I'd be keen to sumbit a piece! count me in. It gotta be organised tho there's nothing I hate like putting heart into a project and it doesn't materialise! ( I always wanna ask for my versus back)

and then do what with it Pro? lol

and use it for something else of course! why waste a verse I'm very personal about my work.

Producers - Discussion / Re: Industry Standards...
« on: November 14, 2008, 01:32:22 PM »
Nice Topic.

I usually negotiate with producers as I'm guided by the budget I've been allocated by the record company. At the same time I'm not in the habit of exploiting cats that are not established and swing the whole "exposure" angle at em.
The minimum I would pay a young producer is R3000-00. Established cats is where the discussions begin, depending on the beat itself and whether we've identified it as a potential single or not fees start from R5000-00. I'm always the 1st to admit tho if I feel the producer had under quoted me and I agree to up the fee (if it's a real banger)
I'm not really down with paying exorbitant fees purely for the name of the producer (no names mentioned) but the most I've paid for a beat was R15 000-00 and I don't think I'm go do that again. Up-n-coming cats are 1stly more willing to negotiate plus are also more open to ideas and customizing their work to suit the desired intention.

I'm inclined to think all those things came afterwards, I think rap started as a voice for the people and was primarily political in it's initial stages. Then the competitive eleiment came into it. I wanna beleive that's when it started evolving into what it is today. Take Chuck D from public enemy for example, that dude has no flow whatsoever but he still goes down in history as one of the best that did it.
