« on: October 29, 2009, 09:01:59 AM »
Even if this is a publicity stunt, its far more exciting then half the shit being released lately... All i hear when i switch on the radio is the same old generic music and when things like this pop off it makes for sum interesting discussion

Thought the track would be longer but i guess it was only done to show L tido that he is serious... I doubt that L tido will be able to release groundbreaking material but if they can pull of a D.O.AKA then that would be worth a listen...

I know there is a bunch of people saying that this is only hurting S.A hip hop but if the facebook groups and wall posts are anything to go by, the streets are loving this and its getting more ppl to listen to the local scene.

Drake be the biggest thing in HIP POP rite now, and he rightfully deserves it coz he be giving the ladies what they wanna hear (that slow beats and easy to understand rhyme schemes with the singing), i say let him do hes thing and stop tryna compare him to HIP HOP artists coz now yall sounding all ignorant like kanye up in here...

Ive personally listened to So Far Gone and only 2 tracks stand out for me... The whole mood of it was to laid back and it just sounded like 808 and heartbreaks with all the singing..

Its a shame all this egotistical comments and self praising remarks aint helping south african hip hops current situation. Ive seen so many ppl flap there gums on the corners but when provided the chance fall flat on their mouths. I respect both AKA and Blaklez coz to me there sound is at a level thats ready for export, and even though some may disagree we need such artists in order for our country to be recognised on an international scale.

Ive been rocking that Octave Couplet track since sunday, has a wonderful vibe to it...

@Trompie, bra that beat is to simple... Just sounds like a bunch of chops put 2gether with no real structure (im no expert but thats my opinion)

All in all, its the same old hype (note to self* get myself an interview asap)

True, I get your point...the powers that be at Hype should put up S.A artists more in the spotlight and give other 'African Hip Hop' acts their space...if you feel underrepresented, then you can only imagine what the rest of Africa feels! We get the magazine, and know what goes on over there, what is the use of exporting? Why have a inward industry...lets build/collab and spread it across the continent and diaspora...otherwise its worth a try, I know the buyers want Luda! but why not empower local acts by showing that they are just as glamarous and talented!

Truth be told that if hype expands to other african countries the less South Africans will care bout it... There is still alot to be done for us to accept our own hip hop artists b4 we can even think of the rest of the continent... But that doesnt mean that we cant do a few collabs here and there
