« on: July 13, 2006, 10:43:00 PM »
http://cdbaby.com/cd/iko

Hi there ya'll,my brother and I have a record label called Revion Records .

We just released our very first project and artist -Iko and the album title is -on the peripheral.

It's an instrumental hip hop album ,which means no vocals, that holds its own with Petestrumentals and then some.

The album is available internationally on cd baby or you can just go to the link to sample some tracks.

It sells for 15 dollars on cdbaby and you can get it locally from us for R100.

If you are interested you can just PM your number and I'll give you a call and  find a way to get it to you.

We'd appreciate your support.

Peace

Geek Section / can rage be fair
« on: September 15, 2005, 11:16:14 AM »
just for starters i'm not defending rage and i don't work for them....but i used to review cds for jhb live and the way it works it that you get cds from record companies,so you don't really get to source out the cds you choose to review...they come to you, so you can't spend your own money buying cds so that you can review them..

Maria and them are doing an good job ,and you find that you get a lot of the not so popular stuff and often whack cds 'cause the record companies are tryin to get them out there..

as for them being objective...hell yeah...they're proffesionals and being objective goes with the job...  8) just keep an open mind and besides ...reviewing cds is not exactly the greatest job in the world ...it hard to find the words when all you wanna say is, this cd is whack :!:

i commemorate Biko day each year...here's a snippet from" I write what I like"

"being black is not a matter of pigmentation-being black is a reflection of mental attitude.

merely by describing yourself as black you have started on a road towards emancipation, you have committed yourself to fight against all forces that seek to use your blackness as a stamp that marks you out as a subservient being.

from the above observation therefore,we can see that the term black is not necessarily all-inclusive;ie.the fact that we are all not white does not mean that we are all [/i]black.non-whites do exist and will continue to exist and will continue to exist for quite a long time.

If one's aspiration is whiteness but his pigmentation makes attainment of this impossible, then that person is a non-white"

Good looking out on the Pac thing Maddstone, yep i'm back in cyberville...solved my computer woes.

Pac was great but he's like a whole lota people who "died before their time",i was watching a Jimi Hendricks doci the other day...isn't it ironic that people like Tupac and them are so talented and yet so troubled but have such disregard for their own lives, its as if they know their own greatness and they can't handle it...its just a damn shame...

i reckon you're blessed if you stick around to enjoy the fruits of your labour, like Mandela... long live Pac's memory i suppose :?

Christopher Reeves should stay...for the sake of political incorrectness...
he's crossed over anyway....he probably thinks its somewhat funny... :) personally i think it's in bad taste...which i happen to like...if it makes even one person uncomfortable, all the more reason for it to stay... :)

Politics / Re: ZUMA CASE
« on: August 18, 2005, 08:18:51 PM »
Stone the Dave:

One thing thats bugging me is the COSATU move. They (only God know what power they reckon they have to give such an insistence) .

Mach:

COSATU stands for Congress of South African Unions, their power is in their members...if all cosatu members were to go on strike, this country would  come to a stand still...no kidding, their membership is their strength.

Stone the Dave:

I reckon COSATU has seen it that the chances Zuma will win are quite low thus this move of theirs. A call by such leader is a disgrace to our young democracy.

Mach:

Zuma has a great chance of being the next president, he's the ANC's number 2 and the anc is part of a triparty aliance of which COSATU is a crucial part in terms of bringing in the numbers...COSATU can a**ert itself  and Zuma can be president...depending on the outcome of the case...it's more than likely that Zuma is the next president...

Stone the Dave:

unless if there is even a bigger plot than what meets the eye.

Mach:

THERE'S ALWAYS A BIGGER PICTURE THAN MEETS THE EYE,come on now, this is politics...

Stone the Dave:

This is a disgrace to our continent.

Mach:

the disgrace to the continent is when people are still starving in 2005,when 11 years down the democracy road, the wealth of the country is still in the hands of the few...the disgrace is as  africans ... we own very little of our own motherland...

and that's just the beginning...talk about disgrace...it's down right embarrasing, the victory over apartheid was more than just sharing toilets with white people...[/i]

General Discussion / CDT...
« on: August 18, 2005, 07:53:43 PM »
CDT is the most popular place to print your cds but not the only one, they'd print the actual disk , which includes the cover...they'd basically give you a finished product...they're quite big and work with major labels but they'll do small jobs as well

if i'm not mistaken they start at 500 copies...don't have their number at hand but you can contact RISA(recording industry of south africa) they have a website you can check out...

i'm helping a friend who's trying to release an album,i'm just learning as I go along... 8)  all the best...peace

talking about rappers in movies, just saw a movie called "CRASH" which has Ludacris in it,i don't know if he's acted before but he is brilliant in this one,i even forgot for a minute that he was Luda the MC.it's a definite for any Luda fan...the only hussle is that in south africa it is shown as an art film, which means you can see it at the ster-nouveau theatres...which means a lot of people won't get to see it ...

and there's another film being promoted ,i've seen posters, its premiers this friday...name slips me ...it has Nelly making his acting debut,i know Chris Rock and Adam Sandler are in the film as well...

maybe we should do a top 10 best  MC actors and their films,i can't even come up with 10 but here it goes:

1.Snoop Dogg-Training Day
2.Ludacris-Crash
3.Ice Cube-XXX3
4.LL Cool J-Any given sunday
5.X-Zbit -XXX3
6.Mos Def-Brown Suga

Media / Fade to Black
« on: August 15, 2005, 06:11:48 PM »
i watched this DVD over the weekend and it was awesome,i don't know when it came out but a friend told me about it ,so now i'm spreading the word.

it costs less than a price of  a hip hop cd,i think around R 170 at musica.

its about the process Jayzee went through to get beats for his black album and his Madison square garden sold out concert.Timberland, Pharrel and Kanye west are there, and my favourite scene is when Slick Rick put on his medalion bling on Pretty Toney before he performed at the concert.R Kelly,Beyonce',Mary J,Foxy Brown,Missy ,Twista are some of the perfomers who shared the stage with Jigga.

I'm not a Jigga fan but i've got much respect for him from watching the DVD...how he doesnt write his rhymes ,he keeps them in his head...he has such a phenomenal memory ....much impressed ,i could see why Beyonce' fell for him

i also gained an understanding of the whole album creation process, its an interesting DVD,a genuine value for money...it has common,Qtip ...just about everyone who counts in hip hop...they honoured him with an awesome send off...
