General Discussion / Re: You & Your Religion
« on: December 28, 2008, 03:42:36 PM »
I think there's a judge, heaven and hell. We can't all be going to the same place. What about Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin and the like? The justice system in SA is pretty messed up. People kill in cold blood all the time and don't go to prison. Who do you think is going to give the victims justice?

My nigga Lez, what's good?
But who says we're going anywhere after we die? The whole Biblical concept of Heaven and Hell just doesn't cut it for me; it's just not logical. For instance there's no such thing as an evil animal, animals  react according to their immediate circumstancs and will kill if they feel threatened. I've seen male Lions kill the lion cubs of other males, is that evil? So if it's not, where do animals go when they die?

Violence, murder and whatnot is a part of Human Nature that we try to supress, but it's always there. For example, you come home and you find a nigga raping your Moms, you telling me you ain't gon' merc' that nigga right off the bat? Or you gonna subdue him, call the police and let justice run it's course? What a lot of people seem to misunderstand is that Humans are also animals, albeit extremely smart ones but animals nonetheless.

General Discussion / Re: You & Your Religion
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:18:11 PM »
It's easier to have faith in something out there (and omnipotent and omniscient), than it is to believe that you shape your own destiny and to take responsibility for some of the actions in your life.

I agree..

I think people have to believe in something in order to survive. Whether you believe in a particular religion, or believe religion is a farce. Its all beliefs that dictate how you feel and act in life. It defines how you cope and present yourself in life. Beliefs could be a coping mechanism?

Do you think its possible to go through life without beliefs? People exchange beliefs, all the time, but no one realy stops believing. Beliefs seem to be a coping mechanism?

The worst of it all, is that all we know in life is what we've been told. There are very few things we know for certain. I think that uncertainty fuels your beliefs.

That's the realest shit anybody has said in this whole discussion. The reality is that man created religion as a way to cope with all of the things that occurred in his enviroment that he could not fathom or understand. For example 10-15,000 years ago what did people know about natural phenomena i.e. Tsunami's, earthquakes, volcanoes, meteoric showers, thunder, lightning, Blizzards, floods, shooting stars / comets etc? How could the people of those times explain such things? Of course they couldn't and that must have been daunting, so the natural human reaction was to attribute it to a higher power.

Ask yourself this, why do different people in different parts of the world have different takes on God? People have different takes on God in exactly the same way they different takes on culture and language. It all goes to show you that religion is a man-made beast. If there really was one God (in the Biblical/Islamic/Toranic sense) why doesn't everbody, bar none, believe in that God and more to the point, don't you think that God would have revealed him/herself to all us just to reinforce that belief.

Prime example, the Bible (which by the way was written by man approx 2000 years ago) tell us that God created Man first, ahead of all other animals. But we now know (through scientific advances) that man was at the back of the queue when it comes to life on this planet. The first homonids (Homo Sapiens) only showed up on Earth approx 40,000 years ago and there were in fact two different types of Human species roaming the Earth competing against each other for survival, one of which died out (Neanderthal Man or the European "Caveman") due to the technological advances of the other group which lead to a scarcity of food sources for the Neanderthal. We know all of this from fossil research and the DNA analysis thereof. Before the arrival of Homonids however, there was a whole host of animals roaming the planet, insects for example have been around on this planet for much longer than humans. So then, why is there no mention of these things in The Bible, Qu'ran or the Torah? Simply because at the time those texts were being penned there was little or no knowledge of the Natural World, it's as simple as that. For example Crocodiles have been living on earth 1000 times longer than Humans.

All religious texts reflect the level of knowledge that was availble at the time, for example the people who wrote the Bible didn't even know that the Earth is round, how many planets there are in our Solar System or that the Earth revolves around the Sun. If all these religious texts (Qu'ran, Bible, Torah) really were the "Word Of God" don't you think those important bits of information would have been pa**ed on from "The Creator"?

My argument is that there probably is a Supreme Creator out there but nobody, and I mean nobody on the face of this planet knows what that Creator looks like, or indeed if that creator even has an image.

Religion is man's dual response to living on this planet and understanding very little and having to deal with the fact that one day he will die with very little knowledge. So as a response he creates God and religion and thus ensures himself an "Afterlife", which conveniently eases his conscience.

err...JP Duminy is on 112 not out, his 1st test century in only his 3rd innings as a test player....

test cricket is some unpredictable shit...from 198/7 at stumps yesterday to 390/8 after lunch today....

gotta hand it to the boys

My nigga! my thoughts exactly!! From 198/7 at stumps on day 2 to 459 all out on day 3!!! I done thought I seen it all in Test Cricket, what a huge oversight that was!!! And, by the way, just who the f*** does this JP Duminy kid think he his? Scoring match-winning runs, Fifties and hunneds all over the place  ;D LOL He's got no right to be playing the way he is, in his SECOND Test. Dis nigga done went and got 166, what the f***?  :o Is he deliberately trying to sabotage Ashwell Prince's career or what?  ;D ;D. And don't even get me started on Dale "The Human" Steyn and Paul Harris yo. Harris went to a much-needed 39 and Steyn got 76  :o :o :o Just what kind of Test Series is this, SMH. Amazing stuff, I mean the way this series is going, if Graeme Smith brought Nelson Mandela on to bowl some bouncers, in-swingers and yorkers at the Aussies and he got 8 wickets, I just wouldn't be suprised at all anymore. There's just too many comebacks in this series to be able to tell who's gon' win it. Unbelievable shit.

SMH @ this Test Series, just when you think we got the Aussies, they come back. And just when you think they got us on the ropes we come back. Best Series I've seen since the '05 Ashes.

Ayo, not trying to brag but I done been all around this country, North West, J-sec, Bloem, P.E., E.L.,Cap City etc. but nobody an' I mean nobody gets drunk like Cape Flats niggas. Whites, Coloureds, Blacks, Indians; it's all the same, when it comes to the festive season my niggas is liqoured up for real. Niggas is falling around on the beach nearly getting drowned and shit, 'til they mans gotta come and pick 'em up (I see you Beanie). Jozi niggas prolly come in third in the drinking stakes, behind Mamelodi and Soshanguve niggas (dem niggas would drink Pyro under a table for real).
Right now niggas is arguing with they mans, falling off balconies, getting slapped da f*** out (ever seen a drunk nigga fall? that shit look like it's happening in slow-motion and shit), up-chucking on they mamas cars, pissing on couches, getting run over by Ice-Cream vans, LOL WHAT THE f***??

And there's nothing better than watching a drunk nigga take a beatdown when you're drunk yourself; that shit is funnier than a muhf***er coz drunk niggas seem to have a superhuman pain threshold yo, niggas be getting bitchslapped and shit talkin' 'bout "askies mfethu, hade mfethu". Cape Flats = da drunkest niggas on planet EARTH.

This is just a collection of SA Rappers who I personally think should or need 2 have a breakout year in 2009 due 2 their street-cred, skills, underground following etc.

No 1: -  Maggz. Repping J-Sec. This dude is stupid ill, one of tha nicest MC's if not the nicest in SA. And unlike The L.E.S. has got swagger plus rap skills. Has already established a street-buzz off his Mixtape and feature appearances. This dude is definitely tha illest rapper ever 2 come out of Jozi, period.Needs 2 go mainstream in big way and kiss and make up with his man Pro-kid. Has tha potential 2 be tha best in SA.

No 2:  -  Ondaground. Repping Cap City. One of tha most slept on MC's in SA at the moment. This dude has tha ability 2 do 4 SA Rap what Kanye did in the US. Coming in from left-field (where nobody was watching) and just take over the game. Dude is unconventional and unlike any other rapper out there (like Kanye when he was starting out) plus he's ill on mics and his stage presence and performance is not 2 be f***ed with. I'll be checking 4 dude, coz Cap City needs 2 come with tha heat next year.

No 3:  -  Hoodlum. Repping J-sec. This dude is the premier beatmaker / rapper in SA period. But since the break-up of Hiden Force, I ain't seen much of him in a mainstream sort of way. I hear he's doing his thing behind tha boards for otha up and coming rappers and also heard the buzz behind his anticipated "Junk Food" album. But I'm still waiting 4 tha full-length "Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding". This dude deserves a mainstream spot.

No 4:  -  Seida-Crook.Repping Cape Flats. Is there any evidence that this dude is still alive? Here in J-Sec he's become something of an Urban Legend, never seen anywhere but always popping up 4 guest features and interviews in Hype Mag etc. For a dude who has only 1 track out there ("Unf***withable") he's very well known after guest spots on Landmynz Vol. 2, Beatoven's Vol. 5, Rashid's Album (4got tha name), and word is he's also featured on both Hoodlum's upcoming Albums. Like Maggz has tha potential 2 be the best in SA, coz no-one except maybe Maggz can f*** with this dude when it comes 2 ill-flows. The streets been waiting on u Crook.

No 5:  -  The Anvils. Repping Cap City. These dudes r simply tha illest Rap Group in SA right now, period. Tha punchlines, that real township swagger, tha flows, only maybe Last Days Fam and Morafe can f*** with these dudes. Only problem is they're still underground. Roach Inc needs 2 find a way 2 get these dudes onto tha mainstream, coz there's no doubt they would kill it. Every joint they got out has got Radio potential while still maintaining their credibility in tha streets. Buff needs 2 make a plan 4 these dudes quick coz their killing shows all over tha country - proof that they could make it big next year.

Co-sign, especially on Maggz, the kid is bringing J-Sec back for real coz a lotta J-Sec rappers ain't actually as ill as people say they are, but Maggz da truth yo. Hoodlum gon' be on da re-up next year and my Cap City niggas Dirty Thirty and Austin 25 is unf***withable, what's going on Lez? As for me I might drop suttem in da second half 'a' next year, but right now my focus ain't on Hip-Hop. Ondaground another slept-on rapper too, Cap City with da Cape Flats Connection, Batsile dintsang mfethu? Easy.

i was checking out song of the day (1st page) when i noticed the old-school nasir jones QB chain. got me thinking about the best jewellery i've ever seen in rap vidoes.

1- the nasir QB chain
2- busta's l.o.n.s. chain
3- lloyd banks statue of liberty chain
4- biggie's jesus piece (the original jesus piece)
5- any chain worn by slick rick (they're all dukey)
6- ghostface killah's huge gold eagle arm sleeve
7- busta's new york giants, knicks, jets, yankees chains
8- fifty's g-unit spinner
9- jay-z's roc-a-fella chian
10- fat joe's i-95 chain
