters are on mxit now talking about his joints. i so wish drake lasts long and proves you haters wrong. ill be laughing my a** off to the music store

May I just say that if I had to listen to everything that Jay Z says then I would listen to whatever my cereal box told me to do. Secondly I was never into fifty nor was I into dmx *makes gaggin sounds** I just don't like drake period, I can't for the life of me seem to get what he has to offer! But hey, different strokes for different folks.

DAMN SON!!! That track is fiya!!!!!!!!

Not. What where you expecting? The beat sounds like a million other r'n'b songs. When Drake's rhymes aren't *yawnz* they're played out and old punchlines. Another problem: Lil wayne. This must be the most over-rated rapper this decade.

Since people were comparing Canibus and Drake, lets compare the first verse of "Man of the Year" by Drake with the first verse of "Poet Laureate II" by Canibus.

Quote
Man of the Year - Drake ft. Lil Wayne
Damn!
I done walked in here
Lookin' like the mothaf***in' man of the year
Think I had the mothaf***in' plan of the year
Which was simply to make groupie fans of my peers
And I get my girl whatever she desire
And my niggas get whatever they require
These rappers old, I'm the reason they expire
Plus I got a city that I Carey like Mariah
Damn!
That punch line was predictable
I still got you shittin' bricks, homie, quit the bull
And we don't need new members
To me the clique is full
And I be getting' the same women that tip the pool
Believe or not
I receive a lot
So, I be wearing the same Gucci that Jeezy got
And I be buyin' the Louie that Kanyizzy cop
And I be rippin' the same reords that Weezy rock
This shit is east pot
That's why I'm ready, man
I'd never copy Norbit like eddie, man
Did you get it? Eddie Murphy was in Norbit
Or was it way over your head?
Did you forfeit?
Yeah, I take a woman shopping in a store quick
Her a** big, she just tryin' to make a four fit
Yeah, they need to issue out a recall
I'm goin' up and they headin' into a freefall
The fundamentals are needed, you playin' street
And I was out at BET, but I didn't see ya'll
These skee-low rappers wishing they could be tall
Lettin' all their fake friends use them like a free stall
Yep!

Quote
Poet Laureate II - Canibus
Yo, why is the ripper so ill?
That would be a unpardonable breach of confidence for me to reveal!
He said one day all eyes would be on me
when they look up in the sky and see the neon 'C'
Rhymes inscribed on a nickel disk encased
in gla** with an ion beam for longevity
For more then 10 centuries, impressions and memories
the first time-machine inventor will mention me
Canibus was a visionary indeed
he believed light could travel in multiples of c
The organic supercomputer that solved the mysteries
of Klein-Kaluza with 2 blue metric rulers
Liked Cool J, but thought Stephen Jay Gould was cooler
and he never liked to propagate rumors
Smoked Canary Island cigars
liked American luxury cars and beautiful Asian broads
He had a strong mind, he used to philosophize
about rhymes while he was pruning his Bonsai
He claimed that he had written the greatest rhyme of all time
but he would never take it out his archives
He wrote 2 songs per day
and was constantly was experimenting with his wordplay
In his youth he did a report on the Sloan Digital Sky survey
he got an F but he deserved an A
I followed his career from the first day
it seemed the lack of support contributed to his inert ways
I seen him put in 24 hour workdays
with deferred pay, undeterred by the word "shame"
Public humiliation was the worst pain
he was spinnin out of control like a cla** 5 hurricane
He said he wouldn't want another emcee to suffer the same
especially when there's nothing to gain
He was the illest alive but nobody would face it
he spit till his toungue was too torched to taste, it
properly funded corporations carbon-dated his latest creations
to extract the information
They found it utterly amazing
they claimed the body of his work was the same thing as a priceless painting
Never mattered to him, the art galleries hated him
cause Thomas Kinkade called, said he would take 10
Complete enigmas wrapped in puzzles encrypted in language
with sound but without shape or signature
Kept files in his garage, on MS-DOS
in a fire-proof pod, we thought it was odd
Outside there was a shed with an Oppenheimer lock
he apparently kept more wax then Madame Tussaud's
We were in total awe, cause it blew our minds
so many rhymes that were intricately designed
He WAS Poet Laureate of his time
and if you dont mind, I'd like to share some of his rhymes

Anyone with half a brain can tel Canibus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Drake. And Drake is average at best. Even the beat on Poet Laureate II>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the beat on Man of the Year

Co-sign. I think that Drake is a great singer and actor but as a rapper? I dunno. He does have potential
but all I hear is the same crap that most rappers come out with all the time "I'm the best, I got hoes,
I got money," etc. Like Scarface said "It ain't $#!t to me". Drake sounds like the same cats that I'm sick
of hearing but some part of me tells me that he can improve. And Jay-Z saying that Drake is the next best thing, that's his opinion, I don't like Jigga or care what he thinks but for the people who like both
artists, to each their own. I thought Sutter Kain was gonna be the next best thing back in '04 (So what
if him drowning someone's grandma in bleach does it for me, sue me  :D ::))) . Look
where he is now. A nobody.

Drake be the biggest thing in HIP POP rite now, and he rightfully deserves it coz he be giving the ladies what they wanna hear (that slow beats and easy to understand rhyme schemes with the singing), i say let him do hes thing and stop tryna compare him to HIP HOP artists coz now yall sounding all ignorant like kanye up in here...

Ive personally listened to So Far Gone and only 2 tracks stand out for me... The whole mood of it was to laid back and it just sounded like 808 and heartbreaks with all the singing..

i guess its because he's an artist that can do more than rap. and once again, he's in the hiphop industry just like jay-z. everyone is entitled to their own point of view and jay thinks he's "drakes up next, see wat he do wit it". jay thought lupe fiasco would be the next big thing when he dropped.. so wat?

i think hiphop heads r selfish for real.. jus coz homie can sing as well as them rnb cats then he can't be hiphop? drake is just a talented kid tryina ply his trade as an entertainer.. he can rap, sing, act on an unbelievable level.. he doesn't have an album out but he's had more features than lil wayne in the last 4 months..

personally, i think drake's the shit! and thats MY opinion

drake is dope, caniubs....mmm? dunno, look talentless needs to get something here that sometimes its not always about the lyrics only, the flow and the delivery should also be considered. never listened to any stuff from canibus coz i felt like he was overrated and shit. drake is fresh, dropped a mixtape and had the whole world buzzing on him like a pizza man. name one rapper that has done that in the last 5 years, bare in mind this is only a mixtape we talking about.

the lyrics and the flow of a song are compliments, the other makes way for the other and if canibus cant do it like drake does, drake is dope period!!!!!
