« on: January 31, 2005, 05:15:01 PM »
I cant wait to hear this collab between Kanye and my main man John Mayer. The 2 of them is gonna be too nice. Its just so major.Interesting too.
Anyways, thought peeps may appreciate this info from Sony's site:
Get ready for this 'un! Guitar genius/heart-throb John Mayer and pal/rap superstar Kanye West have collaborated on a brand new track - 'Bittersweet' - set to appear on West's forthcoming new album, 'Late Registration', due out in May.
Curious as to what you would get if you put two of the world's biggest musical superstars - one rap and one acoustic rock - in a room for a few hours and left them to their own devices?? Well John Mayer and his pal, producer/artist Kanye West, thought it was damn good idea and fans will be able to listen to their eagerly-anticipated collaborative efforts - the track 'Bittersweet' - on West's forthcoming sophomore set, 'Late Registration', due out in May.
No word yet on the musial direction of 'Bittersweet' ('cept that it is ridiculously brilliant) and the guys are leaving fans hanging in further state of suspense by playing coy about the project.
"I just did some stuff with Kanye in the studio that's ridiculous," Mayer said to MTV at the recent American Music Awards. "We have a thing on tape that's pretty cool."
"I don't wanna give too much away," West added. "I don't do music for the hype behind it. It's because I really love John as an artist, I like his voice. He's like the modern day [Doobie Brothers singer] Michael McDonald. ... And me and John, we just cool, period. Like me and Common, we get in the studio and we vibe and then we make music from that point. If I can't vibe with a person then I can't do the song."
Adding to the buzz of the collaboration is that both Mayer and West have scored multiple nominations in the upcoming 42nd Annual Grammy Awards - Mayer received two nods for Song Of The Year (Daughters) and Best Male Pop Vocal, while West picked up a whopping 10 nominations for his recent works, including his debut album 'College Dropout'.
Until the track hits our ears, John Mayer fans will be able to indulge in hearing his lush acoustic sounds on the airwaves once again, when 'Daughters' - the third single from his album 'Heavier Things' - hits radio and music TV mid-January. While 'Daughters' is a media-only single (sadly, it won't be released in stores here), it does have an awesome new video, which you can take a sneak peek at right now at www.johnmayer.com
PS "Body's a Wonderland" and "My Stupid Mouth" r still some of the best to this day.Especially the latter. If u dont have John Mayer, then whats wrong with u mannnnnnnn.lol.
