Hmmm.. where i'm from i would say cats are indifferent to it..most of the cats who rap in english have the most sub-par productions with them not to say they cannot do it...but the beats  :evil:

I mean basically for me it has to do with level of cormfatbility but at the same time realise what you sacrficing...WIDER AUDIENCE either way the sh1t done in native language(Sheng: a mix of english and swahili) form around my way has the better emcee's. Either way i bump to stuff i do not understand one example of recent is Daara j<<<cannot understand a lick of of french but i love the sound another dude is Das primero< cannot understand but the vibe is nice...

The most mypic post i have ever seen

* This post is aimed at those so-called underground US hip-hop artists, those leftovers from the "Rawkus Era", and those over here, who were influenced by them.

Five reasons why those underground artists suck:
1. Limited content (i.e. too much time spent dissing the mainstream or fictitious wack MCs)

lol ... exhibit of myopia 1...although some them do come out bitter ....turn this around you get the hater chants from..you know where

2. Derivative production (i.e. "I'm going for that Primo, Pete Rock, 1992 Native Tongues sound, and then I'm going to diss all clone rappers over that shit.")

Blatant lie....if anything they have much more diverse sound...what you get from def jux is totally different for what you get from doom to duckdown affliates,to rhyme sayers and to justus league to DMP....to masta ace..to blacklicious ...to...madlib....compare this to mainstream when only few producers mantain a strangle hold...very few breakout producers

3. Lack of song-writing ability (i.e. they can kick it in a cypher, but are all up a gumtree when they have to put out songs)

agree...to a certain point

4. Preaching to the choir (i.e. yeah, they're enlightened, yeah, they're progressive, but they only make music for those who share their ideas - so much for reaching out)

shoot they make music FOR ANYBODY WITH DAMN BRAIN...yours is slanted view...you should be suprised or rather give dap this cats do not follow the same trend six million topics to rhyme about why should everyone do ONE . Another thing stop contradicting yourself LOOK at NO.1..if they doing all this progressive talk where do they get time to bother about other emcee's

Before you flame me, I realise that not all underground artists embody all of the above characteristics (with exceptions: I see you Dilated Peoples, Lootpack), but too many of them have one or a combination of these, and it's this that makes underground hip-hop so wack. They do exactly what they accuse mainstream cats of doing: talking loud, saying nothing.

I think an underground scene is important for the development of hip-hop. But it's stagnated majorly. It's time for them to show and prove.

p.s. I'm fan of good music not all these labels we are pescribed to..but anyone with their faculties right knows where diversity exists and where MOST of the formulaic cookie cutter sh1t is. and not all underground is good either some of it is plain lame

and how can you put down emcees influenced by rawkus era? when majority of the population is influenced by -I-GOT-MO-MONEY-f*** -MORE HOES-THAN-YOU type cats?

all of you wanting that coherent, simple and clear rhymes? what bullish is that! most artists are coherent and you can understand them, anyway an artist who rhymes like everyone else and his stuff is simple and easy to listen to, i feel that, that artist is boring coz he aint teaching you nothing, he is not reaching any new boundaries. also whoever was talking about one liners should also realise that zubz and proverb always use one liners, especially pro, he is always on some "i'm like a..." tip all the time and one liners are boring these days. I feel that when you make your one liners in to a creative few bars and your ish is more drawn put coz you work at your ish, you will release a doper product. D planet talking bout you'l listen to less ish rhiming bout metaphysics fck that you might actually learn more from that than from 14 semi-ok tracks. see its cats like you who stunt hip hop because you dnt want to reach new boundaries. for real if you keep it simple keep it simple ut dnt be on some i'm a hectic lyricist afterwards. y'all go and listento your britney spears for you one liners!!!!!
