Oh yeah, I change my mind on this book. f***in' hate it.
Besides I'm more socialist in my view and this book is a crackpot capitalist nonsense.
f*** it.

welcome back to your senses, sir. you might add also that its horribly written.

socialist or not.. u have to admit though that her argument for unfettered markets is one of the more cogent one may come across.. the allegory used to validate her point, not only supports capitalism, but critiques human nature as well.. 4 phat lips
methinks it's also well written.. that there are many subtexts & other narratives makes it all the more interesting..
just my thoughts..

Ya'll think Azapo doesn't have Corrupt officials ?

none i've heard of.. mosibodi mangena's been one of the more level headed ministers in the last 10 yrs..
nonetheless the shenanigans i refer don't only relate to corruption and are primarily related to the trappings that come with incumbency.. the blurring of the line between party & state being the first that comes to mind.. & the delegitimisation of opposition parties being another.. [have to be out.. will try put down my thoughts more coherently later]

am helluva conflicted.. & am not even south african.. the ANC's hegemony on the state [all levers] is worrisome to say the least.. detest COPE's fixation with the black middle cla**.. and this indicates some glaring deficiencies in it's electoral strategy & policy pronouncements.. it's the poor we ought to be concerned about..

AZAPO is definitely a good look..

liberation credentials.. check..
shenanigans.. none
policy framework.. sound

Dandala has been nominated as Cope President.

talking out of ur ring piece as per usual..
he is the candidate for the preisdency of the country..
cope's elective conference where the party's preisdent & other positions will be determined is to be held in about 18 mnths..

i still maintain though.. AZAPO's getting my vote..

Nope! any zimbabwean will tell u. even mugabe dont run shit. them army generals run zimbabwe. executive decisions dont happen if the generals dont like it.

really? can somebody please give us more insight on this?

in consolidating & mature democracies- civil military relations are such that the armed forces are non- partisan & subjected to the authority of a legitimate civilian government.. however, zimbabwe's armed forces, as with most others in the 3rd world, are highly politicised & the supreme authority is not the constitution but the whims of the dominant political formation..

owing to the highly organised structure of the military, their extensive communications infrastructure and their monopoly on arms and other coercive instruments- in zimbabwe, as in many failing states, the armed forces become the de facto rulers.. mugabe & his cronies know that the only reason they're still in power is due to the armed forces.. it is said that the reason mugabe didn't step down after the loss in the parliamentary elections was owing to undue pressure from the generals in the army- who feared retribution from the MDC.. they'd threatened to take over state power..

sorry, I didn't have any pics of black lame ducks.

admittedly was unaware of their existence & have just googled em..
nxa.. am probably off duck for good..

aside: have no idea why the thought of black ducks reminded me of david hume's thesis on black swans..
rumsfeld may have been on to something about unknown unknowns after all..
