i do it myself sometime & find it ridiculous.lol @ myself.
but its kinda difficult when you have that "bravado" built in as the tenth element of the culture.
i mean - it was all built on battling ...

INDIAN TATA BUYS LAND ROVER AND JAGUAR FROM FORD

(AGI) - Mumbai, Mar. 25 - The Indian automobile group Tata Motors has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford for 2.65 billion dollars. The Indian television network NDTV reported this, quoting anonymous sources. According to the network the deal will be announced today, while a Tata spokesman reported that negotiations are still in progress. Ford has been dealing with Tata, market leader in India, since January. The Tata group has been given green light by the trade unions. According to the Financial Times, Ford will open a pension fund for employees of Jaguar and Land Rover.

curious: i never really could figure this out.
why release a mixtape @ all.
fine - if you release a mixtape & give it away - shouldnt it first be geared towards the radio stations.

second - if you hand it out on the streets - what makes it different from a writeable cd of international music?

shouldnt a mixtape be supported by a solid string of gigs to promote it?besides just a launch?myspace campaign/facebook campaign / steady print campaign etc?

if you are really going to put all that marketing effort into it cash?why not just release a full album?
if the outlay on units is the same - i mean - if the money is soming out of your pocket why release a mixtape if its gonna cost you about the same to do a mixtape ( a' la pioneer unit)
see- that was more of a compliation full album.
