Media / Barrack Obama bumps Kanye and Jay on his iPod

Barack Obama bumps Kanye And Jay On The iPodSeptember 29th, 2008 | Author: Danielle Harling

Although some critics have blasted him for hit, Obama is still backing his appreciation of Hip Hop.

"I enjoy it, but these days I don't have the time to listen to it all the time," Obama shared with Sway.

"I'm a little older than Hip Hop culture. I was there at the beginning, but I was already getting older...What I've appreciated, watching this Hip Hop generation, is to see how entrepreneurial they've been. In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously, they did well, but they didn't have the vision to say, 'I'm going to build a business. I'm going to build my own studio. I'm going to create my own production operations.' I think they're a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing."

Some of the Hip-Hop artists in rotation on Senator Obama's iPod include Kanye West and Jay-Z.

Producers - Discussion / Obscure beat sample challenge
« on: September 27, 2008, 03:48:55 PM »
Wa**up producers,

Proposal: One of the mods put up a thread where producers will be challenged to come up with beats sampling out-of-genre loops, things like Celine Dion, Coldplaby, Bjork...or any other outrageous samples.

I'm working on a mixtape that already features samples from music by Coldplay, The pixies, Nickelback... so we need few more ideas.

lemme know what ya'll think

General Discussion / Time at gigs
« on: July 28, 2008, 10:12:12 PM »
 >:(

It's become a norm for people to start gigs later than they advertised. I once waited 3 hours for a performance to start..... (without any dj)

My question is why? We can't expect to be taken seriously if we can't keep to basic principles of business. It can't be normal that i can walk into a hip hop gig, 2 hours late...and still be 1 hour early. >:(

So all promoters????? It's TIME...pull up dose socks.

Media / Lookin for Headwarmaz
« on: June 22, 2008, 07:44:20 PM »
For peops that check out headwarmaz on bush radio 89.5 (or www.bushradio.co.za)

We gotta get a solid new team ready to recommence the show. Looking to start the show on 08/08/08.

This time around we gonna have to be on point with:

Presenting--> Producing (layout and features) of the show and hosting it on Bush Radio
Researchers --> Compiling information, topic ideas, interviewing, covering gigs, archiving
Marketers
online consultants

etc.

NB!!! you won't be getting money for this (not yet anyway). So it's gotta be people who are serious about hip hop. Also if you're gonna be involved in presenting...own transport is essential.

For more details hit up... headwarmaz@gmail.com

Keep rested peoples!!!
