Media / G-unit dissin Dr Dre
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:36:52 AM »
I think one of the things thats very obvious with Dre is the way he puts things together takes time to perfect.... He's one critical producer who wont release anything thats half a**... when he did the chronic and doggy style he did like 35 - 50 tracks for both albums and picked the best 15. I do think he's a hard worker, based on the fact that even if some of the beatmakers come through with material, he's able to a**ess it re-vamp it, arrage it and sometimes he goes as far as mixing the record... the responsibilties he carries and like DP said goes as far as executively producing it take up much more time... when i say he puts out a record, he follows it up from step 1 right through 10 meaning the quality of the recording to the mastered product to the promotions and marketing... also being able to design an album takes time, meaning do the records go together and make a good end product, even with hot records, you gotta find a way it all flows together. The G Unit cats are taking it too far by publicising their beefs,... these cats were nothing without eminem and dre..... its because of his work and where dre is and even the a**ociation gave them great album sales, so cats like Banks need to show respect. These are my thoughts, no beef.

I personally think Touch is doing his part in exposing local talent, being a radio personality on a commercial radio station is not so easy, been there before, there's also station politics that you gotta adhere to. For the must part most cats have a general good feeling about the show, thats important... every DJ's got his favorites, i've yet to see a DJ who dont. ANother thing not a lotta cats can be connected to The international market like he has, this is all hiphop, on the other hand we need to play side by side with international markets be competative. Many of us are closed to even hiphop across the border. We need to hear it for what is. But at the same time DO YOU and be proud of what we do. One thing you cant fault is when cats overseas support something they stick to it. eg, crank music.... anyways dont wanna go there,... just my thoughts.

General Discussion / HYPE LOOKING FOR NEW EDITOR
« on: May 30, 2006, 05:31:59 PM »
Reduce your fees = more advertising, HYPE doesnt not reach the client base that of a FHM or even SL, HYPE targets a market that barely buys local CD's..... how many record labels advertise in HYPE 0.0001% exactly my point, something should tell us something. Every mag i know has been built on respect, further more if statistics show there's no value in your returns, why should pursue advertising in HYPE. Source, XXL, all started small and built their shit up.

look at it this way R25000.00 / R44.00 ppd thats 568 units.... most hiphop acts are averaging 3000 - 6000 units some even less... only a few have touched 10k.

General Discussion / HYPE LOOKING FOR NEW EDITOR
« on: May 30, 2006, 08:37:02 AM »
Somebody tell HYPE that R25000 for AD is ridiculous, thats one of the other things they should address, independent labels even majors should not pay that much for mag that still is very new in the industry.

on the other hand getting a new editor was the best decision they should have made a long time ago.

Gallo run a series of 3 ads back to back, and they told me it had no effect on their sales, they subsequently stopped advertising. THAT should say something.

how about R5000.00 an ad sounds resonable. anywways i'm bugging.
