Yo Sound Engineers, and or producers interested in Sound Engineering peep this.

Very interesting talks and knowledge. At SABC Studios (Sea Point) in Cape Town tonight. I was there last night and it was worth the effort and time and money. R50 which is nothing considering you get a Sound On Sound Magazine upon registration which costs R130 in local bookstores. Tonight is final night then they off to JoBurg tommorow.

Nice kat. Just add a condition since the beats are cheap:

1. They should mention you and link you and your site if possible.

And also, if they release commercially you should get your name on for royalties. Its not like the artists are paying you, so you might as well keep those.

word! About the buzz, most of the time thats a shielding problem, or occasionally an earthing problem. Ive fought with that a couple of times.
Pa**ive or Active? Depends on your budget. A good Pa**ive set of monitors coupled with a matchingly great amplifier will cost a lot more than equally sounding actives. Actives are also easier to transport and you need not worry about what amplifier to use, u just give them a good signal and you game.
And eish, i would stay away from Alesis, rather go for KRK. But in the end its your ears, with your room, with your speakers that determine final result.

It's fun when you get something panning left to right real fast (like a meteor sound or the sting on 'Swagger Like Us') on a good pair of cans. The first time I heard it I damn near ducked!

Google "virtual barbershop", check it on youtube or look for a hi-res version for downlaod. Forward to 3mins if u in a rush, but the whole thing is crazy!

Word peeps! Yeah ive had a listen to the Beyer Dynamics and they are crazy with the detail, especially the reverbs and stereo fields. im on Fostex T50RPs and they are aight on low end and highs, but not on the stereo field. But it all depends on knowing your listening medium in the end. Like i know my headphones and can get a great mix, but if i were to get HD650's and mix on them without knowing them well, id have a messed up mix.

But on the topic of room acoustics itself, its also on speaker placement in the room, the furniture, the carpets/curtains you have, the walls and ceiling etc and then you can deal with the acoustics. I got a subwoofer recently and im still trying to find that perfect positioning and low frequency crossover. I cant really think about acoustic treatment till ive got the optimum setup.

yeah dope trilogy. Watched it for the fisrt time last year and have them all on my PC now.

I was compelled to watch them after i read the first book, the book is beyond words too, 3times as full of action as the movie.

Thanx D. Good article... & music IS headed that way. Soon music will be free & just a way to make money in other ways. Ive been following the music trends over the past year, and looking at how Live Nation is going, & how other labels are changing their strategies, i think its best we follow suit in SA & Africa.
