On the real though,
I think we were (South Africans), might have been, possibly, so psyched by the precepts of the freedom charter and so excited to have a constitition that is as progressive as ours; that, what I fear, has not been clearly articulated are the conditions of this contract - we all have the freedom of expression, but what, what, what's the fine print? REALLY.
Decapitated limbs, bombs and all kinds of horrific symptoms of the current human condition, but what makes it okay for the News to report it and what makes it wrong for artists to adress this?
Then again this saga with the press and govt. I think that Freedom of expression as a right in this country is under serious threat and since this right is vital for a healthy democracy - I'm afraid that development, though progressive, may in the not-so-distant future be retarded.
Aaah man media tangent - dont get me started on the imblance that plagues this beautiful country of ours. (i stopped myself.)
