Sports Arena / Cup Final.....unlikely finalists!!!
« on: November 20, 2005, 11:26:08 PM »
So first we get Supersport Utd as the first of the 2 finalists......and then we get a match this past sunday featuring a team (that has not been performing wonderfully at all this season) coached by coach of the month, in the form of Jomo Sono, facing off against a team thats playing some steady aggressive soccer this season and is currently heading it up at the top of the log. What seemed like an inevitable victory for the Bucs ended up in a 1-Nil knock-out to the Cosmos boys.Unexpected, and my sympathies for those Bucs supporters.Us Chiefs peeps feel ur pain.Better luck next time.........except against Chiefs of course.

Hot Traxxx / Now its Raekwon & Pete Rock!!!
« on: November 17, 2005, 05:32:46 PM »
First Pete blessed Ghost with a nice BE Easy track, now his music is laying the foundation for Rae's coming.Apparently this may be on Cuban Links sequel which is planned for release some time. Its just that old school raw beat.Very very minimal. Its not as good as the Ghost beat, but it's ok for now.

Hot Traxxx / Who is Gnarls Barkley?
« on: November 17, 2005, 05:28:24 PM »
For those ill-informed as to who Gnarls Barkley, u could think its likely Sir Charles' off-kilter brother. And u could be right when u think of it, in its off-kilter sense.

Well, to make things a little clearer........Gnarls is actually not one person, but a combination of 2 out-there muso's.Gnarls Barkley is the brainchild of DJ Dangermouse and Cee-Lo Green.Yep, so what we have here is Cee-Lo laying madd vox to DJ Dangermouse beats.Word has it that they have been shopping the project to a couple of labels and interest is pretty great. The site is up as well, apparently, but I havent been able to access it.Anyways, here's one of the first tracks to bring to light what these 2 artists have been up to.The song is called "Crazy".Luv the strings, when they do come in.Enjoy.

Hot Traxxx / Nicolay - Light it Up!!!
« on: November 17, 2005, 05:21:46 PM »
I really like this track.Okay, I luv the original from whence it was sampled, first off.And this Nicolay beat really does justice to the original track, plus the addition of the vocal sample also enhances the beat a great deal.Very chilled.Apparently this instrumental was on a Little Brother 12" in 2002.Hasnt aged, to me....

Hot Traxxx / Anyone vibing to One Self?
« on: November 17, 2005, 05:12:37 PM »
I've just been luving this track now for about a week now.I would like to check out their album on Ninjatune. This is a bada** trio.Like the vibe of them and luving the beat and lyrical flow too.Just gets the head nodding.DL and enjoy. Some good stuff:

The title sounds pretty weird when u think about it.Almost sounds like the title that would be appropriate for an album called "ballad of a lazy bum".

Anyways, the song is far from that.Check link:

Hot Traxxx / The Roots with Jill Scott on You Got Me (LIVE)
« on: November 11, 2005, 08:31:22 AM »
I just stumbled upon this track right here.It was a live performance around the time when "Things fall Apart" came out.I didnt know that Jill Scott wrote Erykah Badu's part on that song.Anyways, on this one, Jill Scott performs that part and superbly, I must add.It was her first appearance to the world, I presume.A must listen.

PS check out the madd madd drumming toward the end of the song........Questlove is on another level.Damn, skippy.
