So, I have decided to be of use to my community (hehe)  and have taken it upon ´my sucker for pain self´ (well starting a thread is scary business in this open terrain)  to be the honourary custodian of randomness by being chief contributor, moderator (askies Milk) and critic (yes, yes, its all bout me) of "The Random Quote A Day" thread.

some might make sense, some might not, but then again, has life ever made sense huh?

I was a Normal Dj for A year, then Head DJ for a Year then Programme Manager for Another year, before I even got an opportunity to get a demo seriously looked at.

But its all good, hold down all u want, its great practise, record it all, try to make a polished demo in any time like that u hav. thats if u wanna do the professional radio thing. I´m new to the pro game though, After varsity I worked at Cape Talk for a bit, and then I came here.

I figure I deserve to get paid for it now, after doin it for 4 and a bit years for free. Man management was a bitch.

Sorry man, mc,vocalist and dj, not producer yet. You need to lace the mic at open mics to attract producers, most cats wont be interested unless they know what they gettin on their beats. You could also just start a band or try to produce yoself. Hell man, if needs be start beatboxin.

Hey man, u not findin a producer, and u´d be amazed how many peeps in yor hood have music instruments and know how to play them, church bands are a great place to find peeps. They always want to try sumthin  different. Its up to you, maybe u shud start with a very minimalist sound, due to financial constraints, and develop it as the opportunity presents itself.

OR you could buy beats from sum of the cats on this site, quite a few of the posters here are nice producers and they sell beats and sum, ok only nyambz that i know of, will even master it for you post vocals for a nominal extra charge.

OR you cud wait until god graces you with a producer  :-?

I haven´t been to my church in yrs man, I know sum peeps though, I´ll see wot I  can make of it. I met a producer already he´s cool, but I´m at the bottom of his list ight now. maybe another verse will do the trick.

Thing is man, this whole music thing needs cooperation, the producer needs to wanna work wit u as much as u wanna work wit him, so maybe impressin him wit a verse is wat u shud do. ^^^^ Well we all know the best way to see thru the eyes of a child is to 1st cut the back of they hed off then you can just pop the squishy bits rite out and then you can make a mask, it helps if the kids ears are pierced cos then you just thread sum string thru the holes in the ears, but really its no major problem to punch the holes wit an icepick or screwdriver yourself.

- THE LIGHT...OF THE STORAGE CLOSET? -

a few nights ago a perculiar thing happened.
an electric storm caused a blackout in the neighbourhood. and when the lights went out. i felt my way through the darkness to the storage closet where we keep candles for nights like this.
i was turning to leave with the large candle in my hand when i heard a voice. 'now hold it right there'.
i stopped. somebodys in here i thought. i took another step. 'hold it i said'. there was the voice. who said that. 'i did'. the voice was near my hand.
who are you. what are you. 'im a candle'. i looked at the candle i was holding. it was burning a strong golden flame. it was red. 'dont take me out of here'. what. 'i said dont take me out of this room'. what do you mean. i have to take you out. youre a candle. your job is to give light. 'but you cant take me out. im not ready. i need more preparation'. more preparation. i couldnt believe my ears. 'yeah. ive decided i need to research this job of light giving so i wont go out and make a bunch of mistakes. youde be surprised how distorted the glow of an untrained candle can be. so im doing some studying. i just finished a book on wind resistance. im in the middle of a great series of tapes on wick build up and conservation - and im reading the new bestseller on flame display. have you heard of it?'. no i answered. 'you might like it. its called waxing eloquently.' alright then i said. youre not the only candle here. ill just blow you out and take the others. i heard the other voices. 'we're not going either'. you are candles. your job is to light dark places. 'well thats what you may think. a british accent. you may think so. but im busy'. busy. 'yes. im meditating. im meditating on the importance of light. its really enlightening'. a short purple candle spoke up. 'im waiting to get my life together. im not stable enough. i lose my temper easily. i guess you could say that im a hothead'. the last candle. a female voice. 'id like to help' she explained. 'but lighting the darkness is not my gift'. not your gift. what do you mean. 'well im a singer. i sing to other candles to encourage them to burn more brightly'. she began a rendition of this little light of mine. the other three joined in. hey i shouted above the music. i dont mind if you sing while you work. come on you guys there is plenty of time for this later. there is a crisis out there. they wouldnt stop. i took a step back. and considered the absurdity of it all. four perfectly healthy candles singing to each other about light but refusing to come out the closet. one by one i blew them out.
i stuck my hands in my pocket and walked back out into the darkness. where are the candles they asked. they dont...they wont work. where did you buy those candles anyway.

oh. from the church that closed down across town.
