Interesting fact I picked up from last sundays paper........Nigeria could be the hardest African to get visit. You need:

1. A VISA
2.Interview to evaluate the motive of your entry.
3.AN INVITATION LETTER FROM A NIGERIAN RESIDENT/BUSSINESS too

Meanwhile them niggas are all over the world....ruining our rep ;D (waits for the insults)

What is the relevance of this post?

How does it affect the current situation in this country positively?

I think the ANC is working real hard to give the people of this country a better life yes there is corruption in local municipalities hence slow service delivery  the committees are working on that.

Slow delivery is as good as no delivery. We are looking for relief for the many, and not for the few. Its been 16 years, how many more years do they need to get their act right?

Why not then run governmental departments like private enterprises? With full transparency, monthly target evaluations and overhauling if necessary of entire departments if there is little to no productivity.

We talk like government is faced with major tasks to bring relief to those who really need it, when it is clear that their most difficult task is managing funds and ensuring delivery of the services they promise to deliver during every election.

This country has achieved more in the past four years (thanks to the world cup) than they have achieved in the entire 16 years of democracy we have had. This says we have the capability to deliver when necessary, but clearly the needs of the inhabitants of this country are not priority enough to be addressed with similar urgency.

We need to understand black-on-black violence to uproot it
13 July 2010
Andile Mngxitama

SINGAMA kwerekwere sonke (we are all foreigners), cries an anti-afrophobia leaflet issued by the September National Imbizo.
This move tries to end the distance between South Africans and their black brothers and sisters from the African continent who are the victims of black-on-black violence the media incorrectly calls xenophobia.
We are certainly not a xenophobic country, because we don’t hate and hurt all foreigners. Only black people from the African continent are targeted.
Whites are tourists and investors. There are no white kwerekweres.
The 2008 afrophobia attacks left 62 black people dead, thousands fled the country and a lot of properties destroyed. What is often forgotten is that 22 of those killed were black South Africans.
Black South Africans need to know that we are part of Africa, that the borders were created by colonialists who came to plunder our continent and to oppress us all.
The threats of afrophobia after the World Cup are so huge that black Africans from outside South Africa are already victimised.
The psychological violence through the threats is as harmful as the actual attacks. We must applaud South Africans who are doing their best to end afrophobia. One of the unsung heroes and symbols of unity is the late Sipho Madondo from Alexandra.
When the 2008 violence broke out he chose to defend black Africans and he was killed for his stance.
Afrophobia must be condemned and combated.
But we need to understand it in order to uproot it completely.
How do we understand a people that say “we are behind Ghana” and then turn around and say “they must go after the Cup”.
A person who is trapped in poverty and marginalisation is already a violent person. Black Consciousness Movement co-founder Steve Biko saw the black-on-black violence as a creation of “absolute want, in which black will kill black to be able to survive”.
This is the basis of vandalism, murder, rape and plunder that goes on.
Afrophobia in South Africa is an outcome of the failure to address the pressing needs of the people.
People who are treated like animals soon behave as animals.
Homelessness, hunger, joblessness combined with inflation lead to violence. Without hope people explode, but because of psychological damage they vent their anger at the most vulnerable among them – women, children and so- called foreigners.
The way the government has been t reating black Africans has shaped and triggered afrophobia.
The allegations of corrupt allocation of RDP houses, the hara**ment by the police and neglect by Home Affairs send a message to communities that black Africans are not protected and are objects of hate.
What does it mean when people are arrested not because they have committed a crime but because they are black and have no papers that say they can be here?
This situation condones the afrophobic violence. It says black is illegal.
To end afrophobia we must address both the material and psychological wants of our people. We are all kwerekweres.

There is no saying this right...so bear with me.

That article is pointless as a deterent or think before you act message provider.

As widespread and trans-"education" as the Xenophobe can be the bulk are those
impacted daily and probably don't give a shit about "social armchair commentary"
it on the ground.

"Ayeye...amZenofobhiya ayabaleka eKapa"

SAD indeed...what wil an article like the one in the Sowetan do.if the guy
does not know or deem it nessesary to find out what a Xenophobe is what does African Rennaise mean?

Its f***ed that what I say!

Good read. But how do you undo years of mental conditioning in such a short period of time? And even more importantly, how do you even try to adress the situation in the middle of a potentially explosive and volatile situation that is threatening to unfold.

Why werent corrective measures taken immediately after the initial attacks? When the calm had been restored? When tensions had subsided and people were beyond a stage of irrationality and were prepared to listen and be educated.

I cant help but see another disaster unfolding, because once again, our government has failed to do their homework.

Hope this doesnt happen at all.....that being said some of the peeps do some weird isht to bulldoze local bussinessmen, I know it doesnt happen everywhere but this was the scenario ko dladleng:

1. a group of Pakistani shop owners created a "local bussiness commitee" whose membership was 100% foreign (Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Somali etc). Now these dudes somehow convinced the city council that they are a proper representation of the towns bussiness community. Meaning that they have authority to suggest and have input in the City's economic policies.

2. ANYone business-aspirant who wants to open a shop is subject to the comittees' approval plus there are sites where new shops are not allowed. They claimed they were doing this to prevent congestion.

3.One of the community radio station did a reseach and found there were about 155 shops in the townships....about 53 were South african owned.

4.The "retailers comittee" blocked plenty of people, mostly SA citizens from getting licenses to operate.

5.Some shop owners rented very small places and on most occa**ion they sleep in the same area were their products (mostly  food ) are stored....these niggas were taking baths and wiping their a**es when less than a metre way theres tomatoes etc....

Now given a situation like the one above, it is hard to expect SA locals in my area not to want them out.....Im not justifying Xenophobia....just giving you something I witnessed. I think government and local city councills are to blame for all tghis..........

FIFA did this on a far lager scale how about they attack white people first???

WHITE PEOPLE HAVE DONE THIS TO US FOR CENTURIES?? and you come and say you understand!!

I hear you, but dont deviate from the point.
What some of these foreign business people have done is extremely unethical. Not only have they prevented locals from rightfully starting their own business enterprises, that could possibly have had a positive spinoff for the community as a whole, they have sidelined the entire community by doing so, and by trying to have a monopoly on all business within certain areas.

Mind you, some of which are being run illegally as well.
Now, before i get labelled for being racist, all i am saying is that a lot of the anger within certain communities can be justified. The manner in which they express this anger is completely wrong though.
