General Discussion / 2PAC Anniversary 2day!
« on: September 13, 2005, 09:28:50 AM »
So today is the anniversary of the 9th year since 2Pac's pa**ing on this very day.Its hectic to think about it.It doesnt even seem so long ago........but its 9 years already and we still havent seen another like him.

Watching that program of him last nite on SABC 1, it was really something else.I've seen it before in 2002, when it came out, but seeing it again, just brings back the flash backs of this man's brilliance and his undeniable impact in music and pop-culture in general.I mean, he was only 25 when he pa**ed on.How many of us can truly say we've made our impact already, the way he did.I mean, many of us are past that age or almost that age and it still feels like we need to do so much.Seems he lived his life like every day was his last day.If u wake up tomorrow and u look urself in the mirror and u cant say ur satisfied with things as they are, then its time to make a change.I think that was how he went about things, maybe in a more subconscious way.I wouldnt know. But hey.....

The man's music lives on.The T.Shakur Academy is opening soon and his Poetry Album, The Rose that grew from Concrete Vol.2 is dropping next week, I believe. If its anything like the first one, its worth a cop.

Producers - Discussion / Tip: How loud do the Top Producers Mix?
« on: September 06, 2005, 10:48:17 AM »
Something that was sent my way and I thought I'd share it with those who may be interested:

If you're asking yourself "How loud do the top producers mix?", then you're asking the wrong question. Try asking "How soft do they mix?". That's right, you read correctly. Below are some reasons Top Producers mix at lower versus higher levels:

1) Mixing at high volumes for long periods of time can cause permanent ear damage. Yes, it's true...long term exposure to high levels can ruin your ears. If your ears are your a**ets, best treat them right.

2) High mixing volumes for long periods cause your ears to over-compensate for both high end frequencies and low end frequencies. If you only mix at high levels, your ears will run out of gas within a couple hours as opposed to mixing at softer levels which allow you to hear accurately for longer periods of time.

3) Mixing loud may sound great in the beginning, but re-listening to the same mix a day later at soft levels will reveal a myriad of imbalances. However, the opposite is not true! Achieving proper balances at soft levels tends to maintain the same achieved balances when heard later at loud levels.

So, should you mix only at soft levels? No, of course not. In fact, it's necessary to mix loud for a minute or two to ensure proper balance on the low end spectrum of your mix. Also, in order to ensure effects and EQ's aren't saturated, it's necessary to mix for periods of time at moderate levels. But overall...the best balances are achieved at lower mixing levels.

Hope this sheds some light for a few out there.Happy mixing........btw, I didnt compile this........... Just the sharer.

Anyone catch Car Torque this past sunday? Why they gotta dumb things down with these celebs also adding their 1 cent opinions on cars?Well, anyways, just thought I'd put that out there.

But thats not my actual reason for the post.Did u see who's the new face on the show?Oh yeah, a certain Miss Foxen I presume.Seems if ur more serious on the News, u can be more spunky on the Car shows........and then some.I wonder when Lerato Mbele is gonna break her serious streak and head for a little bit of fun..........with a capital "F"?
