the way i understand it is like this.
1) mtn put the ringtones out
2) people that like em buy em
3) u buy my product as a ringtone is as good as buying my product as an mp3
4) samro collects all the necessary info on tracks that are selling (which mtn is more than happy to comly with, i mean they are still selling music)
5) samro sees my name and puts the tick
6) i get my percentage as stated on the samro forms for the track
i get paid once the royalty cheques are out
the more the purchases the more the skrilla
