Well he was in a lose-lose situation. The election cannot possibly be free or fair in the current situation, and many people would not come out to vote simply out of fear. And even if they did, the election would probably be rigged and mugabe would win anyway. If this happened then Bob would claim he is the rightful president. We all know this is not the will of the people.
If tsvangirai runs...and somehow it is not rigged (odds abt 10000000000:1) and he wins..mugabe would not give up the presidency and send out the army, sending the country into deeper crisis and possibly civil war.

He had no choice really...i only hope this is the final straw before the african and international community step in and stabilize the situation. Its embarra**ing. And the african leaders should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to go on.
