Long story short,my desktops been threatening to die for the past 4 months or so. I kept telling myself i would sort things out but never got Around to fixing it. It eventually gave in at 18:43 (official time of death R.I.P) Last night.

This is the problem, all my production soft, and beats are on the desktop, which was running xp. I have a laptop that i have been using strictly for business purposes that i think is powerfull enough to run production apps. The problem is, its running on vista.

Can anyone tell me wether migrating my setup to a vista setup on my laptop is a good or bad idea?? Thing is i really dont have the dough to cop another desktop right now, and frankly i just dont want to. I have heard a lot of complaints about how vista struggles to keep up with prod. apps but can anyone verify this??

for those that follow smack dvd now and then, i think most of us will agree that serious jones got bodied by murda mook. It was close, but mook murked him.
Now...the battle between jae millz and murda mook was even tighter, who do you think won this one??

Contrary to what a couple of people may have thought...(post "hip hop is dead"era), 2007 was an amazing year for hip hop. If dudes really had their ears open there was a wealth of fresh hip hop albums that came out last year.

Anyway, this is one of the ones that really stood out for me.

Dont know if this is true but, it sure is funny!

TO ALL MEN CONSIDERING MARRIAGE AS AN OPTION (& WOMEN DYING TO GET
MARRIED):

If you are already married, it's too late. You have already been ripped
off; from 1ST July 2007 women should be affordable to ordinary man on
the street. Every man can afford to have a wife.

Here's proof:

a**uming a life expectancy of 75 years and that a woman's ideal age of
marriage is 25 years; a woman is expected to live for 50 years after the
date of marriage?

Some financial implications:   Lobola is usually R20 000?

Meaning for 50 yrs period of marriage a man pays R20 000.

Now let's look at the short term as proposed by government Lobola
Regulatory Body (LRB) and endorsed by the Congress of Traditional
Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA).

If 50 yrs is R20 000.00, then 10 yrs = R4000
1 yr = R400
1/2 yr = R200
1 month = R34
1 week = R8.50
1 day = R1.20 cents

Heyi Madoda! Only R8.50 a week!!! ...One can even afford more than one
wife!

Then WHY PAY THE WHOLE AMOUNT UPFRONT WHEN YOU CAN PAY AS YOU GO...

And imagine how much you can save in case of divorce!

N.B. Please note that this is not the opinion of the sender, but a
government's initiative to curb unnecessary rip-offs of clients under
the New Credit Act.

Media / Radio Play

So you want to be playlisted??? This is what Dj Fresh says you have to do...

How to get your song on the radio

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'How to get your songs on the radio' with DJ Fresh (Big Dawg Productions) and Mister O (Yarona FM, Botswana)
Radio has changed over the years. The function of the radio DJ as a promoter of a certain musical genre or style from a personal perspective has shifted to accommodate the new operating methods of the commercial radio station. Commercial radio DJs today are not granted the same freedom they used to have when it comes to making musical selections for their own shows. The Playlist governs the airwaves. A Playlist is a selection of contemporary or popular music based on the target market of a given radio station, also taking into account the nature of the station in terms of the genres it promotes. This may sound like the traditional role of any station but the difference is most apparent. The Playlist forms part of the new age PC based setup of any commercial DJ booth. It is a set list that cannot be changed without the prior consent of the station music committee, the group who decides what goes on and off the list. This committee doesn’t necessarily contain any DJs even though they are the ones who ultimately promote the music and the station.

The truth is that the competitive nature of mainstream media today means that all conventional outlets from the print to the airwaves are battling for public space and recognition. This is achieved in the traditional fashion, by buying prime media “space”, and those with the most get the most. In order to gain capital for this end Radio stations have to attract sponsors in the form of advertisers. These advertisers want to know that their money is being well spent and is reaching the most people. The radio station ensures this by catering to the widest listener-ship possible, the ma** market, through Playlisting popular music. So the music is no longer being selected by an individual with specifically defined tastes and a personality that attracts listeners. That is the DJ of yesterday. The DJ of our time is more of a rep for the station with a personality that sells and is geared more towards branding then authenticating the airwaves.

Radio Stations are looking for hits when they put together their Playlists. Given what we now know about the way the radio is structured we also know that a hit doesn’t necessarily mean the best music. A hit is a song that sells itself well to the music committee. It has to show them its potential to attract and sustain listeners. Before it even gets the chance to prove itself it has to pa** through the committee and understanding the process of this pa**age is the key to getting your track Playlisted.

Researching the various radio stations to find the one most suited to your music is vital. First find the stations that exclusively play your genre instead of wasting time blanket marketing it to any and all stations. Smaller stations (like campus music stations) can be more flexible with their listings because they are not trying to attract advertisers to survive. Getting your song onto a smaller station with an existing audience can go a long way to creating some underground hype around your music and this is the sort of hype that larger stations respond to when looking for what is happening in the various trends and scenes.

Some basic facts to remember when trying to push your song to a station:

Your song should be available commercially - radio stations DO NOT air demo recordings unless they have a specific demo orientated show or slot on an existing show; Help the station help you - music managers and DJs DO NOT have the time to edit songs and would rather play a song that falls within the standards set by the popular music they most commonly playlist; The station takes you as seriously as you take yourself - DJs and Stations DO NOT have the time to listen to ALL of the tracks they are sent or given to consider so the presentation of the pusher and the package itself goes a long way to getting it “listed
