General Discussion / SA public hates hip hop?
« on: May 22, 2007, 03:34:55 PM »
BlaqDust is kinda right.

I guess another reason why the public ain't down with hiphop is because it's been stereotyped as a negative thing. I mean, they always hear about busting gats, tapping women and blazin weed all the time. Too muh negativity around it. There is much more to hiphop than that. Your average head knows that.

What i suggest people should work on is their content. In order for people to appreciate hiphop and actually take interest towards it is if we all stop singing about the same thing over and over. Just once, someone should try and be different. Bring something which no one has experienced yet. Then maybe, JUST maybe, the public will learn to appreciate and not hate.

I'm not acting like i'm a pro or anything, just speaking from the viewpoint of a hiphop "consumer".

But yo, that's just my thoughts...

I think that it's not that hiphop is not loved by the public.

Ever since i got to Cap City i've noticed many people actuall support hiphop gigs and are actuall WILLING TO PAY to watch certain emcees to perform. The major issue for the reason of sales is because, well, hiphop music is specifically aimed towards the youth, who are now into fancy gadgets and stuff, who will then pirate the cd from the one person who buys it. So therefore if one person buys an album for R80, about 20 other people (or more) get it for free from that same dude. In the States albums are doing much better simply because of the populace count and price of albums. USA has about 5 times more people than South Africa, and albums there cost around $10. So that is equivolent to about R60, but i would prefer hearing an album costs 10 dollars rather than 60 bucks. There are many people who love hiphop, it's just that they do not want to buy it. They would prefer getting the songs for free, because if every person in South Africa had that original copy of "X's" album, "X" would most probably have sold over 100 000.

All that is needed is that formula, that will convince people to actually buy "X's" album, because at the rate technology improves, the music industry is on its way to becoming extinct. Let's just put oour fingers together and pray y'all.

You can get my album for free though. Right here. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ju4fn8

But yo, that's just my thoughts... 8O

Nyambo, hope your car is fixed. Gotta meet man. You know where to find me, and i know where to find you. Hooray.
