General Discussion / Is Internet killin hip hop
« on: May 10, 2007, 11:06:04 AM »
Heres whats crazy, 1500 retail music stores closed down in the US alone in 2006. Record sales are down to moving 100k a week on your first week of music sales. The fact is in 4-5 years Retail will be DEAD! bootlegging is definately killing hiphop, the pie is getting smaller you gonna see more and more people beefing in hiphop cause cats is starving. CD's are gonna be around only in the African continent. If you look at some artists in the states, they have to source 3rd party marketing budgets cause the labels aren't forking out the same budgets. I see a shift in the way folks is gonna get paid, cause record sales are not gonna cut it anymore.

Battle One on One / Is Snazz D the illest MC in africa???
« on: May 09, 2007, 12:42:33 PM »
You know, the way you singled me out like that seems like you were disrespecting me. Anways i'm not gonna dwell on that.

Here's the thing Cashless was an entity of emcees and producers who were all individuals trying to do their own thing, we decided to bond together to use this as a platform for all of us to elevate from. Cashless was formed in 1998, thats been almost 10 years now. Here's the thing we all grow and change and our goals also change. You ask yourself if you were in that same frame of mind 10 years ago and you will see what i mean. Along with all that we did have conflicts in the group, most the time i kept the group for splitting up untill it just got too much. Now there are other personal details i wont talk about that caused Cashless to deteriorate. in any case i'm cool with just about all the guys, i still work with Snazz and have recorded some new joints with him. Snazz is still the dope Emcee we all know.

General Discussion / How You Rate the Greatest of all time??
« on: March 27, 2007, 08:47:15 AM »
Cash i like your list, but to be fair its hard to group together and rate, solo artists and groups.

did anyone read Kool Mo Dee's book "The God on the Mic"(50 Greatest Emcees), he breaks it down and rates each emcee by, lyrical ability, stage presence, freestyle, longevity,  musical content, social awareness and adds each category up to give the emcee a final score.
