General Discussion / Your Thoughts...

What drives racial dating preferences?

I was reading some forum a while back and there was a discussion on interracial dating and some female member stated the following which I found really puzzling:

"I briefly dated a black guy in university, mostly to see if the erm... rumours about them are true (yes, THOSE rumours :P). He was from the US, and came to SA. Sadly I did not find out if the rumours were true or not :(. I don't have a problem admitting I'm prejudiced about certain things, and I would have been unlikely to date him, were he not from the States.

As far as black south africans go, well that’s a different story. They are only now being allowed to educate themselves, which is really a shame, but it still affects how I perceive them in a general sense, want it to or not. Do I feel I'm 'superior' as a result? Hmm, not necessarily, I just don't feel the majority of them have anything to offer me at present, and do not see why I should lower my own expectations/standards for a partner, just to be 'politically correct'.

I don't believe in forcing people to conform to my idea of how I think they ideally 'should' be, so I'm unlikely to have enough in common with a black man in South Africa to take him as a partner.”

Can the above statement still be considered as a racial dating preference? I’ve met a couple of white guys who also state the same thing when it comes to interracial dating. They say they are more open to dating African Americans than black South African females.
This just doesn’t make sense to me, maybe someone here can help me understand their way of thinking.

General Discussion / First South African Rapper??!
« on: June 25, 2010, 08:15:34 AM »
So my old lady is giving her vinyls to my cousin, don't know what the dude is going to do with them( that's his business). Anyway I decided to go through most of them with her and bumped into one by Senyaka titled African Rap.

So who's the originator of rap in South Africa?

I'm asking the fellow agians this question because I wasn't into S.A rap that much until a few years ago...

General Discussion / Mingers in my Complex
« on: October 25, 2008, 09:21:30 AM »
Just a couple of days ago 6 broads moved into the complex I live in, these girls brought chaos to the place, even to the point that some white folks are set to leave this month end or next.
Endless drinking and loud music was all we heard day in and day out, security doesn't do anything about this, I'm sure they're trying to get a nut in("sera sa mosotho ke tlala"). A friend of mine told me they look dodgy,(surprising coming from him) coz he shags anything that moves
Yesterday I got a full glimpse of two out of the six ladies and my stomach started turning.

I had never seen such a sight on this side of Jo'burg(Morningside). They straight up look like 2 dollar hoes out of a bad low budget adult movie, i hope I don't throw up when I see all six together. I just wish they don't bring their clients here and turn this place into a brothel like area you find in Santiago, I would personally arrange directions to Corlett drive and find them a place in Illovo to rent just to get them outta here. why I can't they just keep it civil like the exotic Russian dancer who lives upstairs(would like to get a nut in but she has a husband and a 9 year old kid).

2010 is also coming up and I'm not sure what the ruling was by the Constitutional Court regarding prostitution but all I know is there's bound to be a whole lot of escorts flying in from all countries(already booked Lil' Wayne's baby mama in advance for a full 4 hour session including a ma**age).
Don't know what you guys think should be done regarding this situation but I would really appreciate your views on it.

General Discussion / RESPECT MY SWAG
« on: August 07, 2008, 08:14:06 PM »
The word "Swag" gets thrown around a lot these days. For some the word swag holds a lot of power, for some it means nothing.

We all have attributes which make us unique even if we aren’t able to pinpoint them ourselves.
This is to show that your style is “one of a kind” and you don’t care what the stereotypical public thinks about it.

-My swag is silent but deadly, I’m a corporate gangster coz I pack heat in the boardroom.
-It’s too good to be true, straight out the hood but highly educated.
-My swag is too rich for most people but it’s something they can’t live without.
-It’s all about focus, not looking at the haters but past them.
-No words can describe it, you just feel it and you know what it is.
-You do you…my swag is priceless.

So tell us what your swagger is like, what makes you..you???
