...kind of says it all, doesn't it.
One of the most important artists to ever practice rapping. If I had to pick a favourite - not necessarily the best, but a favourite - it'd be The Predator and Today Was A Good Day. The LA Riots had such a presence on that album.

# 1 on my list. No one is seeing Cube. Probably the only artist to release 5 consecutive cla**ics.
1) Straight Outta Compton - NWA
2) Kill @ Will - EP
3) Amerikkas's Most Wanted
4) Death Cerifiticate
5) Predator
Lethal Injection is also a good 4/5. Everything after that was doo-doo, but still had a few gems in between.
Dude was never afraid to voice his opinions and made some of the most controversial songs ever recorded in the process. He was saying what a lot of black people were feeling @ the time but didn't have the guts to say it out loud. He was a new-age Malcolm X.
Rebel, Gangsta, GOAT.

YEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYUYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIHH

Yeah Cube was dope but Hollywood made him soft but I understand the brother got to make living
-
^^ i dont think thats true...i was never a Cube fan back in the day coz i never really understood the dude coz i was young but if u listen to cube on Raw Footage - the dude is talking some reeeeeeeeeeeal shit - he is still a rebel gangsta - talking about social issues and every day struggle... still a true OG....
like he said in laugh now cry later....
"they give us gunz and drugs...then wonder why in the f*** we thugs"!!?
-
Cube is a Pioneer on all levels. With music he went where others(so called gangsta/thug rappers) feared to tread.
He didn't go soft. His evolution into a serious businessman with various interests was a natural progression and shows maturity. He can't be on the same shit now as 15 - 20 years ago.
The hustle has to grow and expand to keep from going under, especially in these fickle times.
-
Salute this thread, not a big fan but these three albums Amerikkas's Most Wanted, Death Certificate, Predator are undeniably raw and i can bump right now and not be bored ....

Westside Connection
War 'N Peace Vol 1
I was never really into this kind of hip-hop. maybe I misunderstood it?

That's the Ice Cube i don't like as well. Go back to his earlier catalog.

From AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted to Death Certificate (roughly 1990 - 1992), Ice Cube was unf***witable, IMO. Seriously, he was my favourite MC in those years. He had some cool tunes on The Predator and Lethal Injection, but he never scaled the heights that he did on those first two albums + the Kill At Will EP.
By the way, Death Certificate is one of Hip Hop's best concept albums. And AMW was ahead of its time as an East Coast/West Coast collaboration.

Common dissed him
Yeah, that's because Cube thought that "I uesd to love H.E.R." was a diss to the
West Coast. I remember that Cube also had beef with Cypress Hill over that
"Friday" song. He ripped it from the Cypress's "Put your sets in the air".

top 5 greatest of all time, let's go kids. once upon a time there was a rapper named cube who frowned a lot...
