I smell the over-use of a sample on the lead single.

yeah, where? i thot he was afro-american.
Its weird one month you have nver hurd of the cat and the next he is featuring on everyone's song including a french rapper and puerto rican RnB vid.
He's voice irritates me on sum of these songs.

"A Senegalese African, AKON moved to the United States when he was seven. His family is headed by legendary percussionist and jazz musician Mor Thiam, whose expertise for playing the Djembe, a traditional African drum, has been touted as "unrivaled." Being brought up in an environment that treasures the true artistic value of musicianship and revels in the mastering of instrumental skill has had a momentous affect on AKON."

yeah that's the weird thing..."everybody" hates his voice but howcome he's so successfull and rolling with all the major players and stuff...how can someone so annoying be so damn popular!!!!!!...well my theory is, there  must be someone higher up in the american industry supporting him...there has to be more than meets the eye to his success story,it doesn't make sense to me!!!!   8O

there's this great song he did with Tunji from Inverse (Nigerian background) called 'Africa'... or something like that. It was a mixtape exclusive, but I cant for the life of me remember whose mixtape or what it was called  :?  Definately worth looking out for though.

Otherwise I dig this guy's voice. His tone reminds me alot of those old(er) Central & West African singers.
I can see why it could irritate some people but I love it. It's a nice point of difference for him, esp. cos commercial R&B is just so samey.
