General Discussion / Ballot or the bullet
« on: February 04, 2009, 12:57:29 PM »
Yo wa**up Ag peops.

After speaking to a few people about the elections coming up soon, I've realised that they hype that we hoped would reach a feverish pitch is no where to be seen. At best the die hard political ma**es from 1994 are still to be found gathered in town halls having meetings that are not looking toward the next election, but fuelled by anger and complaints at the current situation.

And according to surveys the youth of South Africa have not taken many notes from the USA youth. Registrations stats reveal that a large percentage of the youth have not registered yet.

My question is this...

For the people who have decided that they will not be voting for the next South African elections, do you have concrete reasons for doing so?

On the last episode of the Headwarmaz...  ;D

This week we were discussing another painful topic in hip hop, and that was the Generation gap in SA hip hop. Severe criticism about the loss of essence that our hip hop has suffered has been handed to the younger hip hop practitioners by the older generation of hip hop activists. We had heated discussion about the different phenomena that come with the alleged "death of the golden age". attached are some of the discussions and calls from the show......

Arizona police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the capture and arrest of DMX.

A Phoenix judge issued a bench warrant for the rapper's arrest after he did not appear in court Friday (Dec. 5) morning, marking the second time he has failed to do so.

X is facing charges of drug possession, identity theft and animal cruelty. After his failure to appear in court, Judge Michael Kemp also raised DMX's bond to $120,000 cash.

According to his attorney, Charles Kolzelka, X is at an undisclosed rehab facility.

AG Wire / Re: Katt Williams Hospitalized, Psychiatric Evaluation Ordered
« on: November 20, 2008, 02:39:20 PM »
i just received this...

Following an arduous 300 shows and an 18-month touring schedule that left him incredibly fatigued, Katt felt compelled to be with his family in an effort to deal with his stress. While doing so, he is under a doctor’s care.

As this is a private and personal matter, we hope the media will respect his family’s request for privacy.

I'm on a Katt Williams Support Campaign. All we need is an influx of letters of support to his management staff. I've contacted local and all facets of entertainment to chip in. Jay Leno, Conan, The View ladies, KTLA, Big Boy, MoJo in the Morning, Ben's Chili Bowl in D.C. (Katt visit's them when he was there - check the latest DVD), and countless radio personnel.

HELP!!

Thank you!!

AG Wire / Jadakiss Bows To Pressure To Change Album Name
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:36:15 PM »
Jadakiss has been forced to change the name of his upcoming album Kiss My a** after the title received negative feedback from retailers.

The Lox star has now bowed to industry pressure and the LP will now be called The Last Kiss.

He says, "I had to change the name of my album. Kiss My a** wasn’t testing well at retail. Not even with the exclamations or none of that. So we had to switch it to The Last Kiss."
But the MC insists the title isn’t hinting at his retirement - it’s just the end of an era.

He adds, "Some people asked me is it my last album. Nah, it’s just ... the first album was Kiss The Game Goodbye ; the second one was The Kiss of Death, so this one was The Last Kiss. It’s the closing of a trilogy. It’s the last time I’m going to name one of my albums ; it’s the last time ’Kiss’ is going to be in the album titles. This is why this is The Last Kiss."

AG Wire / Eminem new album Relapse
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:34:02 PM »
The announcement was made on Eminem’s satellite radio station, Shade 45, during the on-air "release party" for his new book, The Way I Am. "There are a lot of fake album titles floating out there – a lot of bullshit titles," he said. "The real title of my album that’s coming out is ... Relapse." He also played a cut from the album, called I ’m Having a Relapse. "Guess who’s back ?" it begins, with Slim Shady’s familiar vim.
Over the last few months, the project was rumored to have been titled both King Mathers and Empack. Also at the soiree were 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, L-L Cool J and The Alchemist.
Relapse will be the rapper’s first release since 2005’s not-so-aptly named greatest hits compilation, Curtain Call. Eminem’s last original album was Encore, in 2004.

AG Wire / DJ Premier & Ludacris Collaboration "M.V.P." Released
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:26:00 PM »
November 17th, 2008 | Author: ------

With the recent release of the the song "M.V.P." off Ludacris’ soon-to-be-released album Theater of the Mind, the Grammy Award-winning rapper and actor claims to be the first Southern rapper to work with DJ Premier.

Luda' opens up with “When Premier put the needle on the record I put it on blast.” He goes on to elaborate with raps, “first southern rapper on a Premo beat."

The Houston-born but New York-bred producer has worked previously with Scarface, on "Betrayal," which was featured on Gangstarr's Moment of Truth album. Premier also produced the title track off Scarface's upcoming Emeritus album. Additionally, Premier supplied the beat for fellow Texan Devin the Dude on the track "Doobie Ashtray." Premier has also worked with Cee-Lo on "Evening News," which can be found on Cee-Lo Green is the Soul Machine. Jermaine Dupri  and Premo collaborated on the track "Protectors of the 1472," from JD's Life in 1472 album. The legendary producer has also featured Bun B  of UGK and Arrested Development on his beats as well, yet the nod is significant.

The Gangstarr co-founder producer gives a unique blend of percussion and samples, to compliment Ludacris' rhymes. The song will be part of Ludacris’ album, Theatre of the Mind, that is scheduled to be released November 24.

Reported by Benjamin Chesna.
