Producers - Discussion / FL Studio 5 - its almost here!!!
« on: November 24, 2004, 05:19:00 PM »
In December 2004, the new incarnation of FL Studio will be hitting the scene. It will be dubbed FL STudio 5.

Many forums have been in discussion on this latest version and much speculation has come bout.An official newsletter has confirmed certain things and official sources have confirmed others. Here´s the following of note:

New features include the implementation of (Elastique) Time Stretching, Envelopes in the playlist, WaveShaper, Fruity Slicer now cuts, merges & reads .Rex files, a brand new multi velocity drum machine (FPC), reading of MP3 files, to name a few.
The new Collab feature.Collab allows you to chat, exchange projects or work together with other FL Studio users.

New (optional) Video Player. Video Player plays any video or Flash file in sync with your song for perfect scoring. So now scoring is a possibility too.
It has also been a gripe from some of the users that loop recording was not possible. It was aired to the creators of the program and now what has happened is that the call has been answered and it is now available with the app.

It is not out in demo format yet, but word is that its due end of the year.It has really stepped up now.Would be interesting to check out.

Media / TRC documentary (INSIGHTFUL)
« on: November 21, 2004, 10:19:00 AM »
Did anyone care to watch the TRC documentary that was on SABC 2 last nite (Saturday eve) around 11pm.It was so introspective.Man, they looked at the major events that happened, one of them being the Guguletu 7 ma**acre.Man, if u really think bout whole Apartheid and what it did to us as ppl.U know, it was and still is a disease and the sick thing is the same kinda violence and segregational sickness is happening in Iraq and Palestine. Its like ppl dont learn.

U´d think that the Jews had already suffered so much due to the horror of the holocaust. But its a role reversal where the oppressed become the oppressor.Where does it all end? When does the sense kick in?When do u look at urself and realize how sick u really r by inflicting pain and suffering on innocent ppl.Why don´t we learn from history and past tragedies. Why do we have to kill each other to have stories written and studied about us years from now pointing out the stupidity of the trivial way of thinking thats pervading at the moment. What makes a maniac like Ariel Sharon become a maniac? Why dont those that have lived thru the horror of the holocause condemn whats happening in the middle east? Why is the world so scared of getting involved?

Bitterness reigns the world over, and each day we´re becoming more and more used to it, accepting of it, de-sensitized.Where does it end?

Has anyone seen the HEADline of the weekend/Saturday paper (Argus)? If u havent, I suggest going onto the website www.capeargus.co.za; I am sure its there. How can a hospital simply just throw a pre-mature baby out into the trash because she is deemed to be "dead"?What kind of sick society r we living in that respect for the deceased has literally gone thru the window? It may seem like I´m generalizing and I do apologize.I am not pointing fingers but merely stating things that r troubling me everyday I turn on the TV or read things.Sure many of us cant fathom these things, but its happening on a day to day basis and it makes u sick to ur stomach.U dont know what to do or how to react anymore.U wanna cry, u wanna kick something, and if u try and put urself in the sufferers´ shoes.......u even feel like getting violent to the worst degree.

And all of this brings me back to the whole Apartheid system.Normal/regular people like u and I were pushed to the edge, forced into a corner, with nowhere to go but storm thru the devil´s lair. This action lead to violent reactions and murders, like that of Amy Biel (US exchange student). Its so sad that many times these events become mere statistics in much of the youth´s eyes today.Much of the youth today just seem to care bout is when´s the next party happening, and whats my entitlement as far as jobs and other things r concerned.Whats the whole deal with this sort of entitlement?Life doesnt work that way.U gotta earn ur keep.U gotta work for what u want. Our forefathers died for our freedom.I, myself, need to get more clued up on the struggles and the hardships they went thru.I urge others to do the same and educate those not in the know.Only once u feel their struggle can u truly appreciate ur freedom and future.

I just had to get some stuff off my chest. Please, if anyone felt harddone by my words in any way, I apologize. This something that pertains to society as a whole.More a means to lead to discussion.

« on: November 20, 2004, 09:56:00 PM »
Got some info from Billboard mag:

Rapper Xzibit will unveil his new album, "Weapons of Ma** Destruction," Dec. 14 via Columbia. The 16-track set features guest appearances from Busta Rhymes on "Tough Guy," Strong Arm Steady on "Beware of Us" and "Crazy Ho," Keri Hilson on the single "Hey Now (Mean Muggin´)" and production from Timbaland, Battlecat, Hi-Tek and DJ Muggs, among others. "Hey Now" and album track "Muthaf***a" can be streamed from Xzibit´s official Web site, as can the "Hey Now" video, directed by Benny Boom. Clips from the album have already been peppered through recent episodes of the Xzibit-hosted "Pimp My Ride," one of the top-rated shows on MTV.

The new album will be available in a collector´s edition with a bonus DVD, featuring interviews and behind-the-scenes footage in the studio. Also included is a reel of "funniest moments" from "Pimp My Ride" and the "Hey Now" video."Weapons of Ma** Destruction" is the follow-up to 2002´s "Man vs. Machine," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard´s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally and No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The set has sold 593,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Away from the mic, Xzibit will be featured alongside fellow rapper Ice Cube in the upcoming film "XXX: State of the Union," which hits U.S. theaters next April. He is also due to appear in the Jennifer Aniston-starring "Derailed," which will feature Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA.

Media / Xzibit Slams Commercial Rap, Urges New Message
« on: November 18, 2004, 08:31:00 AM »
International hip-hop star Xzibit urged artists on Wednesday to try harder to communicate through their music, saying they should stop glorifying violence and get back to being the voice of rebellion and protest.

"Hip hop went through a total stage of positivity and then it transformed into gangster rap and then it got commercial," said the singer and host of MTV car-makeover show "Pimp My Ride."

"Hopefully it goes back to that positive side where we can start communicating and saying something through our music," he told Reuters Television ahead of the MTV Europe Awards, which Xzibit will present in Rome on Thursday night.

The Los Angeles-based rapper said hip hop and rap were traditionally "the voice of rebellion, the voice of protest," but that radio and music companies had made it difficult to break out of the current tendency to glorify violence and power.

"When you can choose to play a record that says pop your a** or a record that has some kind of positive message or knowledgeable subject, it´s easier to accept the ignorance than put out something that has some thought process to it," he said.

In its current phase, hip hop generates $2.8 billion in CD sales annually, according to the Recording Industry a**ociation of America, and has become extremely influential in America. "The guy who just does ignorant music wins the awards and gets the millions of music sales and that becomes defeating after a while," said Xzibit, relaxing on a sofa in custom-made MTV tents on the outskirts of Rome. "That´s kind of what´s forcing people to come out copying the same people over and over again." Xzibit, real name Alvin Joyner, kicked off his solo career in 1996 with the album "At the Speed of Life."

Defying the gangster rap trend, he was one of a number of hip hop artists to take a political stand in the run-up to the U.S. elections this year, denouncing President Bush. His new album "Weapons of Ma** Destruction" will be released in December. "As an artist you have to find a way to get your message into your music," Xzibit said.

very interesting view from X-to-the-Z.He´s back with a vengeance.
