Politics / Re: The Truth vs Charles Taylor

Thomas Sankara, will most def ask Mr Google of this man. First found out about Charles Taylor during the time when Ellen (not sure of her surname) was involved in the Women of Liberia Ma** Action for Peace then started running for president when the civil war ended. I remember her on a doccie, showing what her country had become after the war and what Charles taylor had done, I remember Charles denying everything and being totally arrogant about it as if nothing or no one could touch him, saying that Ellen was just being a crazy woman and that his people will never vote for her. Then, he had fled to England because of a warrant being out for his arrest for crimes agaist humanity or was it the time he was detained in the US?? I’m not really sure but I remember his wife totally standing up for her husband talking about how he was an outstanding man, saying that, Ellen doesn’t know the Liberian people as she spent her time studying overseas, she was just looking for votes. It was horrible, suwage was on the streets where people lived, buildings were falling over, the coutry was just in ruins, this was back in 2002 or ’03, I do hope that he pays for what he’s done, suffer for the rest of his life in a Zim jail, let him live to be 100 and still be suffering in a Zim jail!

Many years ago I dated this chick from what my mother would call "the wrong side of the tracks" (yes she is very judgmental)  specifically cos my boys and I had argued that serious hoodrats are always trouble and girls from there never got any idea how to act (though on the upside they are often shockingly nasty to make up for it).
I poo-pooed that notion (except for the nasty thing cos they is) and set out to find a diamond in the rough so I could lord it over them later.

Yes Stacey was nasty (in the best way possible) but she was sweet, she made me coffee and sandwiches and the head was MONSTROUS so I was the clear winner till the first time she got proper drunk in front of me at a party....

2 a**ault charges later (one of them on the cop who came to arrest her on the first one), a busted 84cm tv I had to pay for, 6 stiches behind my homey's (now) wife's ear (a**ault charge no1) and a knocked out tooth on another homey (he declined to press charges) I still get shit about it every now and then [11 YEARS LATER]..
but f*** that was the most eventful and (from my point of view at the edges of the fray) hilarious 2 hours of my teens.

SHIT! hahaha!

Been threatened by an unknown woman who clearly knew to. She told me to watch my back, telling me i play women and all that, threatening to stab me(not sure if i imagined this after thinging about the threatening phone  too much). I was puzzled because at that time I had problem getting a girlfriend, even though i had just come out a short relationship but a player I couldnt be, not at that time.

My ex girl friend, while i was dating her, told me this. She said when she is really upset because of someone, she plans murdering them. She imagine how she would do it, plans a detailed way on how she would do it and imagines it happening then after killing that person in her imagination, she gets over being upset with them.  :o  After dumping her, and the drama that was as a result of that I was scared of her for a long time. I kid you not i did fear for my life. shes one of the ex's i keep mentioning here who is a result of some of my current debt. i estimate waisting, around R40k in that four months i dated her.

I have had really crazy girlfriends and my boy really believe I will be killed by a woman one day.

Damn! What did you buy her?

@RR, it was one of those coloured driver taxis right? Sounds like it, I'm not surprised, a couple of people have gotten abducted and raped in those taxis, Cape coloureds don’t play. When I was still using public transport, I steered well away from such taxis if empty or had only males. A friend of mine almost got abducted but got away...twice!!! My ex flatmate got robbed in a taxi from town to rondebosch.

Cos there has never been an instance of a black taxi driver doing anything remotely like this ofcourse.  ??? ??? GTFOH

I have to say that I have never heard about nor seen this happen in black taxi drivers and I'm not sayin it has never happen. I'm just saying that its most frequent in coloured taxis.

Bongani Mangcu was a lyricist. He was also a son, a sibling, somebody's groupmate and somebody's friend. I never knew Bongani Mangcu but through his rhymes I wish I did. I didn't know Bongani Mangcu but I'm jealous of him because I see how his absence has affected the people who did know him, so I know that he mattered to them and I know he was loved.

People say Bangani was a great lyricist, graceful, fluent, inspiring. They say on a good night it almost seemed as though he could touch God with his lyrics and now he can.

What I’ve derived from what is said by all the people that commented on that article is that, companies cannot find competent black people and so they employ whites. You mean to tell me, out of the number of black professionals in each field in this country, companies cannot find one competent black person? Wow!

Life happens.

unless u both are the same people you were years ago, there is no reason why this cant be seen as a "new" thing albeit the people involved are old.

is that possible?

me i say explore, cautiously.

beautiful thing about life is, you dont have to live according to a blue print. you can, but you dont have to.

Living according to a blue print saves you from a lot things, the problem with this is that you often walk on that righteous road alone and it can be very lonely. Then when you want to step out of your blue print, you find yourself lost and not able to adapt which leads to more unhappiness, you just can’t win.
