General Discussion / Whats Wrong with SOCIETY?
« on: January 16, 2005, 11:27:00 PM »
Just startling to see this news headline

http://www.news24.com/News24/AnanziArticle/0,,2-7-1442_1647748,00.html" TARGET="_blank">Pregnant teen gang raped

How sick have ppl become that they can do such wicked things?Seems its a case of "I can do whatever I want and, due to the fact that I have more rights as a criminal than a victim, I can happily carry on doing what I like even if it harms others severely".

No wonder u get so many normal ppl going on killing sprees.Dont agree with that either, but seems to click into place.For every action there is an equal and sometimes more devastating reaction. :-|

I think finally Lil Jon came correct with this beat.It jogs my memory of a time period just before the mid-90´s r&b.

Also, missed hearing Usher on a beat like this.It reminds me of Nice ´n Slow.2 of the best in their respective genre´s coming thru brilliantly on this track-Usher and Luda.I think Usher should have skipped on Yeah and rather chosen this beat and song, minus the Lil Jon feature.

The song is almost perfect, just Lil Jon spoils it with his feature, but it is his song so we gotta forgive him for that appearance.Also, Luda hits better on this one than he did on Yeah, and he´s back to his freeky best on here too.It cracks me up everytime.One hot track. :-]

What u peeps think bout oom Steve?I think he was one of the brightest prospects of the local soccer scene when he came out, back with Zuma.Those days Zuma was one of the flashiest players to never really be able to score a goal.

But what happened was Zuma went overseas (best move he could have ever made) and learnt his trade and learnt his strengths too.I think he turned out to be a great player, with some nagging tendencies, but all in all a cla** act.On the other hand, Steve stayed local and, I feel, never really developed beyond the time he came out.Its like he never built on the immense talent that once was.And such is the state of local soccer.I´m hoping now that the World Cup´s gonna be held here, that more rigorous structures will be put into place, more consulting will be done from top to bottom, and vice versa, more linking with overseas based coaches will take place and more money will be ploughed into the soccer (in all facets) cause I feel that either there are no specialist coaches along with the head coach, or they are no knowledgeable enuff and just happy to know the limited bits they know and sit on their fat cheques every month.

Strikers cant finish, and defenders r comical, to say the least.The midfielders dont always know what they doing.I´m generalizing of course.There are some out there that r pure cla**, but r not getting their just due by being developed more and more.Just watching a bit of Bucks and Pirates today and I was not impressed.Flip the channel and peep liverpool-manu and its like ur watching something thats on another plateau totally, but the fact of the matter is that its supposed to be (in the context of the 2 countries) on the same equivalent level.But clearly, no comparison.There r historic barriers, clearly, that have hindered things, but its time to build up and move out from the mediocre cocoon and elevate things to that next level.

Just my views.I admit, I dont have all the answers, but some stuff I constantly think of and utter and views I hear from others makes me realize that these top authorities need a good kick in the behind to wake up from whats seems to be a slumber of note.

Biker trapped at 232km/h:

Scottburgh - A Gauteng motorcyclist on Sunday pleaded not guilty to travelling 232km/h on a KwaZulu-Natal highway on a motorbike allegedly not fitted with registration plates or a properly displayed licence disc.

KwaZulu-Natal traffic spokesperson Colin Govender said Malcolm John Cochrane, 45, of Kensington in Johannesburg, had a female pa**enger on his Kawasaki 1000cc when he was caught in a 120km/hour zone on the N2 at Park Rynie.

Cochrane, on holiday in KwaZulu-Natal, was released on bail of R3 000 by the roadside magistrate´s court in Park Rynie after indicating that he intended appointing an attorney to defend him.

The case against him was postponed to January 21, when he would have to appear in the Scottburgh magistrate´s court, said Govender.

He said Cochrane´s motorbike was impounded in Park Rynie and would remain locked up until it was fitted with registration plates and properly displayed a licence disc.

Although penalties for breaking the speed limit were at the discretion of magistrates, motorists recently found guilty of speeds of 200km/h, 206km/h and 207km/h - in different magisterial districts - had faced fines of about R13 000, R18 000 and R22 000, said Govender.

The Sunday Times has reported that few drivers caught this festive season doing speeds of up to 244km/h in 120km/h speed zones expressed regret when interviewed, with one even joking that he would do it again if he had the money to pay the fine.

The drivers it confronted were:

Pierre Botha, 34, of Mossel Bay, caught doing 244km/h in a Volvo T5 on the N2 at Great Brak River, Western Cape, while trying to reach his ailing two-year-old child was fined R3 000;

Shubnum Rambally, of Avoca, trapped going 207km/h in a BMW on the N2 at Park Rynie, was fined R13 000;

Johan Frederick Niemand, 26, a holidaymaker, fined R17 000 for driving 206km/h in his Honda S2000, with his son buckled up and asleep on the front seat;

Jacobus Buys, of Amanzimtoti, clocked at 199km/h on a Yamaha R1 motorbike at Park Rynie, was fined R12 000; and

Neil Dheepraj, fined R18 000 after being nabbed for driving at 194km/h in a Mercedes-Benz Kompressor between Kokstad and Durban.
Driving at speeds of more than 200km/h showed an absolute disregard for the law, Arrive Alice spokesperson Wendy Watson told the newspaper.

"You can drive at 130km/h or 140km/h by mistake, but I´m sorry, you can´t drive at more than 200km/h by mistake," she reportedly said.

I thought this really interesting.The death toll has risen ridiculously and unnecessarily.We should just be careful and not rush this season, or any other time.Always be aware of all around us and just keep it safe.Much luv to my peeps.

Media / Bush Named Time´s Person of 2004 - What Next?
« on: December 20, 2004, 03:30:00 AM »
Just when u thought he´d done it all, he goes and one-ups the whole world.U gotta hand it to this guy, he´s the biggest thorn in the world´s side, and he loves it.I´d say, easily, the most popular guy in the world..........more notorious than Biggie himself, even with the alter-ego of Frank White.If he were a rapper..........he´d get major dissed and still go onto sell 10 million copies the second time around (Just look at the past elections for proof).He just wont let up.Damn!Peep the article below:

After winning re-election and "reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style," President George Bush for the second time was chosen as Time magazine´s Person of the Year.

The magazine´s editors tapped Bush "for sharpening the debate until the choices bled, for reframing reality to match his design, for gambling his fortunes — and ours — on his faith in the power of leadership."Time´s 2004 Person of the Year package, on newsstands Monday, includes an Oval Office interview with Bush, an interview with his father, former President George H. W. Bush, and a profile of Bush´s chief political adviser, Karl Rove.

In an interview with the magazine, Bush attributed his victory over Democratic candidate John Kerry to his foreign policy and the wars he began in Afghanistan and Iraq. The election was about the use of American influence," Bush said. After a grueling campaign, Bush remains a polarizing figure in America and around the world, and that´s part of the reason he earned the magazine´s honor, said Managing Editor Jim Kelly. "Many, many Americans deeply wish he had not won," Kelly said in a telephone interview. "And yet he did." In the Time article, Bush said he relishes that some people dislike him. "I think the natural instinct for most people in the political world is that they want people to like them," Bush said. "On the other hand, I think sometimes I take kind of a delight in who the critics are."

Kelly said Bush has changed dramatically since he was named Person of the Year in 2000 after the Supreme Court awarded him the presidency.

"He is not the same man," Kelly said. "He´s a much more resolute man. He is personally as charming as ever but I think the kind of face he´s shown to the American public is one of much, much greater determination."

The magazine gives the honor to the person who had the greatest impact, good or bad, over the year. Kelly said other candidates included Michael Moore and Mel Gibson, "because in different ways their movies tapped in to deep cultural streams," and political strategist Rove, who is widely credited with engineering Bush´s win. Kelly said choosing Rove alone would have taken away from the credit he said Bush deserves. This is the first time an individual has won the award since 2001, when then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was celebrated for his response to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

The line that sticks out is the following:
Bush said he relishes that some people dislike him.

Interesting, wouldnt u say?
