Aside from the twelve most controversial AIDS posters, Corey Gunz and The Mad Raper, come check something that is a little more interesting.
On January 24, my podcast, 20/20 Hip-Hop Radio, will celebrate its 100th Episode. And we're doing something special. Our podcast brethren - people like Naturelle, Tate, TNG, Msanii XL and Magenge - our going to be helping us celebrate.
Every day next week, from Monday January 18, we're debuting a podcast a day from each of these legendary hosts, culminating in the 100th episode of 20/20.
It'd be great if you'd check it out. You can download the shows at http://2020.mypodcast.com

20/20 100TH EPISODE - TNG EDITION
The first of our week-long podcast celebrations for our upcoming 100th Episode. This opener stars our man TNG.
Most well known as a member of the landmark crew The Innovators (responsible for multiple mixtapes and the cracking record The Send Off) along with his boy Second Son, the Zimbabwean-born TNG is a former host of Chillin' With TNG on RMR 89.7FM in Grahamstown. He currently runs the ultra-dope TNGLive podcast, which can be heard on http://tnglive.mypodcast.com. Thanks again to TNG for rockin' with us...
Remember, there's a brand new show EVERY DAY this week. You don't want to miss a second of this.
TOMORROW: A former Hiphocalypse DJ goes nuts...

I remember that "When I rock the mic.." Winch studios if I remember ;D
Then trying to perform that song live with 7+ or something hip hop egos in a musky G-town basement nightclub/ shebeen. "I sip the Amstel...errr... err... I sip the Amstel". When was that?
Ah the original G-Town Hip Hop allstar jam. Good times.
Interesting to reflect on the MC skills progression Rob.
Thoroughly enjoyed the show TNG. Good to have you back.
I got next!

20/20 EPISODE 100 - SENSAI TATE EDITION
DAY TWO! TNG did a bang-up job yesterday, but now he hands the reins over to someone with a serious reputation...
Sensai Tate is the founder and former host of arguably the best and certainly the longest-running hip-hop radio show in Africa. The Hiphocalypse, which broadcasts on RMR 89.7FM in Grahamstown, will be ten years old this year. Tate - who, like TNG, was born in Zimbabwe - currently hosts the Hiphocalypse Fortknights, a podcast version of the radio show. You can find it at http://hiphocalypse.mypodcast.com
Cheers Tate!

Yep. But come on mayne, that club was the foundation for what is now EQ up there. That was like 02/03 I think. You talking about Dizzy Don, so wasted on that "Bacardi" he forgot the rest....good times good times.

20/20 EPISODE 100 - MAGENGE EDITION
Day three of our throwdown, and this time it's them Magenge boys who got the hookup.
Juice and Mak represent hip-hop - nothing more, nothing less. These longtime 20/20 supporters throw together a cracking show (which you can find on http://magenge.mypodcast.com) joined by a specialised hip-hop website (www.magenge.co.za). They were the first to answer the call for the 100th Celebrations podcast, so it's with pleasure that we present the Magenge Edition of 20/20.
Tomorrow, Kenya gets in on the act...

20/20 EPISODE 100 - NATURELLE EDITION
Naturelle not only has the best intro ever (shouts to my Spike Lee fans) but runs a dope podcast behind it. Heed The Call Sessions is the only podcast we know that mixes Limp Bizkit with Big Daddy Kane and Tumi with Method Man and Mary J. Blige (not all at the same time, obviously) and is super dope.
Naturelle spent some time in the UK, where 20/20 is based, as a film student at Sussex University. This meant that she had the opportunity to come and crash a 20/20 Episode last year, bringing her dope-a** style to the table.
You can find that episode here: http://tinyurl.com/ykfqpy6
Naturelle's podcast is here: http://naturelle.mypodcast.com
Tomorrow: you thought we was done? Naw. We just getting started up in this. A bonus episode for all you herbs before the 100th Episode itself drops on Sunday night.

20/20 EPISODE 100 - XBC JUMPOFF EDITION
I need to apologise to Chyll and MJ from XBC Jumpoff. When I was first knocking around the idea of these 100th Episode Editions and got in touch with everybody, I must have had the wrong email address for the guys, because I couldn't get hold of them.
Nevertheless, when they saw what was going down, they were like the Outlawz: "We want in!" And so it came to pa** that they came through in a clutch and created what must be one of our favourite shows this week.
I'd go on to describe just how dope a show XBC Jumpoff is on the regular, but I was out partying last night and the hangover is monumental, so here's the official description of how Chyll and MJ rock:
"With similar interests in DJing, music and art between the founding members the formation of XBC was inevitable. Hosted by Gweru's own Usual Suspect, MJ based in Brisbane and DJ Chyll a.k.a The Bishop representing XBC Randani, Bhuriten respectively. XBC Jumpoff took off in 2007 as an initiative to give listeners an enjoyable show filled with lots of music and information to serve as a bridge between artists and fans alike bringing us all closer together. With plenty of innovative ideas XBC has grown as time has unfolded and ultimately become one of the African shows that showcases some of the most amazing talent the Motherland has to offer."
You can find the podcast at http://xbcjumpoff.mypodcast.com
Many thanks again to the XBC boys. You came correct! PS: Don't forget - there's still one more show to go. The actual, legit, 100% official 100th Episode of 20/20. Sunday.

You're a bit late in the day, aren't you Pyro?
-
I thought I am allowed to be fashionably late, since I am so f***ing awesome.
-
Well, you've got about two hours to get moving. Then the 100th Episode is up and it's all over. ;D
But you are more than welcome.
-
You'll have to delay it for a week or so, I am really busy right now.
I'll start on Tuesday night though.
-
Too late I'm afraid. After a week overloaded with guest podcasts, we're calling it a day on that for a little while. You should have let me know a little earlier.
Mixing the 100th episode now, just finished the intro.

20/20 EPISODE 100
It's here.
Firstly, a huge thanks to TNG, Sensai Tate, Msanii XL, Naturelle, Juice, Mak, Chyll and MJ. You ever need us, we're there. If you haven't heard their podcasts, you can look below for all the individual cuts. Or you can click here for the big, long show with all their contributions. http://tinyurl.com/yj3guxs
Secondly, we try not to look backwards too much. So in this, our 100th Episode, we're looking forward. What are going to be the biggest records this year? And by the way, whether you're listening for the first time or you're an old fan, I think you rock. Thank you. Drinks on me.

Bumping the landmark 100th episode at the airport now. This that Travellin Man music entertainment I need for 1hr airport waits.
A side thought: The week prior to 2020 100th reminded me of period after the Death of Superman with all the various interpolations of Superman (Steel/ Superboy etc...).So this official 2020 be the Return of Superman (deac stop sleeping) ;)
Edit: Rob how do you hail J Cole as whogotnext then hate on Jay Electronica for not having an official release to date?

Because J.Cole has an official release date (can't remember where I saw it, but May 18 seems to be the day). He also two physical mixtapes: The Come Up and The Warm Up, whereas Jay Elec has a couple of half-arsed internet releases.
Anyway, glad you like the show. That's a good comparison ;D

Nice way to cap off the 100th show....the wu track :o,
great line up....

That collabo album is going to be nuts. Although what Raekwon means by saying "Blow my nose for me..." is anyone's guess.

Because J.Cole has an official release date...
smh @ J Cole > Jay Electronica on the strength of a tenative release date.
"spit that Kurt Vonnegut/ that blow your brain, kurt cobain/ that nirvana sh*t/"

Different strokes. I (may) have an opportunity to interview Jay Elec in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

Rob, flippen dope music. That J.Cole verse whoa. Who produced the song after that? That's that damn bounce! I like. By the way by vocals I hope you meant he had a verse too on that BP3 track. Coz when he by the time he said "flow's colder than gold diggin hoes' shoulders when broke ni!!! approaches," i was convinced he could rap.
I don't want to chip into the Jay Elec/J.Cole comparison though.

Nah, sadly I think he only sung. Pity, really, he woulda killed Jay.
Just Blaze produced the Jay Elec track. Best thing about it.
-
I meant the song after the Talib/Mos/Jay/ J Cole. The Cole track.
P.S. A Star is born 3rd verse is all J.Cole. it's where I first heard him. I don't even think that's him singing the hook.
P.P.S Here's him talking about how that track was born "under no pressure"> http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1621225/20090910/50_cent.jhtml

You're quite right. My bad.
The track is Lights Please. From The Warm Up mixtape. Not sure who made the beat.
