Producers - Discussion / INSPIRATION: Numb3rs & Alphab3ts
« on: August 13, 2009, 09:54:44 PM »
PEACE!

Pheew! *takes deep breath*.......................here it goes:

INSPIRATION is ALIAS & SAN, the instru-monumentalist. Having worked together for almost 3 years now, the duo have through time found a complementary style in their work(s), something that helps bring out from their partnership a unique flavour of beatmaking and production. last year 2008 INSPIRATION dropped their debut album as a production outfit and entitled it "PIECES OF OUR BROKEN MIND"...the album was an instant hit, garnering the two man team accolades as far & wide as Chicago, Greece, Botswana, South Africa & Lesotho just to name a few parts in the world...the album itself went on to propel and spur on a firmer desire to share what the duo where working on and affiliated with, hence the culmination of other projects that have continued to make their mark on the music world (i.e) Re-INVENTION (the movement)

long story short, NUMB3RS & ALPHAB3TS is not just another beat tape from a collaboration between producers, its much more deeply rooted. the album aims to narrate key events in history through instrumentation, it provides if you will a soundtrack to the times, music that is based on certain happenings that have proven to define who we are as people, colours and creeds...

to give an example, one of the songs on the album talks about "Micheal Ventris"....now Micheal Ventris as some should know was the genius who cracked the CODE to LINEAR B ;)...let me elaborate:

language is ancient, from the times of hieroglyphics to the times of pictographs (what they all have in common however is that they were not written/drawn in a linear way, not like you and i today write in "between the lines"  ;)

from the pharaohs' hieroglyphs to the time when ancient greeks first wrote in a LINEAR style, sumin that to this day is still being used.
for the slow learners in cla** today:

Micheal Ventris' LINEAR B = ancient Greek form of writing that is still considered to this day as the first linear way of writing!

oh and if you are asking yourself how that is relevant to your life now, then you are not mature enough for this tape  ;D

the album is almost done and will be dropped soon, we are looking to have in total about 18 tracks on it, its going to be a mind trip like never before, GRITTY UNDERGROUND hiphop production plus the lessons from the past that define you and i today...

for your viewing pleasure

Producers - Discussion / San....Droping soundtrack tape to doccie....
« on: July 14, 2009, 07:50:52 PM »
Peace...

with the Grahamstown National arts festival behind us, it is only right that those who were present and shared thier lessons and experiences under the capacity of artist, be it musician, painter, sculptor, designer or any other forms of expression reflect and gain cognizance of what it is they learnt and gained from the cultural festivity...

i for one can a**ertively say i got to connect with a wide array of talented people, artists and enthusiasts alike...long story short, ive been fortunate enough to have been given an opportunity to contribute part of my musical creativity towards the production of a Documentary by internationly renowned Doccie Producer/Director Ms SIHLE HLOPHE...the film is itself complete and the music is only now being created and worked into the different scenes...

this is me just getting the word out and letting the HEADS who do care & check for a brother's work that i am working on that now and will keep you updated as to the goings on...

it is the aim of Audible Braile Entertainment to package the work(s) as a soundtrack that will hopefully drop in conjunction with the Doccie but we still in liason with Brainmattermedia, home of Ms Hlophe...

ive made so far a couple of joints for hte project...for a snippet into the type of music il be making for the film, you can check my REVERBNATION page for a track called "gold nugget music" here:

Tiye Phoenix: Half woman Half amazing (2009)

Babygrande is pleased to announce the signing of Tiye Phoenix, former Rawkus artist and member of the supergroup Polyrhythm Addicts, for her solo debut “Half Woman Half Amazin” due out on May 26th, 2009.

Cla**ically trained in Piano since she was seven years-old, Tiye Phoenix has always been musically, creatively and artistically inclined. In the late 90’s, Tiye was a part of S.O.U.L. Food Symphony, a DC based group that
performed with artists like, Nas, Gill Scot Heron & more. During the “Golden Years” of hip-hop, Tiye was a member of the Rawkus family, collaborating with Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Hi-Tek & many more. Tiye also worked with fellow Rawkus artists DJ Spinna, Shabaam Sahdeeq and Mr. Complex as part of the super group The Polyrhythm Addicts.

Striking a nuanced balance between sensuality and sophistication, Tiye’s womanhood is on full display with this mature offering. Her solo debut “Half Woman Half Amazin’” is an exploration of the duality within… and as a female producer, MC, singer and songwriter in hip-hop, she is uniquely poised to express this phenomenon.

“Tiye Phoenix is the complete package. When it comes to female MC’s she is unrivaled. There are a few other relevant females right now but absolutely none are as refined as Tiye Phoenix. As a musician, songwriter,
performer and as a woman she is the one,” says Chuck Wilson, Babygrande’s CEO.

With production from DJ Scratch, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Da Beatminerz, DJ Spinna, Apathy & more and guest appearances from Phonte (Little Brother), Chip Fu & others, Tiye is ready to take over the game as the dominant female artist in hip-hop.

(ive alread downloaded this, ima share it if no one ups it before me under the UGHH 09 thread ;))

CHALI TUNA: fish outta water

Chali’s diverse tastes range from the blues he was raised on to the political gangsta’ rap he loved, to the graffiti art he sprayed as a teenager and they all flow from this album. A powerful and deeply personal body of work, Fish Outta Water is quite simply a life’s worth of songs in the making. Boasting production from the likes of Jake One, Scott Storch, and Cut Chemist.

"The new album also features collaborations with Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Beenie Man, Anthony Hamilton, and Talib Kweli, the album feels like a new beginning of sorts for the artist who has successfully melded the ba**-heavy bravado with his own life’s story, and in doing so, creates art that’s not only superb, it’s important"....http://streethopmagazine.wordpress.com/

well :'(

its been more than two months since i made a beat or even produced anything..been so focused on other things i even almost lost my way around the sequencer today...you know that whole thing about riding a bike, im afraid its not true for beat making programes, or beat making skill for that matter...

anyhow, i made this today and i just wanted to know what the heads think about it...took me a total of 1 hour 15 mintues, its a rush job by any standards, but i was liking the fact that its the first one ive made in a while...

i put jean grae on it just to give it a bit of flow...Enjoy :)!

un-necessarily Ft jean Grae (Produced by San, the Instru-Monumentalist)

General Discussion / Comedy Central Roast of FLAVA FLAV!
« on: April 23, 2009, 11:39:58 AM »
aight, so the first time i saw one of these comedy central roast things i was like oh, white people cracking jokes about white people and basically not holding back...amusing, but not as funny as it is demeaning...

then i watched the latest Katt Williams stand up where he talks about a show he did in Flava Flav's honour, the whole thing was sponcered by Comedy central, in his stand up, if yuo guys have seen it, he talks about how Flava Flav came down in a harness of some sort from the ceiling (on some Mike Jackson isht back in the day)...and before he landed, Katt William's script read: "whats that, its a bat, its a plane, a monkey, its a...NO, its Flava Flav"

now this is where im trying to go with this:

for the past year or so, we have seen Flava Flav in the most degrading and embarra**ing situations he can ever be, for one, he was in the Flava of love show, (his show) but its now coming to light that he got the show in the first place cos he was being made a stooge of (a hack if you will), simple entertainment for racist white people, him, and his gang of whores (trust me, you will want to see the comedy central roast thing, truth is a bitter pill to swallow)...

if you dont believe me, return to Chris rock's latest stand up, the one he also did in SA, where he Vehemently protests "not now Flav, not now, not in these crucial times, please dont make a fool of your self, where a suit or sumin".. but does he, NO, duke, wears a huge clock, gold fronts and a viking hat, all coupled with a cup the size of a trophy, heck, its a diamond encrusted trophy :-\

still, i didnt fully get the meaning of what all these people were talking about until i saw the COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST OF flava Flav last night...

i fear i might be bordering on heavy ambiguity here so please, if anybody else has seen it, can you help me discuss this and possibly shed some light for those who havent ???...

all in all, i have never seen such a horrendous display of racial slander since i watched "Mississippi burning" and that was a film, not real life..

like NY OIL says, "someone please pull Flava Flav back from that COON a** isht they got him doing"

teh one line that stuck with me the most is one by this Jewish comedian guy whose like

"by the way Chuck D wanted to be here today but the D stands for Dignity, you went from saying f*** the white man to f***ing a white man" :'(

i dont even think Flava Flav even understands what PUBLIC ENEMY stood for anymore, the money and the coke got him so ga**ed, they drafted a script and had Katt Williams call him monkey in this comedy central thing and he laughs and takes it and takes a sip from his trophy sized cup...

my my my, how the mighty have fallen........................................... :(
