I'd pay more, provided the venue is cool...the black august thing was at the joburg stadium and you wouldn't find me venturing that side of jozi at night,
it might sound a tad snobish ...i don't care whose there...hell no!!!!!

personally the choice of venue is a major consideration  8) ,if you do it at the sandton convention and charge a bit extra i know a lot of people who'd be there...

Hot Traxxx / SCIENZ OF LIFE
« on: August 13, 2005, 03:37:48 PM »
i recently watched  their project overground DVD which is my first exposure to this group of  american underground rappers...not sure about their vibe,we'll see.As an underground crew they have such a substantial following its amazing...while here in Mzansi  rap musicians battle to get gigs.

i was talking to this rap musician and he told me that promoters have a problem where to fit in hip hop acts unless its a hip hop show....for example would they fit them after Mzekezeke before Malaika?local acts don't excite crowds...or so they say...but you have exceptions like HHP...

the scienz of life dvd got me thinking that hip hop crews should get together and organise their own gigs...own venues ...form a strong hip hop network, i know people are already working towards this...keep on keeping on...

General Discussion / AG boring...
« on: August 12, 2005, 12:04:57 AM »
i wouldn't say boring ,more like uninteresting...i knew that things were going south when i posted my syrupy poetry...what's up  wit that :?:  this is a hip hop site ,its true about the regulars being intimidating...i say again...wats up wit dat :?:

and with this thing of always looking back to the "good" ol days of AG...where spacevein,mr c etc used to log on,well those people are still around they just have moved on,so make room for the newbies and give them a chance and for the newbies ...create your own fun...

with that said...peace

here's something...also a bit dated...i call it

CHEMISTRY

i see only you.
the onlyness in you
attracts the onlyness in me

grasping at straws,
pulling ideas from the air
trying to explain the attraction.

being a poet
i would seek the poetic.
the truth is
it's just a chemical thing
that's it.
no poetry,no romance
just chemistry.

here's something i wrote for someone before he became someone and is now an ex-someone

my heart is overwhelmed,
i'm driven to the page
seeking expression:

i have feelings for you,
i don't know what they mean
or if they should mean something.
i know they exist
because i feel them.

i don't know if they would qualify
as love,infactuation
or just chemical attraction.
i know that they have affected
my life,my appetite,my sleep.

I don't know if i should tell you,
confess,come clean.
maybe i should wait a while
perhaps they'll fizzle out.

whatever they are
i know that your the cause
i also know that your the cure.
i have to hang around you
to find the answer.

Hot Traxxx / HipHop is Dead
« on: August 06, 2005, 08:16:45 PM »
i was talking to my brother about how hip hop is changing and how hip hop headz are unhappy with the state of affairs, the way i see it is that hip hop is like water...water is fluid, takes shape of the things around it but it doesn't change its essence...

basically, what i'm saying is that hip hop is fluid,it will change shape but it won't die.Hip hop has its roots in the ancient story telling /poetry tradition and the most modern form of music...electronic music which used to be DJing now people make beats with their computers, it will always adapt and the audience will also change...

point is, because hip hop is adaptable it will not die...i think :?

Hot Traxxx / Foreign Exchange - the perchance meeting
« on: August 06, 2005, 08:05:46 PM »
i just found out about it almost recently,i think its amazing and i'm also liking their music.

i think internet hookups are tricky at best,i'm tempted to tell my own story but i guess i'm not unique in my experience.

for me on internet hookups- its a hung jury...but big up to foreign exchange ...if it weren't for the net ,they wouldn't have happened...

big up to the net 8)

nice one,childkapoet...
i wrote this a while back,its untitled

like moth to light
you are drawn to me
i don't blame you
'cause that's what i do
that's who i am
i am light
i attract moths
and you are one

i am not drawn to you
its not fair,i know
but i am light
and  i watch you
continue to circle
around me in fascination,
admiration and worship

we both know
that it won't get any better
than this with each other
that my heart enjoys
the attention
but only light can touch my innermost
that if you get too close
you'll burn or perish in the attempt

so,i urge you
let this be a pit stop
in your life
go and seek other moths
and let light come to me

Media / July-Aug HYPE?
« on: August 03, 2005, 06:44:36 PM »
Quote from: "Dplanet"
wow,,, this issue of hype is like a gigantic advert for (US label) TVT Records. Not only do their artists occupy the front cover and take up 5 tracks on the CD, but there are at least 12 pages dedicated to them. slight overkill perhaps for a SA hip hop mag?

do we really need another medium for promoting Lil Jon and Snoop?

according to what i've heard, hype is tryna get circulation in the states ,Fungayi is working on a deal with this TVT record label to help him get a foot in the US market...on a kinda you scratch my back I scratch yours ....So he helps to promote them here, and they promote him there...

when I heard about this, the mag wasn't out yet and i haven't seen it,so i think its true even if the facts are a bit sketchy.part of the motivation is that the artists on the compilation will benefit from international exposure.

There's a group on the latest hype compilation called 3rd world riders...they are so whack but they are on there because someone in Fungayi's office promotes them...
the whole hype thing...its just too hyped up ... :?

I shouldn't care anyway coz its really non of my biz and
btw if anyone quotes me on this...i will deny deny deny....

ok, Kallitz and Stevie H...wotz up wit dat 8O  8O  8O , i bought a Kallitz cd, my one and only afrikaans cd...I like "die situasie" track and now that skelm is gone whose gonna do the hooks, that is   if  it was  him who did them on the album, don't really know who's who except for dokter.I'm not really exposed to afrikaans hip hop,me living in joburg and not being an afrikaans speaker but i don't mind it coz at the moment my afrikaans is better than my zulu,it wasn't hard listening to Kallitz apart from the Cape Flats slang...

and you Maddstone!!!!..."big up to Steve Hofmeyr",what's that about   i'm not a fan  at all...i have nothing against afrikaans singers  i know  he has a huge following, which i don't get ...but why do you like him Stone...why oh why... :(
