Politics / Save Tookie
« on: November 23, 2005, 02:56:51 PM »
The US judicial System done shitted on another black man.
This time its Stanley "Tookie" Williams co-founder of the infamous Crips (yes the same one Snoop always sings about).

He is scheduled for execution on Dec 13th for crimes he apparently did not commit according to the evidence presented by the state.

Go to http://www.savetookie.org & sign the petition for Governor Terminator I men Schwarzenegger to grant him clemency (save him from being executed).

Politics / Conspiracy Theory
« on: November 07, 2005, 06:42:34 AM »
So there I was watching Crash over the weekend & Ludacris breaks into a monologue on the origins of Hip Hop.

He agrues that hip hop was crated by the FBI (?) to keep the minority black american community speaking bad english & perpetuating the ignorant stereotypical values in the community.. :?

Is it possible?..As far fetched as this Cons Theory may seem at first on based on the facts & empirical evidence (Syn to define) it certainly sees plausible..

While I dont think the FBI is totally behind the emergance of Hip Hop I do agree that it respreflects the materialistic moral decay prevalent in American society & in so doing perpetuates the vicious cycle.

What do we do to break the cycle?

Shoot G-Unit, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, etc for start! :x

General Discussion / Importance of listening to Ol Skool
« on: November 07, 2005, 12:12:06 AM »
A lot of youth dem no understand de importance of digging in the crates..

I mean how a 19 year old orn in 1986 gon appreciate the reference when 2Pac says
"I came thru the door, sed it before.." without hearing the original bars as spit by the lyrics GOD Rakim.
There is a reason why rappers reference old skoo poineers in their popular songs out currently. Some would call it bitting but often it is paying homage to the pioneers.

How can we understand where this Hip Hop is at now kif we don't know where it came from?

How are we to appreciate where it is headed if we don't know where it came from?

I used to do host a radio show & often young'ns would rock up to the studio on some "awwww dats wheck mhen why you dedicate a whole hour to dis old skool stuff its out of style!"
Eish I'm like WHAT THE f***?! How can it be out of style if cats is still referencing it to this day!?! In fact a lot of the present styles are derived from "Ol Skool"..

RESPECT THE OLD SKOOL LAATIES! :x

With that sed props to the DJ on 5fm the Essence this evening for spinning the early 90's stuff. Need more of that on commercial radio.
Props also to Kamza for having them sample recognition give aways..just needs to say who the original artists are..but anyway respect the architect! :!:
