hate to say it but i'm with dplanet on this one.it's common knowledge that people that 'support local hiphop' don't actualy buy albums - especially heads. it's not an uncommon thing for an audience to be lacking at hiphop shows as well - and that goes for unsigned/unknown cats as well as the established artists. so if we wna c our hiphop cats at the shows lets get them there. they're not gonna get there if we're gonna bootleg their albums and not pitch at their shows.
anyway, who else is on the supporting lineup?

i've had this nyambo beat in my head the whole week.
its on the AQ & Thir[13]teen album - the track is called" Trouble in the Water" - PTA heads or those with the album will know what i'm talkin about.
a favourite for me is the beat on the track called "Come Again" - Fifi and Syntax. I was recently told its a Nyambz beat, too nice.Fifi is one talented person.

w'sup Nthabi, hope u enjoyed the Backpackers launch last week and got yourself a copy too.
back to the topic:
tru it's the mc's we debatin about but what if the platform itself is not all that exciting anymore?don't get me wrong - i like listening in because u neva know wat tight dude's gna 'come thru' (hahahahaha - must've heard that 100 times last nyt).as for the show, u always know wats gna happen next.there isn't much variety to the show - guys know they're gna introduce themselves then they're gna get some ABC stuff then they'r gna tell a story, then they'r gna battle - it's been like that for months.how's about we get some shockers?i mean that alone is the reason a lot of peeps don't listen.a little change neva hurt anyone.
as for the game plan - explicit's got a good point.wat good is it if u go on the show, win for the month then go back to the streets?sure you've got ur five seconds of fame but thats about it - five seconds.next month there's a new guy(or girl) in town.

true dat...lotsa peeps think they're hot cos they've been in a cipher or two. i'd agree that only people with street cred should go on the show but
1)some people get street cred they don't deserve
2)street cred is biased - if u come from a particular hood/crew that has enough convincing power ur bound to get heard whether ppl wanna hear u or not and finally...
3)not evrybody that's tight has been doing their thing on the streets and might be a total unknown thus being automatically marginalised
(i'm of the opinion that the streets are not the only place for an emcee to start doing his thing.if u can write some good ish and can kill it in the studio then ur jis as tight as the dude who kills peeps on the corner, jis in different respects - however u can't go onto rap activity jam with scripts).
i'm for the idea that all should be given a chance to shine.
maybe auditions shud be held that are similar to the actual show where peeps are tested prior to being allowed on air - like a week ahead so that there's no chance of wack rhymers coming thru. ishu wit dat is only those holdin the auditions would have the deciding vote and that could be a biased one as well and a lot of tight peeps might not make it thru.

It's a bit late coz i cudn get the info i needed earlier bout uploadin pics but hey...at least its here...hope u peeps can come thru.peace
jus incase it duzn, the gig starts at 6:30 tonight.
first 300 people get a free mixtape.if u hav a backpack on you, you'll also get a mixtape.
It's R10 for entry - if u gna park underground at the venue it's another R10 for the night.
after party at the state theatre, the price for entering the gig includes entry to the after party.
Performers: Reason, S.O.S, Tang, The Anvills, Hakeem, Motipa, Forbidden Thoughts, etc.
This is all going down at the state theatre, corner Pretorius & Prinsloo streets, PTA central.

Hip Hop Events / lastnights' show (1632 Exclusive Evening)

yup, we had a blast. if you missed it you missed out. PTA's got some crazy love.bigups to all the people that came to watch the show and thanks to Roach Inc, Blacklisted Media and the State Theatre for the hookup.
for all those that don't know any of the acts on the lineup for lastnight's show, it's only a matter of time.
check out the hiphop show at the youth centre in Thokoza tomorrow - don't know who's performing but i heard about it and i'll be there to check it out. starts at around twelve. Reason's gonna be the host for the show.
There's one in Pimville tomorrow as well by the library (I think).
as SOS would say it, its for the Sake of Skill.
