Oh Diddy, really? C'mon son, look at your track record with Badboy artists.

Looks like Jay Electronica signing to Roc Nation has effected his relationship with Diddy. Diddy tweeted earlier today, "D*mn it hurts in a whole other way when someone you felt mean really felt was your Friend, Betrays you. It hurts when Breathe." It is public knowledge that Diddy has courted Jay Electronica for Bad Boy Records, but never was able to lure him in. They have some recording history, with the track "The Ghost Of Christopher Wallace." Looks like Jay Z's roster is bolstered while Diddy is left just shaking his head in disbelief. (The Source)

Rumors claim Jay chose Young Hov over Puff due to creative expression reasons.

There is a song with Jay-Z and Jay Electronica called "Shiney Suit Theory." I wonder what that means?! From what I understand, Jay-E said he went with Jay and notDiddy for his creative freedom. (All Hip Hop)

Following the announcement, hip-hop personality Miss Info asked Jay Elect about siding with Hov over Diddy.

Diddy has been mentoring and courting Jay for over a year, in the hopes of signing him as well. Electronica insists he values everything Puff contributed and hopes to have him involved in his career, but said "Jay-Z made me an offer I couldn't refuse. And I have the freedom I need too." "I'm working with Kanye. He reached out to me like, 'Yo, you at the studio?,'" Premier said in an interview. "He came by at 8 p.m. and didn't leave until three in the morning. We were drinking Grey Goose and just bugging out. It was me, Kanye and Showbiz, from Showbiz & AG talking about the whole industry...He told me how he wanted this album to be really boom-bap, hard, hard beats. He said, 'No electro Preem, I swear no electro [Laughs].' Ye is still that crazy dude he's always been. He's really focused on making this album raw. So I gave him a banger and he said he wanted two more on top of that one. I'm giving him two more this week." (VIBE)

Movie Talk / Americans remake Death at a Funeral
« on: January 05, 2010, 11:58:28 AM »
WTF? So soon. I saw the British version and it's cla**ic.

And why the hell is Chris Rock writing this of all people with his bad track record in writing movies. I don't think the all-star cast will help this movie either. Looks like it's gonna be the usual toilet, ghetto humour that we've seen many times b4. Peep the trailor.

Hot Traxxx / Top 10 Producers Of The Decade by Billboard
« on: January 03, 2010, 08:54:42 PM »
1 THE NEPTUNES
2 TIMBALAND
3 KANYE WEST
4 SCOTT STORCH
5 WILL.I.AM
6 JONATHAN “LIL JON” SMITH
7 STARGATE
8 BRYAN-MICHAEL COX
9 JERMAINE DUPRI
10 DR. LUKE

Most of the decade-end music tallies in this special online section represent aggregated sales or radio airplay (audience impressions or total plays) for each artist and title from the weekly charts on which they appeared from the start of the 2000 chart year (Dec. 4, 1999 charts) though the end of the 2009 chart year (Nov. 28, 2009 charts).

The sales totals are based on data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, with radio airplay measured by Nielsen BDS.

Some people in other online posts were bitchin' that Dr Dre is not on there, but looking at the criteria I can understand why he's not on there.

I would have thought Timbaland would be number one, but I think the Neptunes took it due their volume of work across different genres of music which ended up on the charts, especially from the early to the mid 2000's.

What y'all think?

General Discussion / Tiger Woods' Endorsement Deals Are Toast
« on: December 10, 2009, 12:17:08 PM »
Shit, now this may start f***ing with his deep pockets.

Tiger Woods has not been seen in a TV ad since Nov. 29, according to Bloomberg. The not-surprising news indicates that Woods’ deals with endorsers are in a state of disarray, with advertisers unable to capitalize on them.

And it’s a strong indicator that Woods will have extreme difficulty replacing them as clients, as the number of “mistresses” linked to him rose to 11. The harem includes such advertising-unfriendly characters as pron star Joslyn James, a restaurant waitress who likes rough sex in parking lots, and a woman who arranges affairs for the golfer, according to Deadspin.

Previously, Woods could have expected to take the Michael Phelps route. After the swimmer was photographed smoking a bong, he returned to the advertising scene about eight months later.

All of that is now in jeopardy.

Ad Age suggests — in an article with the unfortunate headline “Why Tiger Is Still the Best Gillette Can Get” — that advertisers will use the scandal as leverage against him, lowering the prices they pay him and squeezing him for contract givebacks. David Schwab, VP-managing director of Octagon’s celebrity acquisition division, is quoted:

“Not only does it affect Tiger, it affects the entire industry. When celebrities do things that negatively affect a corporate deal, the legal terms typically end up more in the corporation’s favor the next time. So if a celebrity is paid $10 as an endorser with no morals clause, the company might come back next time and say ‘We’ll do it for $5 and a morals clause.’”

Morals clauses are standard contract terms that allow advertisers to renege on their deals with celebrities if the stars behave badly and ruin their ad plans — as Tiger has done. Woods will never be able to sign a major deal again without a strict morals clause.

General Discussion / Bongani Fa**ie is on coke and has left Jozi?
« on: November 14, 2009, 12:13:24 PM »
Just saw this in The Star.

If the shit about drugs is true then it's sad because dude is supa talented as a musician. Hope he gets help soon if true  :( :( :(

Brenda Fa**ie's 24-year-old son Bongani is heading down the same road as his mother - living a life of non-stop parties fuelled by booze and drug binges, surrounded by penniless hangers-on.

And his long time sponsor - independent record label Ghetto Ruff - confirmed he has quit the popular three-man hip hop crew Jozi that made him famous.

Fa**ie's lifestyle has been sponsored by Ghetto Ruff for the past few years.

The Greenside house he lives in has a fully fitted recording studio and he drives a BMW - all paid for by Ghetto Ruff boss Lance Stehr
'Whenever I'm there these guys are there asking people for money for drugs'
.

Despite his lavish fully sponsored life, it is believed that Fa**ie, commonly known by his rapper name Bongz, has left his group in a bid to start his own label, Fa**ie Records.

Last week he failed to pitch at the group's album launch, leaving the two remaining members Ishmael "Ish" Morabe and Lesley "Da Les" Mampe to perform at the Latinova club to surprised audiences.

Fa**ie has not performed with Jozi for three months.

Fa**ie has recently made a name for himself as a producer, but it seems he has inherited more than his mother's musical talents.

Fa**ie is now known to hang out with a group who often indulge in drug binges.

And the Saturday Star understands that Fa**ie's house has been dubbed "the drug den" by people who hang out there.

A regular visitor to the house blamed his friends.

"None of them work. They are always there and they do copious amounts of drugs - especially coke. They have no money and they influence him. He pays for all these drugs.

"Whenever I'm there these guys are there asking people for money for drugs. Bongz makes music but these guys are always around the house, feeding off him. And when he wants to have a party, they are there. The problem is with these guys. He has a good heart," he said.

A former colleague of Fa**ie's, who also did not want to be named for fear of reprisal, said he had stopped going to the studio because of the goings-on there.

"There is just too much going on and too many weird people going through the house," he said. "I've never seen them take drugs but by their behaviour it's quite apparent that it is going on," he said.

And a music industry insider told the Saturday Star that she was aware of Fa**ie's recreational drug use. She called the Greenside house the "Ghetto Ruff house" and said all the artists there did drugs together. "They want to live the life of musicians with drugs, sex and bitches," she said.

This week Stehr said he did not believe Fa**ie had a problem. "I don't know anything about the drugs. From my side, there is no evidence of any drug taking.

"He has decided to start Fa**ie records and that is where it is at. He will still be producing songs for Jozi but that's it. We are obviously sad about it. He is setting up his own place and doing Fa**ie Records," said Stehr.

Fa**ie said the allegations were "shallow".

General Discussion / Jackson had 'black' issues
« on: July 04, 2009, 09:05:06 AM »
Inetresting comments from Quincy Jones.

Los Angeles - Quincy Jones claims Michael Jackson "didn't want to be black".

The music producer - who worked with the late pop icon on his iconic Bad, Thriller and Off the Wall albums - does not believe Michael suffered from a disease which caused his skin to lighten, insisting he wanted to alter his appearance.

"I don't believe in any of that bulls**t, no. No. Never. I've been around junkies and stuff all my life. I've heard every excuse. It's like smokers - 'I only smoke when I drink' and all that stuff. But it's bulls**t," Jones said when asked if he believed Michael was suffering from vitiligo.

"You're justifying something that's destructive to your existence. But when somebody's hell-bent on it, you can't stop 'em.

"What his face turned into is ridiculous. Chemical peels and all of it. And I don't understand it. But he obviously didn't want to be black. You see his kids?"

Issues with his looks

Jones added he spoke to Michael - who died of a suspected cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home last week - about his altering appearance, but admits he has no idea why the King of Pop had such issues with his looks.

"He'd come up with, 'Man, I promise you I have this disease,' and so forth, and 'I have a blister on my lungs,' and all that kind of bulls**t. It's hard, because Michael's a Virgo, man - he's very set in his ways. You can't talk him out of it.

"I'm just a musician and a record producer. I'm not a psychiatrist. I don't understand all that stuff. We all got problems."

The producer added he used to worry Michael was out of touch with reality, and wanted him to sing songs about love and human emotion to try to help him.

"I just wanted to hear him deal with a romantic relationship with a human being rather than a rat. I'm saying that facetiously, but it's true. I saw him at the Oscars very emotional about Ben and I wanted to hear him get in touch with a real human relationship," said Jones, referring to the 1972 song Ben which was about Michael's pet rat.

"She's Out of My Life from Off the Wall was written by Tommy Bahler from a very bad ending to a marriage. So it was very real. I was saving it for Sinatra. But I gave it to Michael. And Michael cried during every take, and I left the tears in."

General Discussion / Faith caught Biggie in bed with Lil Kim
« on: August 25, 2008, 04:49:44 PM »
Yo, I didn't know Faith was ghetto like that. Peep this excerpt from her upcoming book.

 :o :o :o :o :o :o ;D

I don’t know what got into my head. But I decided that I needed to know once and for all what Big was really trying to do. On that night before Christmas, I drove to Big’s house on a mission to find out where I really stood.

The security guard at the gate just waved me in when I pulled up. It was Christmas Eve and she’d seen me come into the complex with the kids, so I guess she didn’t think anything of it. I parked in the rear of Big’s town house and walked up to the garage. It was locked. I hadn’t been over to Big’s house a whole lot but I did know that you jiggle the garage door a certain way and unlock it.

I got into the garage, where there was an elevator that would take me to both floors of Big’s duplex. There I was, rocking a black skully cap and a heavy goose-down jacket, tiptoeing into the elevator and pressing the button to go up to the second floor, where his bedroom was located. I got to Big’s bedroom door, turned the knob, and went inside. As soon as I saw a small lump next to Big’s large frame, I flew into a rage, ran over to the side of the bed, and pulled back the covers. I grabbed some chick our of the bed and started beating her a**. At some point, the chick’s wig came off in my hand; It was a short, cropped wig. I stopped throwing punches for a minute to get a good look at the chick I was beating up. It was Lil Kim. She was completely butt-naked, yelling as I pushed her around the room.

“So you not f***ing her, right?” I screamed at Big. “Yeah, you not messing with her anymore, right?”

When they heard all the commotion, Cease, D-Roc, and Gutter came running into the room. ‘Oh shit!” they yelled in unison. “It’s Faye! How the hell she get in here?”

Big sat up in bed and pointed at Kim, who was standing in a corner of the room, trying to cover her naked body with her hands while I was still yelling at Big. “Yo, get her outta here,’ Big said. They led Kim out of the room and she screamed and cursed the whole way.

It was absolutely crazy in that house. Kim was naked and being led somewhere to get dressed. I was still screaming on Big. Damion, Cease, and Gutter were laughing in amazement that I would be so bold. And Big looked like he was just too through with all of us. He sat up in bed shaking his head. Kim left the house and I stayed, talking to Big about why he couldn’t be honest with me about her.

‘I thought it was all about Tiffany?” I asked. You still messing with Kim, too?” Big had nothing to say.

I have to say I actually felt some pity for Kim. Big had a wife, and she settled for messing with him. Then he started dating Tiffany and Big had a wife and a mistress. And Kim still settled for being other other woman. It seemed pretty sad to settle for that.

When I left a few hours later to get the kids, I noticed that Kim had taken my key to my Land Cruiser and scratched up my entire car, from the hood to the back bumper. Even though we ended up having sex that day, at that point I decided I was 100 percent through. I was not going to be a ride or die chick, always going to lengths to show Big how I felt. I was the mother of his child and his wife. But I was going to have to let go.
