Mamadou Saying RSA is supporting mediocrity and it starts in the psl, asking why is Teko the player of the season on two consective season where as he did not win anything.

Let me catch feelings and say:

You don't need to win anything to be the best player in any tournament, period.

examples I hear you ask.

2006 Fifa World Cup, Germany. Footballer of the tournament? Zinedine Yazid Zidane, what did his team win? Nothing that's what. "O, but they came second" that's what he'll say, well Orlando Pirates Football Club also came second.

What he fails to account for is that Bafana Bafana are building for the tournament they have already qualified for, by virtue of being hosts. Winning is secondary when it comes to the friendlies we will be playing between now and say April 2010, if he was watching the game he will realise that at half time, with the score even Santana replaced his first 11 players in Itumeleng Khune, Steven Pienaar and Aaron Mokoena. Meaning he was looking to see what Rowan Fernandez, Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mashigo can add to the team.

I we can now all agree that they offered very little, mission accomplished in my book.

Listen you dogmatic slumberer, i don mean to convince you about this shit.. its a fact. your capitalistic ANC fatcats collaborated with the imperial west in the compramise of Azania, yes AZANIA you dimwitt....where have you heard of a country that is named or identified by its geographical location??? Is the a country named North africa.... rise my man.. release your self from yor tabula rasa.....

Aluta continua

[cla**]
It is always best to get facts before spewing ignorant populist rhetoric, ever hear of a country called "Central African Republic?", if you don't know take a look at the world map and look for that triagular shaped continent (take care to not confuse this with South America). At the center of this, the second largest, continent you will find surrounded by Chad, Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo and Cameroun; a country, who's capital is Bangui, aptly named "Central African Republic".

Because I didn't do geography at school I tend to think South Korea and North Korea denote geographical locations but again I may be wrong so I'll search for facts and make a statement.

No doubt he best'a recognise the boys really grew in the last tournament.
Tell me cats I know my soccer all that well what does it take to improve your rankings, are there particular tournaments and if so was this one included?

this --> Right Here <-- is how they calculate the points that determine the world rankings.

@Deeee. You, FIFA and Castrol are all trippin'! We watch football matches not football rankings. Xavi over Kaka, Modise over Pirlo? I won't argue with you here coz that's who you prefer. If Gaxa is ranked higher than Booth and Masilela then the guy that compiled that list needs to get fired and then smacked.

Where did I say Modise over Pirlo?
let me spell it out for you, I would pick Xavi over Kaka, Iw ould pick Xavi over Modise and I would pick Xavi over Pirlo... any day.

Yes we don't watch statistics, we watch football that's why it's important to put what we see into perspective. As as a fan we never wtch off the ball runs, or where a tackle or pa** is made. Most of us watch the games on tv ain't no way you gon' tell me you see whats happening off the ball but this castrol/fifa system picks up on all that. By the way this is the system that was bought by Bidvest Wits at the beginning of last season, the same system used to calculate ball possession, shots at goal, corners, distance covered... basically all the stats you see on your screen when you are watching a game on TV unless you want to tell me you never believe those stats.

I don't have anything against teko but i do feel he is yet to earn the position bafana fans have put him in. And i think the pressure is so great now that it could be the biggest reason for his less than convincing performances so far. In the same breath, i think steven is the best mid fielder we have right now. U can tell fifa and castrol i said that. And gaxa?!? U mean to tell me YOU believe he's our best defender? Think about and get back to me. Jus coz fifa tells u something its right. Like u mean to tell me u'd pick modise over xavi and cesc and them? I wonder where they've put abu treka on this list??? Computers can't see wat the naked eye can my man.

I would pick Xavi over Kaka, Modise, Pirlo any day.

but if you take the time and go to fifa.com and listen to how they calculate their rankings you will realise that it's based on actual data collected from the games played, that data reflects the contribution these players had for their respective teams. It does not mean who is the better player but rather who has contributed positively to their team in the past three games. There are no emotions involved or bias.

Teko been our best player for the past 2 seasons. Now doubt. But Now his form startin to drop just wen it matters the most.He needs to wake up(80 minutes on the bench could help wit this) .He's cockblockin himself with the lazy displays his shown of late.

People go to Fifa.com and look at the stats, Teko Modise is ranked 7th among the midfielders above Xavi, Cesc and 'em.
Midfielders' Rankings

and for those who want Gaxa out, he is the best ranked defender and he is 5th of all the players (goalkeepers, defenders, forwards), he dropped to no 5 mainly because of the defensive approach in our game against Spain.
Defenders' Rankings

We are all emotional but stats are scientific and I don't think anyone would accuse Castrol and FIFA of being biased

Edit: You all say he performed below average, now think of what would happen if he performed above average (according to your standards that is).

For me, you must understand the tactics of the coach in order to trust and fully support him

I'm sorry but that's a bullshit requirement...

As long as the team plays well and wins. Why do you need to understand the tactics, you are not a player, it's not you who will implement them.

Unlike clubs, supporting the national team is not and should not be based on results or the personnel; it's the FLAG that we support. Bafana Bafana can slip to 204th in FIFA rankings I will still support them, they can hire MiddenDRAW and bring Fortune Koloba out of retirement to partner Katlego Mphela upfront I'll still support them. Why? because when the 23 names are submitted to FIFA for any competition those are the people that represent the FLAG.

you say "as long as the team plays well and wins" and you go ahead and say supporting should not be based on results...I don't know about that.

Anyway good luck to the team tomorrow.

The "as long..." sentence is in regards to trusting a coach.

Can't we look @ the fact that we played well as the reason we won instead of saying New Zealand was lame ? Granted, they are not the best team in the world, but we won cos we didn't give them a chance to do anything. We won a lot of balls in the middle,  the pressure we imposed,  all the tight marking ? What about that ? New Zealand are very good on set pieces and we gave away none on the day. Isn't that a plus ? The fact that the boys were aware not to do this ? Why aren't these the points being raised ?

This is the same New Zealand that almost ran riot around Italy in the friendly recently and only went on to loose 4-3 in the final stages of the match. Really hope we go through to the semis and meet Italy. That's one team we can definitely beat.

And the talk was they are going to beat us because they gave Italy a run for their win. Yet given the fact that their game with Italy was a warm up/friendly and ours was in the actual competition, the same doomsayers are still criticising the team. I swear sometimes If eel I should lobby to get parliament to make it legal to disown some South African fans.

It's gonna be a trilla in Mangaung, that's all I've to say.

Peter Schmichael,Oliver Khan and Van Der Sar are definate top 5 in every ones list they always stuck to the basics of goalkeeping keeping position and pulling amazing saves. Iker Casillas is overrated too flashy and dude cant keep position no more thats why hes conceding goals in almost every match . Ill put Buffon above him. Chilavert and David Seaman on the fifth spot

Seaman? you can't be serious.

Gigi clowns alla dem...
then
Canizares
Schmicheal
Khan
Casillas (check your facts, Iker is the reason Madrid has been in contention of anything the past 4 seasons. His saves have kept Los Blancos afloat even when they were dismal)

end of story.
