it all depends on things like which perspective u looking at it from,independent(not underground) or mainstream,as much as there are a bunch of really terrible/wack independent artists artists out there,still u will find really gut independent artist,but it takes an effort to find their music,e,g onebelo,blackmilk,j rawls etc,from the mainstream perspective,well i,ll say its dead,one example is interscope,compare the artists signed to the same label 10 years ago to ones signed by the same label right now...there is much of a difference,any gimmick can have a deal nowadays,but the positive things is mainstream artist as bad as they might be are making more money than before.Labels used to have good a&rs,but i dont think major labels still got them,if they are there they are not doing their jobs properly,as much as artists used to glorify drug dealing and all the stuff,the way they use to say it is what makes a difference,compare it to now there is much of a difference,plus most of their stuff now lack honesty,everybody is a super human being nowadays.
