we could name them and you'll find that they haven't sold much either. how many songs have you heard in the past year where cats are doin the whole party thing with Timbo/Scott Storch sounding beats?how many of them joints do you remember? the same dudes who say they are more south african than the rest prefer beats that sound like Dre or Scottie made em.

now here comes the problem wit sa cats. when they try to sound comercially viable they go imitate an international sound. and no matter how you look at it, it will always sound inferior.

the hard part is finding a way to cr8 a sound thats distinct in its flavour and is popular. now you look at the artist that have managed to cross over (im not sayin they rep hiphop) mandoza, HHP and who ever. Dont sound international at all. making a hit is HARD people. copying another formula is easy (but will never yield maximum results)

imitating is not the solution. i believe the hiphop community is the key to discovering what sound could be viable commercially. you look at the SAMA winner this year. now take in the aspect flabba was the most commercially viable (maybe sold the most) artist on the list. couple this with the fact that selling in large quantities is such a huge problem in the country. could one justify his victory based on the fact he managed to achieve something all the other Mcs competing for the award couldn't? (don't get it twisted, i believe that the winner was the worst)

but is local hiphop itself commercially viable?
i believe the brand of hiphop produced here is often "too deep" for it to achieve commercial success. Hiphop headz produce music for hiphop headz then turn around and complain why don't we sell platinum when the music we cr8 is only for  a niche market.

but identifying the problems the game has is easy, find solutions 2 it (which every artist has 2 try find in their unique manor) is the hard part

go grab an maudio man. get asio  2 drivers. if nothing else works err just mute the channel and play the melody,, then quantinize the notes into position. Latency is a biatch, coz 80% of the time u need 2 get a better card. and audigy are far from decent (trust me  i knw)

you got it twisted the wrong way. kats be slaving 9-5, andd instead of goin out and having an awesome time when they off from work. their love and dedication is applied to a form of music which pays very little dividends in terms of respect and money.
