it all depends on things like which perspective u looking at it from,independent(not underground) or mainstream,as much as there are a bunch of really terrible/wack independent artists artists out there,still u will find really gut independent artist,but it takes an effort to find their music,e,g onebelo,blackmilk,j rawls etc,from the mainstream perspective,well i,ll say its dead,one example is interscope,compare the artists signed to the same label 10 years ago to ones signed by the same label right now...there is much of a difference,any gimmick can have a deal nowadays,but the positive things is mainstream artist as bad as they might be are making more money than before.Labels used to have good a&rs,but i dont think major labels still got them,if they are there they are not doing their jobs properly,as much as artists used to glorify drug dealing and all the stuff,the way they use to say it is what makes a difference,compare it to now there is much of a difference,plus most of their stuff now lack honesty,everybody is a super human being nowadays.

going to the issue of the doctors advocate being one of the tightest albums for 2006...hell no...if you say one of the biggest selling albums for 2006-hell yeah...and overhyped too...if we judge it not focusing on the number of copies sold i will say its trash...sorry...i dont like g-unit but lloyd banks album,s was even better....for 2006 one kid who really came up with something good was lupe fiasco...overall 2006 wasnt a good year for hiphop,there wasnt a whole quality material released to be honest.....bout the south african industry i wont comment coz am no longer based in SA so i dont know that much bout stuff which out last year coz most of the stuff came out after i left.....hopefully 2007 will be a good year for hiphop,why

-none shall pa**-aesop rock-not sure bout the date
-not sure bout the album name-ghorst face and mf doom
-not sure bout the album name-lupe fiasco
-built for cuban links 2-raekwon-no release date yet

onebelo-not really provocative,he released one of the tightest albums for 2005,one of the most slept on projects.
qwel-what should he do to be really apreciated-qwel and maker,the harvest,beautiful album,qwel and meaty ogre-freeze burner..he is bin one of the most consistent emcs out there.
lupe fiasco-dude managed to release a descent album.
vordul-refined mc now,as compared to when cold vein was released,starting to outshine vast...thats my opinion anyway
cool calm pete(from babbletron)-as 2005 wasnt a relatively good year for definitive jux(thats my opinion anyway),lost was one of the best album for the jukies that time,
