You got that Get funky track in mp3 format?

Nah, but there's a way you can transform youtube songs and video into mp3 format, though.

I'm not a geek man. Can you please hook a brother up.

I'm starting to think the woman's fam bases the asking price on their a**essment of the other dude. Now I hear that some dude just paid R80k.WTF??? R80k. I guess the woman's family heard that the dude is paid and saw his expensive cars. But it's tricky coz if you show that you are paid, they'll charge and arm and a leg. If you act like them conscious cats and play it on the humble, they'll say their daughter aint marrying a broke dude "how will he afford to look after you and the kids" so they either discourage the entire thing or worse, they put a high tag, thinking they are scaring you. Damn, men dont win either way.

Don't get why he had to commit suicide.

Niccas do worse on a daily basis, getting 2,3 different women pregnant at the same time while their with 'the one'.

How many people's dads have secret children conceived after marriage? Random half brothers and sisters you meet years later?

*shrug* yall better be strong out here...

Real talk. Imagine knowing you have a sister and a brother a few days before your dad's funeral. And the dad was such a respected person in the community. Always there for his fam and a strong community leader. Only to find that he fathered some out of wedlock. uhmm...would you rather have that happening or the absentee father you see once in a blue moon. Or the the one you respect til he pa**es on and then learn about his other kids?

On the real though, I'm never killing myself for a broad. Broads done played me once or twice before as some Agians know. A broad you would do anything for and was just getting ready to wife and then...boom she f***s up. Me, i dont kill myself. Coz I know there is more fish in the sea. And a life to live. A mission to fulfill.

Thiis cat I met in bloem paid lobola for his girlfriend, i think it was R15k. the girl then gets pregnant by another dude. girlfriend insists of keeping the baby. dude then killed himself.

now, how dude got hooked up the cash. he borrowed money from two different people. He told the first one that he needs money to open up another hair salon which they will jointly own, i dont know what he told the second one. first one gave him R10000 the other one paid R5000 i guess. both these people were his other girlfriends.

I was told the story of his pa**ing and why he committed suicide all at once. imagine being sad at first hearing that someone you know died then at the end when being told how he died you find yourself bursting out with laughter.

That girl ended up going for abortion and also went to the dudes funeral.

Even soapie writers would never come up with such a script.

But yeah, i know a dude who paid lobola and the girl cheated and the girl's family still doesn't want to pay the lobola money back. That's quite mean.

I see you don't watch Generations.

on the real though. this is a true story. this one of close friend of a family friend there. if anyone here is from Bloem, Rocklands, Child actually would probably know this cat because  he lives close to where his hair salon was. theres a garage there with shops next to it, i think the supermarket there is a Spar if im correct. His hair salon was on the first floor.

Aight man, I was not saying your story is made up. It's just unusual. But the dude was clevor. You know some dude I know lobola'd with credit. This was a while ago, i think he paid about R19 000 with his credit card. Dude could have organised a sugar mama and borrow some cash from her.

Whichever race or nationality I marry, my dad is not exempting anyone from paying lobola, I know that much.

Isn't the money used for the wedding?
Or do people still buy room dividers and dining room suites?

Also, doesn't the money vary according to whether the woman has children, is educated, has a good reputation etc, or is it all std now?

;D ;D ;D At people coping room dividers. I'm sure there still some serious plotters out there who plan their house extension money with the lobola loot.

Yeah, it's supposed to vary but it's hard to say by how much because things like reputation (a good one) are hard to quantify. I mean you would not be marrying her if she had a bad rep, I a**ume. But what used to count I hear is the standing of your fam - if they were educated, / educators or business people or high up in the church, this would raise the stakes. But these days none of that seems to counts. SA middle cla** and lower middle cla** families are sort of the same these days. Even the education thing is hard to quantify. Now, a girl with a post matric qualification (say a 3 yr degree) is generally regarded as amongst the most educated in SA (if only 5% of SA have that 3 yr degree). Does it go up for someone with honours/masters? Is there a difference between a doctor and someone with a Masters in Engineering or Economics? Basically these peeps went to school for the same number of years as the doc, so does that make a difference?

I never got the point about education - it's like the dude is being asked to pay the folks back for what they spent educating her. What if the dude is even more educated.

Pay up or marry your cousin. I'm not free.
My uncle has been married for like 19 years and that ish is still hanging over his marriage.
The wife's family hasn't quite forgotten whatever small amount remains.

Is this not always a problem when you pay errthing. The wife reminds you when you argue that "you havent even finished lobola-ring me" That thing wont sound good in Zulu or Xhosa or Tswana or Sotho, etc...

I got a bill of 25K

in 2003.

A cow that cost 5k 7 years ago cost about 8-9K now.

65K sounds about right!

Now who would be prepared to pay R65k for lobola?

Of course we not talking the guys paying R15 000 for a shot of whisky but regular dudes earning regular salaries and a bit more (anywhere between R180k to 600k a year).
That's just greed from the makoti's folks.

Too many weddings this weekend. Too many weddings these  years. I’m at an age where some of my cats in stable relationships are tying the knot. Anyway, I’ve been wondering what the going rate is for Lobola. Some dude I know paid R65 grand recently. Now that’s just daylight robbery if you ask me. Four years ago another dude paid R18 000. It cant be that lobola inflation has gone up by so much.  Now I aint paying so much for lobola even if the girl in question is Khanyi Mbau. Anyone got the lowdown.

MTN hardly gives dividends in recent years. they've been funding their acquisitions in Africa and the middle East. Maybe this will change since they have no serious targets these days since the Bharti deal collapsed. I'll definately buy these shares.

I just cant use the same strategy with every girl. it would never work. The forward house music types get approached in a certain way. the foward hop hoppish types, in their own way. The whites esp during varsity days had their own techniques. The rasta soul sista types, I just offer a blunt and say something that Biko or Bilal said. etc etc etc.

But what do braods in such places talk about with a dude who is obvioulsy macking them? But I agree that money corrupts the mind. I'm lucky to be where I am but if I get to where I'm going I'm not spending R15000 on a shot.
