e.g Dali Thambo

DirK Coetzee(vlaak plaas cop) was a guest on People Of The South talk show, Dali Thambo welcomed/introduced  him as the "honorable a**a**in".

this is a killer.

"..i am cautiosly black!" and the guy says he intended to say that he is 'consciously black', meaning he is aware of the balck people's struggle. i never beleived him to this day.

who said that?
[/quote]

one of my friends who schooled at a multi-racial/predominatly white school, he was subconsciously saying what he really is, a white goon in a black man skin.
by now i think the dude is trying to go back to being black.

i used to attend "sokkies" at their school back in the days, and we would find we just a few bunch of blacks in the party, and to topple it off, we have to run outta town back to the hood soon as the show ends. then, i realised that brainwashing is easy, all of us black kids there used to dance like we had no sense of rhythm, just throwing our hands up and banging heads. it was nice for a while until i realised that this punk is just taking us along to these sokkies as his cronies for the after show protection, yet he claimed to be tight with the white boys like that.

so yes i did get it: HE IS CAUTIOUSLY BLACK!!

thanx for the info ya'll provided...
blacks shall remain blacks, no matter what, check the accents of the british blacks, them maintaining on that language of theirs, have the similar british accent but some conotations differ.

i dunno if australia has nuff blacks to form a large community, and that makes me wonder how their dialect would be or how is it, considering the aussies accents.

brings me back to you Mpoint...do u still maintain your strong sense of pronounciation as for the african u are...or are u now on the ebonics/slang with a twang...?
don't be shy...we won't judge u if u switched to be "civilised".....lol

my thoughts were more along the lines of what those KoL cats is doing, i dig they hustle.

which leads me to this: (hypothesis) if these guys were to put together all those cats they sometimes feature on they events and ensure they rock WC all round, wouldn't that make up for a tour?
i understand the logistics of putting up a show, so touring will require more, considering 1 has to always expect the unexpected, but this is no excuse that a locally produced provincial tour can't be viable.

yo guys b4 i posted this idea, i had it patented: halla black 8) ;) ;)

General Discussion / tours in SA
« on: August 24, 2010, 08:05:00 AM »
with the recently published revenue of established Hip Hop cats on the Forbes Magazine, i thought; how is it that the south african Hip Hop industry seems not to embrace this idea of tours?

we now have platforms that monitors the artists interaction with the fans, yes it is a risky business which sponsors is dragging they feet to embrace, but what is it that makes sponsors be like this?
is it the manner in which we artists potray ourselves, as drunkards?
is it the lack of marketing skills from artists' management?
what is it that can be blamed for this?

if u compare what makes an artist in the U.S and realise that the A&R out there puts and fronts they artists so much they in your face. tours is the bread winner, they start 'em off with college tours, then evolve this to something bigger, headlining for a "Rock the bells" alongside big name acts.
we on the other hand just sit back and hope that we do get a gig someday, and yet HHP never tours around the country, for me(or any unknown act) to think i'll rock alongside him in my hometown.

what does it take to pull off a successful nation wide or provincial tour??

the language has never been wrong(maybe during shakespearin times), the accents/pronounciations  that some peeps use that sometimes is confusing.

My dads accent leaves much to be desired. Sometimes when I have a telephone conversation with him I have to ask the same thing 29 times cause he insists on pronouncing bad, bed and bird the exact same way, so you can imagine everything else. Gotdaym bantu education.

hahahahahaaaaa ... how bird can it get mara....

huh?

yeah Brick...u lost me there

anyhoe...i think we south africans have a distinct accent, which most media exploit when doing these promotions. we emphasize on our conotatives. except for those brats that like the twang in they slang.
most american actors struggle to do this accent, like leonardo in that blood diamond movie...he sounded fake, not south african.
